Step 1: Get yourself some of this molding powder: [url]http://www.amazon.com/Create-A-Mold-Alginate-Casting-Impression-Material/dp/B007PULSRM[/url]
OR
Get yourself some really soft silicone to make a stronger, more durable mold.
Get yourself some Smooth-On Dragon Skin moldmaking silicone of your choice of hardness. The $30 trial size should actually do you nicely.
Get yourself some color (I was really just trying to avoid buying Silc-pig from Smooth-On for like $15 but honestly powdered pigments work DAMN well: [url]http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001683R82[/url]
Get yourself a 2 liter soda (the straightest bottle you can. CocaCola shaped plastic is not advised.
Get yourself some polymer clay (air dry clay). It's easy to work and dries easily. Make sure whatever you get, it doesn't have sulfur in it. That screws up the molding process.
Get yourself some ~80 grit sandpaper.
Step 2: Drink soda. Wash out the bottle and cut off the top so that you have a decently sized cup to hold your mold.
Step 3: Make whatever you want out of clay. Wait for it to dry. Sand down the massive imperfections and use really wet clay to fill in gaps. Wait to dry again and keep repeatedly sanding and filling in until you have a really nice result. If the sandpaper has left any noticeable scuff marks, just wet your finger and rub the area down until smooth (you should do this with the whole model once your done). Let dry.
Step 4: Figure out a way to suspend your mold in the bottle in a stable fashion. One method may be to pick a part of your model to put a screw inside so you can hold it as the molding stuff solidifies (which is in like, 1-2 minutes, you don't have to wait long).
Step 5 [B](do this quickly)[/B]: Mix water with the molding powder in the ratio that it says to. It will still be lumpy, but shouldn't have any dry powder in the mix. Immediately put this mixture in your bottle container and insert whatever you want to cast. REALLY soon, the mix will solidify. I mean REAL soon. This is why you have to do this quick.
Step 6: remove your model from the molding powder.Try your best not to rip the mold up in the process of removal.
Step 7: Fill that mold with water and shake vigorously until all polymer clay is gone from the mold. The leftover clay can potentially make your silicone act weird.
Step 8: Let the inside of the mold dry. Don't blast it with tons of heat, just use the blowing setting of the hair dryer, otherwise it will get too dry and crack apart.
Step 9: Mix the correct ratio of silicone and add whatever pigments you want. Maybe set a bit of unmixed silicone to the side for later work.
Step 10: Mix it more. Mix it thoroughly.
Step 11: Pour it into your mold, slowly. Let it drizzle and fill all gaps in the mold.
Step 12: Get a vibrator or back massager, or just maybe even set it on your car while it's turned on (anything that vibrates really). This will help with air bubbles.
Step 13: Let it cure until it's hard to the touch. Remove it from the vibrating whatever.
Step 14: Let it cure for at least 12 hours more.
Step 15: Remove from mold and wash with water.
Step 16 (optional): If you need the silicone object to be body safe (and there's a load of air bubbles in it), you can recover both the shine and the surface's cleanliness buy mixing more uncolored silicone and brushing it on the silicone cast. It should dry quickly and even out pretty smooth.
