We can't have what we want, and we can't want what we have. I've turned people down, too.
I don't post in this thread because part of me wishes I didn't like dragons. Things would be easier that way. But nobody got anywhere by denying who they are.
I guess the best we can do is to incorporate our interests into our lives and personalities in a healthy way. You can't reject who you are, but you also can't become obsessed. There's a middle-ground somewhere.
