BBC confirms that he died.
Video of crash Holy fuck, 140km/h straight against a metal pole.
Video is already down, fuck me that went up and gone real fast.
The IOC is on top of this shit man
This is bringing serious concerns for the track. Over a dozen people crashed on it before but it took someone to die before they realized it might be "too dangerous", sadly. This being opening day, not a good time.
Video is already down, fuck me that went up and gone real fast.
Well, there wasn't really anything bad. Just him going out of control at insane speed and flying against a metal pole. No gore or blood or anything.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/12/nodar-kumaritashvili-cras_n_460474.html
Taken off the news thread here. I'm no architect but why is there a whole line of uncovered steel and concrete posts along the edge of the track? And wow, he just nailed that post didn't he. [editline]03:43PM[/editline] Watching it over and over he simply got launched out of his sled due to the speed. Could be a rookie mistake of sorts, personally I'm seeing it as an issue of the track being too fast. This is, after all, officially the fasted bobsledding track in history.
I live in Victoria BC. Looking forward to this.

God damn fuck. Colbert just stole all the gold medals.
The amount of shit they had to stop or close down just to have some people go down a fucking mountain is fucked up. Tons of new medical equipment and facilities are not getting built, schools are getting some budget cuts, businesses are going bust, some good places and nature spots are getting scrapped. Not to mention the whole ordeal over Beijing's fuck up, and how the OC ignored that. It's all a big fucking joke.
Well it has to go somewhere.

I love Colbert =)
WOO, I LIVE IN VANCOUVER. Seen all the athletes jogging around and training.
I heard the Canadian team has secret hax for training. (snow)
The Georgian toboggan rider Nodar Kumaritashvili just died, he slammed into a pole while going 140km/ph http://www.dumpert.nl/mediabase/829051/d0045fb7/rodelcrash.html Sorry for the dutch, i can't find a better link right now.
Rated dumb because the Olympics are a waste of my fucking time and a waste of everybody's money.
They brought in snow on dump trucks. What the hell canada.
The Georgian toboggan rider Nodar Kumaritashvili just died, he slammed into a pole while going 140km/ph
Holy shit. Well, the games appear to be off to a clean start :| [editline]10:37PM[/editline]
They brought in snow on dump trucks. What the hell canada.
It's been sunny and warm outside for the past 3 days, and it's February. There's blossoms on cherry trees. The silly plants think it's spring. I'll probably go out during the Olympics and take pictures of the grossly oversized crowds, and huge traffic jams. That is, if I can even get on the goddamn bus.
Anyone know a good site where I can find a live stream of this?
Anyone know a good site where I can find a live stream of this?
Check lifehacker. But it might get nuked if the IOC catches on.
Check lifehacker. But it might get nuked if the IOC catches on.
Augh I remember seeing some site in school today that had an amazing live stream, something owned by a big company or something, but I can't remember the name of it.
Lol, I sign nearby my house that said "welcome to Vancouver, home of the 2010 Winter Olympics" got a dollar sign spray painted over it last night. My dad passed it this morning, and told me about it. I walked over there to get a photo of it, and it was already fixed. Those maintenance crews are fucking fast, they ninja'd me.
The shape of the metal makes me cry, the design looks kick ass
Holy shit that poor luger. Spends his whole life training for the Olympics and dies practicing just a few hours before it starts.
