Apparently they are working on a fourth one? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jurassic_Park_%28franchise%29#Jurassic_Park_IV "In November 2009, Joe Johnston discussed the possibility of Jurassic Park IV, stating that the story for the film is completely different from that of its predecessors and would take the franchise into a whole other trilogy." He also added, “Jurassic Park 4 is going to be unlike anything you’ve seen.” God dammit he better not fuck it up. At least it's still got the original actors and producers.
i heard it was gonna be with like water dinosaurs (i.e. mosasaurus, plesiosaurus, etc.)
One of my favorites. The movie rocked and stands next to Avatar in the "CGI WOW Factor" (oh how far we have gone in 17 years). Also.... And...
It's a Unix system! I know this!
Edit: By the way, for you Irix users, the 3D file navigator from the movie can be found here.
One of the best movies I had even seen in my whole life. Even if it's soo old, the dinosaurs still look realistic :3
What's everyone's beef with number 3? I thought it was alright. Not as good as the first 2, but enjoyable, not the piece of shit you guys make it out to be.
Jurassic park 1: fucking masterpiece. Lost world: Mehr. I didn't like it much. It felt like Jurassic Park's retarded cousin. It wasn't a bad film by any means, but it can't hold a candle to Spielberg's magic. Also they fucked over Malcom's character. In the first he's egocentric, arrogant, cocky chaos theory spouting, in the lost world, he's almost the opposite, bumbling, not sure of himself, etc. JP3: I actually liked this one and felt Johnston (director) did a really good job considering the kind of task he was facing. The film had it's weak points, but some of the scenes and set pieces were fucking balls out fantastic.
Great films but I'll have to agree with everyone who says the book is much better. Hell, if they actually followed the book the movie would've been rated R and much more terrifying. It's still incredibly entertaining, I loved the third one as well, I don't understand why everyone hates it. By that logic then you should all hate The Lost World as well since it was pretty fucking stupid too.(gymnastics girl kicking a velociraptor onto a spike was the most cringe worthy thing I've ever seen)
Great films but I'll have to agree with everyone who says the book is much better. The only thing majorly different would've been Muldoon chasing raptors with a fucking rocket launcher, which would have been ridiculous.
Hammond would be dead and torn apart by compies.
Hammond would be dead and torn apart by compies.
Oh yeah forgot about that. And he'd be an asshole too, instead of the lovable old man he was in the film. But still, thats what, about one scene, and considering how the film turned out, I don't think those two changes would've benefitted or enhanced the final product in anyway. That and parts of the prologue are annexed into the sequel anyway.
doesnt ian malcom die in the book? that shit would not fly.
doesnt ian malcom die in the book? that shit would not fly.
Yeah it is sort of implied that he dies I think. [sp]But he's alive in the sequel[/sp]. Jurassic Park is still number 1 in my top 5 of best movies ever made.
When Dinosaurs ruled the Earth Released in 1993, Jurassic Park was based on the novel of the same name by the late Michael Crichton. It follows the disaster of what happens when a new, technologically advanced theme park with living dinosaurs as the attractions breaks down in the worst possible sense, with the "attractions" breaking free and roaming the park. The sequel released in 1997, The Lost World (also based on a novel by Michael Crichton), follows the story of an expedition to Jurassic Park's second island, Site B, where dinosaurs destined for the main park are born and bred free in the wild. I'm not going to mention the travesty that is Jurassic Park 3. That shit SUCKS. ----------------------------------- Jurassic Park Director: Steven Spielberg Writer: Michael Crichton Starring: Sam Neil Laura Dern Jeff Goldblum The film received two Academy Awards. My opinion: One of my favourite films of all time. It's amazing that the special effects still look brilliant after 17 years. John Williams' soundtrack is one of the best of any film ever - the theme is incredible. -------------------------------- The Lost World: Jurassic Park Director: Steven Spielberg Writer: Michael Crichton Starring: Jeff Goldblum Julianne Moore Pete Postlethwaite The film was nominated for a single Academy Award. My opinion: It doesn't keep as close to the source material and suffers for it somewhat. Not as good as the original film but still worth seeing. -------------------------- Supposedly, a Jurassic Park 4 is in the making although there is little information on it. Hopefully it won't suck as bad as the third film. ----------------------------- RIP Michael Crichton - October 23, 1942 – November 4, 2008
Jurassic Park 3 didn't suck, it's just not as great as the first two films.
Jurassic Park 3 didn't suck, it's just not as great as the first two films.
It was totally unnecessary to quote the whole opening post. And it pretty much does suck: Stupid storyline Terrible writing Crap dinosaurs Bad acting How can it be good?
Sam Neil is the only one who lends JP3 even a bit of credibility
Both Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park: The Lost World are some of my favorite films of all time. I could watch them again and again and never tire from watching them.
It was totally unnecessary to quote the whole opening post.
man, the spinosaurus is the most legit dinosaur killing machine ever (behind of course the utahraptor).
Are you 12?
Yeah man the spino was dumb, I think it was a plant eater and/or scavenger or something. And in the movie it was just there to be the pointless villian in the pointless plot. Apparantly they ran out of evil capitalists who try to play god or something. And I believe Spielberg couldn't stress enough that the animals should never be villianised, they are just animals. Although the ringtone thing was cool. I used that for my cellphone actually. :D And no, you did not just wriggle out of the deadliest jaws the world has ever known. God damnit everything else JP spends an eternity harping on about how strong the bite of the t-rex is and some plant eating hippie faggot with anger management issues wriggles its way out with no injury.
I'm sure this is fitting for the thread: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6
Bitchin, it's hosted by James Earl Jones

[editline]09:15PM[/editline]
Are you 12?
fu dinosaurs will always be cool
and there would be pterodactyls, there is ALOT the movie didn't have, I've read the book 4 or 5 times :keke:
As I said, alot of the parts of the book you and others deem "missing" are actually in the sequels. [editline]07:12AM[/editline]
the spinosaurus was an herbivore? what? that things basically a 40-foot long crocodile that walks on two legs and has a bitchin' ridge on its back.
It's a fish eater. That thing never would have killed a T-rex, it's not built for combat. Look at the difference in snouts. The t-rex's Jaw is designed to bite and crush with extreme force, the jaw mucles are short and massive. The Spinosaurus has a long snout for picking fish out of a lake. Likewise with the teeth. The spinosaurus had conical teeth, whereas the T-rex had teeth designed to cut and tear. The difference in bite force alone would be astronomical, the T-rex would've been the one snapping the neck of the spinosaurus, not the other way around.
Even if it contains one of the biggest continuity errors in film, the T-Rex break out scene is so fucking cool even today that I can't help but not give a shit about the magical cliff.
I also think the scene in Lost World where the trailer is dangling over the cliff precariously is very well done
the spinosaurus was an herbivore? what? that things basically a 40-foot long crocodile that walks on two legs and has a bitchin' ridge on its back. [editline]09:15PM[/editline] fu dinosaurs will always be cool
Spinosaurus mind as well have been made of glass because of how lightly built it was. It filled the "Large predator that eats lot of smaller prey" niche and lived along side other predators such as Carcharodontosaurus and Deltadromeus, in other words you would have been it's ideal prey. Spinosaurus was long, but it wasn't heavy, it probably weighed less than T-Rex. If a Spinosaurus had actually been bitten in the neck by a T-Rex like in the film it's vertebrae would have been crushed and it's spinal cord severed. Even though Spinosaurus probably had very muscular arms, it wouldn't have been capable of snapping the neck of a T-Rex with them. T-Rex ranks second after the large sea going Mosasaurs as having the most powerful bite pressure of all creatures living or dead. T-Rex may no longer be the biggest carnivorous Dinosaur, but no other Theropod can come close to the bulk and strength of a T-Rex. A better use for it in the film would have been to put it in the river scene ambushing some Gallimimus, some more screen time for the Ceratosaurus instead of the Spinosaurus would have been way better.
I still don't see how people fin the book better. Lex was a whiny bitch and Hammond was an asshole. The only thing I really would have liked to see was the Pterodactyl part and the Apache helicopters nuking the island.
I also think the scene in Lost World where the trailer is dangling over the cliff precariously is very well done
Speaking of the lost world, I like this one shot where they are going into the abandoned facility. And a velociraptor jumps- Sarah was it? And Ian and the kid just walk along staring stupidly at her getting ripped on by for a while before reacting.
fu dinosaurs will always be cool
I don't think you're 12 because you think dinosaurs are cool. I think you're 12 because you compare dinosaurs to each other as you would Pokemon.
