now that i think of it, i do remember one of the cities had a tram in it. i always used to go there when being chased by a huge amount of police. since it moved left to right it used to be fun killing police from there.

For some reason the siren that keeps on going while the car is flipping the fuck out made me laugh harder :v:
The more I think about it, the more I remember about this game
I remember once spending a long time killing all of the "Tommy Vercenetis" in the Istanbul map, just so that I could use a cheat code that meant cars didn't slow down when they hit something.
It was good, driving around on a moped making trucks fly out the way like GTA IV with a mod.
The only problem was, there was no way to save, and as soon as I changed map the progress was lost forever
And there's another really weird thing, in 2006 I was playing driver parallel lines, good game, had been looking forward to it for ages.
I offhandedly decided to put the Driv3r disk in whilst playing Driver 4 to see what would happen.
Oddly enough, after a little while, whilst the map stopped loading, the character was also replaced with Tanner.
I'm guessing they used the same names for the player model or something
Oh, I remember I used to play Driv3r over at a friend's house on his Xbox.
Pedestrians used to spawn on top of the rooftops, walk off, hit the pavement and die. Like, you'd be driving along the road and suddenly people start commiting suicide in groups of 2-5 everywhere. Good times.
never play driv34 but the sound of those sirens gives me so much nostalgia to driver 2

I wonder how often that happens in games...
To be honest back in the day I was impressed by the realistic driving physics.
This was easily my most played PS2 game. For some reason I loved it so much more than the current GTAs of that time.
I remember there was a mall you could go inside and I would shoot that up all the time.
oh god i'd always always always make cops go through the mall, i'd pretend i was elwood from the blues brothers
Like Skate 3 and Driver 3. The reason why i played this game more then the modern day shooters is because of the hilarious game bugs that keep surprising you.
I remember the days when I was annoyed by Driver 1 on the PC because I couldn't get out of the car, and then buying Driver 2 and thinking it was the best thing ever because I could jack other cars. I also remember stacking up as many cars as I could on the drawbridge in Driver 2... good times.
I really loved Driver Parallel Lines - massively under-rated game.
I played Driv3r for years though. First time I'd ever played a game with a proper physics engine.
Sadly my old Xbox won't turn on anymore. I need to play this game again just for the nostalgia.
Driver was the first real racing game I've ever played. It wasn't about carjacking or shooting cops, it was about crazy racing and car chases. It was always satisfying when I made it to a destination with only a few seconds left.
Then I would load the freight train and super speed cheats, and I'd completely plow through any and all cars in my way.

I'm glad San Francisco brought this back.
So much nostalgia. I remember the first time for me was playing Driver 2 and I used to love just being able to drive around freely and back then the map size for Driver 2 was huge. I used to explore and, I spent so much of my time playing driver 3 in Istanbul as well, by the sea doing the jumps from the beach into traffic :) Or finding that tommy vimcileti person.
driver 2, finding the mini cooper or whatever it was hidden in that parking garage was the most rewarding thing of all time
Anyone remember driving inside the mall in Miami?
Or the Hidden go-kart track?
Go-Kart track was the best, always crashed though. The hills were too steep and I'd just go flying off of them hahahah
Oh man, I remember playing this game like crack. I was actually pretty hyped for its release, too. I remember seeing this exact trailer on a Xbox Magazine disc.

I need to buy this on Steam.
Haven't got it on Steam, only San Fransisco and Parallel Lines.
Oh wow, I distinctly remember it being on Steam. Maybe it was removed?
Sucks so much that they stopped updating backwards compatibility for the 360, i sold all of my original xbox games except for this. I'm surprised to see how many people here like it, my view was that everyone thought it was complete garbage and a GTA clone.

It came out when GTA was still at large, and gave you the ability to hijack cars and shoot guns. It's understandable

Eh, what, Driver was never a racing game.

Istanbul had trams I think. I used to get a felony and hop on one, watching all the police slam into it.
I still have this for PS2. :v:
