That makes sense. Of course a telescope/camera lens would percieve an image differently than the human eye, silly me.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think that stream is from an observatory on top of a mountain, as opposed to being down in the city.
Yes, but I wondered because since the Earth is much bigger than the moon, it wouldn't be exactly like a solar eclipse we see from here.
But the sun is much bigger than the Earth.

Oh no!
Camera is running out of juice!
OH MY GOD, that red ball is awesome.

But it is much, much further than the Earth is to the moon. All I'm saying is, if a total solar eclipse has the moon blocking out the sun completely, I just wondered how it would look like if it was blocked by something the size of the Earth instead, like if you were on the moon right this moment.
I'm probably just thinking too much about it and should just shut up and enjoy the view. :v:
It appears to be past peak, but still a magnificent sight. I wish I had a high power telescope, but unfortunately I lost a mount for mine, kind of degrading the whole telescope part(it now has no way of being steady).
Barely even got red for me, sucks.

i suck at taking pics in dark spaces :saddowns:
Damn man, where I live at, I can see it so damn clearly it's amazing.
it's just so beautiful though
Get out of here, clouds.
Why didn't it have to look like this?!

How much time passed as you took those? Just curious.
Well, this was a bit of a disappointment. But i still had fun.
Okay guys, the moon must've done something to the coyotes in the park behind my barkyard. I went to see the moon, and heard ears scuffling. I rushed back inside to greet my cat ( with relief ) and see a fucking coyote hop my fence. Currently telling mother about the issue.

went out at 12:50 and came in at 2:40
Alright, so although I couldn't see the moon at all, the sky was very interesting. It was hard to see the red with my eyes but once I took off the auto-BW balancing on my camera, WOW.
Here's some thumbed pictures for your sake. They are very high resolution.

Stunning all-around. I wish I knew how to take less-blurry photos but in manual mode, it does a click-pause-click capture and it's hard to hold my hands still.
Beautiful, cleared up just before peak. Tried taking pictures, but it came out a blurry mess with my 6.2-24.8mm lens.
You know why it wasn't red?
Becuase there wasn't alot of dust in the earths atmosphere, that's a good sign, not a good show but it means something.

Reminds me of silent hill.
The moon is still kinda reddish here in the Pacific timezone, but I can't really see it well due to the clouds here in Vancouver
Was pretty awesome. Guess I can sleep now. This is the second lunar eclipse I've seen.
This shit was so not worth staying up for.
I can see all of it, using my telescope, but it's just not very exciting.
The moon is still kinda reddish here in the Pacific timezone, but I can't really see it well due to the clouds here in Vancouver
It would be reddish everywhere, because timezones don't affect how light travels.

Hush you, there wont be another eclipse on the winter solstice for 100 years, you're lucky to live in this time period you ungrateful worm.

I wasn't implying that location will change so. I was simply defining my location roughly.

That can't be from the moon, the moon is dark, there is almost NO light reflecting off of it, a small amount is going around the earth so the moon looks a dark red. The moon is in NO way bright enough to light up the sky or ground at all.
When there is a full moon, its VERY bright and it just barley makes it bright outside, now the moon is no brighter than the clouds.
The red you see is ground light reflected from the clouds, it happens most when it snows and light reflects back up to the clouds and back down again, there may be snow nearby your area, if not it happens without it anyway sometimes.
