i heard that that was a load of unproven bullshit
same
Yeah there's fat and then theres being a bear.
Doing calorie surplus and strength training achieves bear status.
Can people read my edit in the OP please?

Notice I said, "Not GET fat," meaning that, if you aren't fat right now, this will help to prevent you from becoming fat. Exercise and healthy eating helps, too.
Underweight guy who eats 5 massive meals a day here, you've been trolled by a troll.
Toning is bullshit, the very fucking biology of the human body says so, and if you actually believe you can selectively reduve fat from certain areas of the body while not touching others then you deserve to be smacked around with free weights.
A bit irrelevant, but you can make your body only burn fat when you exercise by having a special diet. Apparently you can actually burn your muscles instead of fat, so indeed toning is bullshit.
I'm surprised no one has addressed the major problems with eating 5 meals a day. It seems a lot (read: majority) of people that do this don't realise how much they take in so they will either eat way over their BRI, and either gain muscle from exercise or get fat, or eat way under, and their body will start to store fat making it difficult to maintain a proper weight.
Since I started exercising a month or so ago, the hardest part for me is meeting my BRI and going slightly over to compensate for exercise. The exercise is the easy part.
I never said exactly 5 meals a day, I said usual small meals a day.

You only eat that much due to the initial metabolism, as soon as I hit 12 I woke up at night with hunger pains cause i only ate 3 meals a day, it's not like you change your eating habits and the metabolism adjusts for us.
I eat 1 - 2 meals a day and I'm underweight and I have fast metabolism.

No as long as you exercise right and have a decent diet, your body should burn through it's immediate muscle glucose and carbohydrates, then should turn to its fat stores for energy.
That's why folk who swim the channel start of as fat cunts and end up looking vaguely ethiopian at the end of it.
Most guys turn into blackholes by the time they hit 12-13 because of the massive development stage. It's normal. The problem is when the body stops growing and people keep eating at the same rate. Of course there are exceptions (skinny fucks like me, and people born with larger frames).
~5'8" and at 107 lbs.
Edit:
And that's because I eat a motherfucking train for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
It should be noted that anything involving body mass, diets and metabolism is extremely unpredictable until you reach the end of puberty. During development the definition of "normal" in these topics is very wide and the adolescent body may not respond the same way as an adult. I'm stating this because half of FP is hardly adults by age.
The best thing you can do until you're 18 is eat and exercise with common sense.
I eat whatever I want whenever I want and I don't gain weight. I just don't seem to lose or gain weight. Maybe because I'm both active and eat a lot, balancing it out.
I eat whatever I want whenever I want and I don't gain weight. I just don't seem to lose or gain weight. Maybe because I'm both active and eat a lot, balancing it out.
Eating when you need to eat and not eating for pleasure is what you're meant to do, add that with an active lifestyle and you're going to have a normal body and life.
This post made me feel so warm inside, so true and very uplifting!
It's not true.
Oh, that explains why I'm skinny and never do any sports, just sit on my ass.
I love snacking. Dont eat much for meals.
how the hell are you meant to burn more calories than you take in, guide daily ammount is 2000 for a man. how the fk are you burning that in a day? even 1000 to burn is a lot
This is how I eat usually.
Snack like crazy and have one big meal or 2 meal that day.
but im a small eater I never clean my plate, im the kid who eats like 2/3 of their meal.
Generating body heat uses a fair bit. If your body has spare energy, it can either store it as fat or just burn it off while you are doing practically nothing.

No it's not, the army on an average day have to consume 4000 calories a day, and there's specialist roles that require up to 7000 if I remember correctly.
Go play football for an hour and if you work hard at it then you can burn around 2000
Also 2000 is the chicks guideline, 2500 is a guys.
The only thing I can see this doing is drawing blood from the rest of your body to your stomach to deal with constant digestion.
Thus making you both stupider and lazier than before.
i already have a fast metabolism so its k
You do know what substantial means, right? Clearly not.
He eats ALOT, and doesn't gain weight, has nothing to do with "your" *theory*.
It's unproven, and has no scientific basis whatsoever.
And if you DON'T want to be a fatty NEVER do what this guy says, never snack at night.
You have no basis behind your claim either.
I've heard this same claim from people who know two shits about health, like my mom (degree in nutrition), my doctor, my brother (survivalist, exercise enthusiast), and a nutritionist that came to my school.

I actually can't fathom how retarded this is.
It's amazing.
Your stomach doesn't digest anything, it churns and ferments in a sense and mixes.
How do you speed up your metabolism?
I'm underweight.
Based on this thread. A majority of Facepunch is either a bunch of fat people or a bunch of scrawny (Not skinny, skinny and scrawny are different) people.
How do you speed up your metabolism?

Speeding it up for you would be bad.
Snacking at night is no fucking different from snacking during the day. Jesus christ, where do you people come up with this shit.
Same goes for the whole "never eat carbs before bed because they're more likely to be stored as fat". Sorry, it's shit. It's no different from eating carbs during the day.

Actually that last part could be true because the body releases hormones and chemicals that suppress the appetite during sleep, and slows metabolism.
I've recently started lifting weights etc. for 1 hour every other day (been doing this for around 1 month) and I can already see the change, even though I haven't lost any weight. Looks better than just losing weight, and you also lose fat.
Lifting for one hour? Ugh, is that normal?
Either way I eat, I still am 15 pounds underweight.
Im at the correct weight for my age, its just my height multiplies the recommended BMI higher
