Well, God I hope he wasn't in charge some of the stuff that irritated me so much about that mod.
I'm willing to bet that because of the 80s esque portal gun and the mod's title, that this takes place right after GLaDOS first goes online.

Premise:
The story, triggered by the p2's events, will branch off into it's own, shedding more light on Aperture's past as the player explores its old abandoned parts, experiments kept secret and its relation to Black Mesa as a new major threat slowly rises.
It is more story oriented rather than test intensive.
Also there's a heavy Half-life influence in the environments and will also bring the two games a bit closer story wise.
About the second question... what better way to put it than with the great phrase "These things, they take time :( ".

Although not the overall design, the energy exhaust vents on the side were directly inspired by the plasma gun from Doom 3.

The video above should give you a feel on the gun's sound design, which Spencer (sound designer) and I've been putting alot of work into getting right.

This. P2 modding is very limited given there's zero access to code. As stated above it's an engine thing that'd require nothing short of Valve themselves fixing it with an update. Might as well throw in few more projected textures in the limit that's currently one being rendered at a time.
When working on PS:Mel, we did contact them to fix the projected textures they broke with an update though, and to our surprise they actually responded with a fix.
So might give it a try at one point myself.

Portal was a fantastic series, as annoying as the memes it spawned are. I'm looking forward to this - you guys' work is easily Valve quality, better even. This could be sold as an official expansion based on what I've seen so far.

Played around with the material settings for quite a while before ending with the current look, I find it looks the best this way rather than the overphonged mess thanks to how source handles phong shading.
Do you plan on having custom wheatley narrated sections, or is it just going to be you, trying to get out of aperature?
Because if its the former, would love to see harryuk doing voice lines.
His wheatley voice isn't spot on, but there are pretty much no Stephen merchant impressionists out there, let alone ones tied so closely with portal's universe/games.
Wheatley is not making an appearance, and it will be a silent mod for the most part. No companions planned.

Lamarr is a godlike map maker. I have nothing but high hopes for this.
