My concerns were mainly coming from how they're presenting all of it though.
They're presenting this goofy shit as if, unlike the other games, TPP was built solely around all of this ridiculous side stuff first rather than the actual story.
We were told that this was going to have a much darker tone compared to the past ones but aside from the early ground zeroes trailers, all I'm seeing is what looks like another parody even more stupidly absurd than what was made in the past.
The passive stuff like funny looking cardboard boxes that made the AI react differently in subtle ways was always fine; I don't like how all of this new crap seems to be making everything easy as shit though.
There's no telling what they'll do but if we've got a conflict of interest here (people wanting something absolutely absurd vs. people wanting a return to the classic MG/MGS 1) hopefully they'll have a ton of options and stuff.
I'm hoping there'll just be absolutely ZERO hand holding on the toughest difficulty or something.

Might just be overthinking it anyways. It's probably all been considered and they won't intermingle the fun lighthearted stuff with what's actually happening to BB and company too often.
I'm thinking they're avoiding showing off all the grimdark stuff as to spoil as little as possible which is why they're giving a lot of attention to the ridiculous stuff in these gameplay videos. Draw people in with the goofy shit and then shit on them with all the darkness the Metal Gear series has to offer.

Its to avoid spoiling anything in trailers.

Dude, did you watch ANY of the trailers? They're all super dark and serious.
I think they are making the trailers very well. The ones focused on story are cut in a way you can't say how the plot will go but at the same time make you very excited. The gameplay trailers focus only on gameplay and avoid giving you too much of the story.

I think the issue he's raising is actually pretty good, from the way they're presenting it in previews it looks like there's a real disconnection between the story and the gameplay. All this dark shit's going on in the cutscenes and as soon as you regain control, BAM! bikini boxes! That's not to say the gameplay will be entirely silly, of course it won't be if you're not often using silly techniques. It just has the potential to be jarring.

That's how MGS has always been, no?

The two ends of the spectrum are more extreme this time, on the one end we've got child soldiers and on the other there's tactical horse poop. I doubt it'll be so jarring as the contrast between gameplay and cutscene trailers make it seem, but there's still some potential that it will be.

I think the goofy-stuff is there to not make you play through the game in constant PTSD because of all the terrible shit bound to happen (if the ending cutscene of Ground Zeroes is anything to go by, eugh) and keep the gameplay interesting and fun.
Horse poop model has shitty quality. 0/100

Yeah, I remember reading an interview with Kojima where he stated that he adds the wacky stuff to his games because otherwise they would be too dry and depressing and it would turn players off. It's a way to balance the emotional tone of the game so you don't feel horrible through the entire thing.

It was actually a DYKG video, at 4:12

Man, it almost like some people have never played an MGS game before to be complaining about shit like this.

In what way? Obviously there's silly stuff in all of the MGS games but it's never contrasted the serious side this much.

In Portable Ops you could contract a talking cat to row you to a Caribbean island where you could fight a dinosaur in a cardboard tank. I need scissors! 61!
In Peace Walker I can seduce Paz on a beach in her underwear.
In MGS2 you can slip in bird shit and they can shit on your face too.
In MGS3 the bad guy grabs your junk.
The list fucking goes on.

But obviously horse poo causing a car to skid out of control is where I draw the line!
I suppose I can understand why people would be more put off by this game's disconnect between silly and serious- it's a little weird having serious scenes where you're listening to one of your close friends being raped, then turning around and seeing a couple of goats (which I assume will have kids at some point in a future trailer). Has that been a trend in the past few games? Yeah, but that really doesn't mean people shouldn't find it disturbing.
Whatever the case, I trust Kojima to do a good job at this game, and that means integrating the two different elements well.

MGS was always goofy though. The story would be kinda serious but the gameplay was just silly at times. Hell even when they showed MGS4 gameplay they were being goofy (cupping the statue's balls for example with the octocamo). Honestly if there's no goofiness in an MGS game then they messed up somewhere.

All hilarious but I never said MGS doesn't have silliness, I said it's never contrasted the serious side so much. None of the previous games had [sp]bombs in vaginas,[/sp] child soldiers in action etc. That's where the potential issue comes from. I've not said "This game is too silly, MGS is a serious series", I've said the two ends of the spectrum are more extreme this time and it has the potential to be jarring. Not that it will be an issue, but that it could be one.

theyve never really been as serious as this one supposedly tries to be tho
at all
I'm fine with there being lots of fun goofy stuff because at some point after you've put 80 hours plus into this game, you may get a little bored with playing the game super straight and may want to just have some damn fun. Is fun allowed in video games anymore?

Oh don't get me wrong, after 80 hours of Peace Walker and similar hours on MGS3 I was doing the silliest stuff imaginable. As long as it's paced neatly and we're not going straight from child murder to poop gags then it should work out fine.
