Okay actually looking at this video, all 3 characters are using alternate skins, even Batman. The reason for this is probably because Netherrealm love to show off all the alternate skins for the characters. [sp]I spoiled it for myself. It's an alternate timeline shown at the beginning of the game[/sp]

It seems reasonable that they could just swap out models on the fly, since the cut scene is done in game.

The Midway Games team that made all of the MK games and MK vs DCU became Netherrealm studios, so yes, they did make MK vs. DCU, retroactively.
