• Why the New Ghostbusters Movie is Already Bad
I think the biggest problem with the movie is that they made it a full blown comedy. Unlike the original that was funny only when it needed to be. The trailer even shows heavily used tropes that seem to be in every single comedy. The actor choices could have been WAY better as well.
ya the cast is a solid comedy cast, but like dan ackroyd and ramis's characters were funny because they were dead serious using twinkies as a unit of measurement is only funny when you are dead serious! dancing toasters is only funny when you explain how you spent all night testing what music triggers it, talking about demon possessed girlfriend levitating off the bed is only funny when the guy on the phone wants to do run over and do science(!) commedy doesn't have to be low brow, and particularly movies like the martian showed that people really do respond to thoughtful scientific funny like the original movies were and like the martian was
It's not that the original movie was not a comedy. It's that the new one is a 2016 comedy. Remember Grown Ups? It's going to be like that but with ghosts.
I'm not refuting that fact. I've seen a lot of people who claim Ghostbusters isn't a comedy. I don't know what planet they're from.
The Martian is not the best example of smart comedy, if you ask me.
Certainly not the strongest smart comedy around but its a decent show case that you can be successful without being genuinely terrible.
Humor was not that good. That deportation joke didn't really make that much sense, because the punch line was just "Donald Trump wants to deport people." or "Deport people for their bad opinions."
It wasn't a deportation joke. Trump's 'catchphrase' is "you're fired" or at least it was when his TV show was still on. When someone is fired, its commonly refereed to as being given "the pink slip" because its sometimes accompanied by a pink piece of paper explaining their termination.
Throughout the video, I noticed that a lot of the punchlines were delivered fast and flat which diminished the humor of it completely. This was the biggest problem.
How would you propose I go about fixing this? I'm not quite sure what a "slow" and "bubbly" punchline would be like.
I noticed before the closing music that you were trying to copy mr plinkett's review style. I seriously wish I could go in depth about how the plinkett reviews but I don't have the time to list every reason why it works so well. You need to work on the timing of your jokes, the quality of your jokes, and how those jokes are presented using your voice.
I wouldn't say "copying" but I definitely admire his series. The whole list thing was more or less me organizing things for myself, because if not, everything would become jumbled and similar arguments/points would be scattered around the video turning it into a big mess. Kind of like an essay. And I liked the closing music so I decided to use that for my endslate. I had originally planned on using a vocal acoustic cover of the ghostbusters theme, but I really just wanted to get it finished, so that part is completely on me.
CC Clean up the audio. Some pops with your voice, dunno what was going on. Don't add that grey border and then shrink the clips. You now have your own grey border and the clip is wide screen so it has black borders on the top and bottom. Its distracting and bad.
Color Correct? More often than not, I've seen color correction degrade quality, or oversaturate clips to the point of them not looking good.
Clean up the audio. Some pops with your voice, dunno what was going on.
I noticed that too. It cleans up after a while, so Its probably something with audiacity and my mic not cooperating.
Don't add that grey border and then shrink the clips. You now have your own grey border and the clip is wide screen so it has black borders on the top and bottom.
