Fallout 4 fails on the RPG front but in terms of gameplay it more than makes up for it. A sequel doesn't have to be better anyway it just has to be good, I wouldn't consider NV better than 1 or 2 yet it still deserves to exist and is a great game.
Doesn't look all too great on the FPS-front either.
The fucking shooting mechanics you guys. Why do we even mention the "shooting mechanics" in a FUCKING FPS game?? Fallout 3 had HORRIBLE mechanics with the guns and I always wondered how the fuck were the developers pleased with the results after testing the damn game before release. Imagine half-life with bad shooting mechanics(I know that half-life is not an RPG but come fucking on its shooting shit with a gun how can you fail???) , it is a fucking joke for a FPS game with guns to have bad mechanics because what do you do like all the time in the game? Shoot shit.
Oblivion and morrowind for me were how I started getting into RPGs . Oblivion got me started and then I checked out Morrowind which I fell in love with. The side quests in fallout 4 are so fucking short. I played 40 hours and only 1 side quest felt kinda long and satisfying to complete, The cabot house quest. In oblivion you had a to get into houses secretly and to do so you had to see when the dude would get in his house and get in it the right. Clear a dungeon? Fuck no you clear a ship from fucking ghosts because its haunted. Faction quests! Get into this house and kill them one by one without them knowing who is the killer. Gray fox , the motherfucker you saw on posters and couldn't wait to meet. The main quest is meh I admit that.
All this shit I mentioned was a fucking journey for me full of quests where I cared and couldn't wait for the climax of every quest which kept me immersed. Fallout 4 is just not that interesting after 40.
Most quests are radiant and not to the mention the fucking dialogue system and fallout 4 is so casualised that it's just stupid. The system with the abilities being gained after every level is not RPG enough for me, I can't even be the bad guy for fucks sake. it's just a fucking sandbox shooter. After all this hating I gave the game I have to say that the first 25 hours were fun while shooting the wasteland scum and exploring the world so I can learn more about the lore and improving my settlements too which was a nice time waster in the game but after all this.... you have a shit ton of caps and you don't know where to spend them, the best fucking guns and armor and the only fucking thing to do is radiant quests. I got bored of collecting trash and I hate radiant quests. Only at 40something hours.
Also I saw Skyrim mentioned in the thread. I dislike this game with a passion. Every fucking quest is go to dungeon, kill all the fuckers inside and bring me this . The factions have shit stories and I don't even remember one personality from the game. It was just killing shit with a simplified (again) RPG system. Nothing that I did changed this bland snowy world. I just couldn't enjoy the damn game.
Sorry for the wall of text and the grammar (4 am after a hard day) .My conclusion is that Besthesda loves the fucking dosh that skyrim brought in. They think that simplified games (I mean fallout 4 is just like skyrim , simple and less RPG) can cash in easily and they don't give a fuck about story or doing something really interesting. Yes I am a hypocrite for saying all this bad shit for the game after playing 40 hours and finishing the quests but it just saddens me that this shit happens in the development of these games.
