Some ideas (disregard the text under the logo, was just to suggest placement of whatever text you wanted.
I don't think anyone would really want to wear clothing with those sunglasses or moustache on it, and there are already quite a few brands who use a diamond as their logo (Most notably; Diamond Clothing) [editline]16th August 2013[/editline] If the OP is going for a more elegant style of clothing (which it sounds like with a name like Veil) I feel as if the brand would benefit a lot more from a more artistic "swirly" font such as this HUF logo: [editline]16th August 2013[/editline] Tho if you're going purely off a text based logo it might become quite forgettable. Minimalist text logos are great, but almost every indie streetwear brand is using a similar style now. It would probably help to work directly with whoever you're getting to design your clothing as well as your graphic designer and come up with a little detail or logo to give it a bit more flair. [editline]16th August 2013[/editline] [t]http://i.imgur.com/yZk5h97.jpg[/t] Extremely quick mock-up of what I'm sort of talking about (Obviously not meant to be like this exactly). Just little logos/details/shape for people to remember your brand for.
those are just run-of-the-mill fonts saying 'veil', with a couple of bad logos there's no design in that at all
stop
Go?
i really can't tell if you're being serious or not
Wait, OP this is your first time doing a business right? Just curious. Also, are you getting any outside investors?
I'm no graphic designer, but I'm a sophomore industrial design student who spent the last year hand drawing products and we're now getting into digital stuff. I'm pretty busy but if you want someone to pump out basic concepts and proofs and stuff for free, hit me up and I'll show you some of my portfolio. I also started my own t-shirt company a few summers ago and have a bunch of designs that never made it into production which you can look at if you'd like. Anyway, the idea is that I can give you rough stuff without costing you anything and then you can pay your lead designer to perfect the art so he/she doesn't waste a lot of time and your money. [editline]18th August 2013[/editline] Of course, after you get unbanned.
you should never work for absolutely free. even if you're just getting a small amount of money (or other payment, such as beer/food) it's better than nothing. and it's not that you absolutely require payment because ~ooh you're a designer~ but if you're handing over work (that i've no doubt you've enjoyed) for nothing, what does that say about how you value your own work? i get that your heart's in the right place and it seems like a nice guy thing to do (and it kinda is), but really, unless it's for family or very good friends, my personal opinion is that you should never design for free. because then people start thinking that design should be free, public understanding of design is damaged and a whole load of other issues start cropping up. design is a service. not least to mention if you come up with a few rough concepts, one of them really stands out and is then taken by the next designer to a perfected level, ready to go, then your idea gets made up and sold as the brand, and the only person who's been paid for it is a guy who didn't even come up with the idea. i'm not saying it should be a lot, at all, god knows i worked my arse off for £4/hour for several months because i enjoyed the design work and not the pay, but working for absolutely nothing, giving away your ideas for free (quite literally) is bad practice. (but i'm not trying to have a go, i know you're trying to do something nice)
More ideas!
Sorry but please never launch a brand unless you want to waste money and be sure to never get it back.
More ideas!
yes definitely dont think about what message you want to convey and choose fonts that way. instead just pick a bunch of fuckin random terrible fonts and maybe youll find one that works accidentally, and then build your image around that! whats thought??????
I would be interested in doing some design work if you want to PM me. I don't work free but I am comfortable with the style you're shooting for.

Because dusty lumber really took off.
Sorry all for the lack of updates, been serving a lengthy ban, as per. Two more designs, a step in the right direction, but still a bit....meh

Also, are you getting any outside investors?
First time running my own business yes, but not the first time running a business. No not currently. Also peeps if you're interested in doing some design work for me I am open to it and will pay you, if you are interested please post examples of your previous work in the thread.

i guess you showed him this thread/these images then? He's already done his 10 concepts which I paid him for, kinda decided I didn't want to continue working with him since due to lack of communication on his part.

Although they look like the logo for literally every other clothing brand ever.
Those are definitely a step in the right direction. Although they look like the logo for literally every other clothing brand ever.
Yep :(
He's already done his 10 concepts which I paid him for
You've got to be a fool to pay for concepts. I understand you want serious artists, but £££ doesn't always equal serious. I understand business isn't about making or losing money and that it's about winning, but still.
While I was plotting in the basement at work I did some doodeling: This thing is all geometry and zero text. I doubt anybody could read it. Even I struggle but at least it's mathmatical. It was moreabout how much geometry fits in your name :v:. the sketch:

Regardless of whether or not you use a design, the designer should always still be paid for their work.
Of course you have to pay for concepts. Fake portfolio and a few fake testimonials.
sounds like I just found a new line of work
professional a-hole? you clearly don't have a clue about how the real world works, especially designed based. design is a service, not charity. designers need to make a living as much as a data entry office worker does, don't be so blind as to think that people ask for pay for concepts just because they're trying to milk money out of the client and falsely lead them along, they need to make a living, and a lot of that living starts with concepts for a client to begin your relationship.
Just shit this doodle out in paint [editline]27th August 2013[/editline] (it's meant to be a hood)

I really like it, but it's probably too obscure for a lot of people. I like it because it's different.
