If you like this, you people should read Gyo. Same author and it's filled with awesome.

From what I understood, no one could have left anyway. The spirals would have brought them back to town. I've never read a manga before, but I did enjoy this one.
Are there any other mangas like this one? I enjoyed it.
sorry for snapping bro but you can't compare spirals to that thing
Excuse me good sir, but I see two spirals. One on a pointless circle on his arm and one on his stupid metal headband.
ok started reading the gyo one and... well... i...
*sigh*.. i don't know what to think

Something that manga and anime does seem to do a lot better than western stories is how it can take a really simple idea and run with it - like Death Note is about a notebook that kills people, this is about a town contaminated with spirals. A lot of European and American things seem to be a lot more complicated. That doesn't make either worse, just different.
Freaks me out. Very "different".

Dead sharks on bio-mechanical robot legs that run on the gases the decomposing corpse produces? Perfect.
everyone, including those that aren't fans of manga and similar books like this, should read this. it's great.
The rest of this post contains minor spoilers, including the media tag. At your own risk I say!

best part. I laughed harder at that than anything else.
But the "Bwom" thing was the best! haha
I never quite understood the ending. Could someone elaborate on it please?
I agree, all I managed to get from the ending was " this happened before , the spirals are kinda alive".
Started to read Gyo too.
So that's where the Gashunk thing comes from.
Gyo was good but the ending on it sucked HARD.
Plus I hated that girl, completely unlikable and I groaned when I saw where the plot was going with her.

this x1000
[sp]in a nutshell 4 new people come in "will you join us?" yeah ok and then he sits by his burnt-out girlfriend? WHAT THE FUCK KIND OF ENDING IS THAT?![/sp]
I just finished reading the enigma of the amigara fault, and it was pretty cool despite being so short. Is gyo anything like it?
I read this about a year or two last June. I gotta say that the first book is stupid compared to the other two. The movie wasn't bad for a jappanse horror movie.
By the way; it's in your ear.
Okay, made 2 versions. Here's the full one:

Is the guy's body smushed into a spiral inside that circular tub in the movie too? I would really like to see a pic of that...
If we're discussing horror manga, anyone know the source of:
-That man standing outside a window, saying 'I'm a fairy, don't you believe in faries?'
And:
-That dude with noodle-like drippings running from his face onto a girl lying underneathe him?
I think that might be Fuan no Tane. It's a collection of short stories.
It just took me forever to find the name of that, I read it a while ago.
I find the girl hilarious. She watches [sp]her friend literally be consumed into nothingness by a giant scar spiral[/sp] and yet by the time the next chapter rolls around she's all like "Oh, I wonder how dad is doing with his pottery." You'd of thought she'd've had a psychotic break or something.
