That's VERY evident though.
And what most people, even the uneducated, would just call not getting the picture. It's an easy enough concept for consumers to understand, look at digital TV- during the switch in the US you could readily explain to any idiot with an analog set how, rather than a gradient of "getting TV" to "not getting TV" with all sorts of fuzzy semi-tolerable pictures in between, with digital there would just be "getting TV" or "Bigass chunks of bullshit/not getting TV."
[img_thumb]http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/7610/theriphdmi3.jpg[/img_thumb] If you send a JPEG or a video file through a golden USB cable, will the image be better than if it was sent through a regular one? That's right, it won't. Likewise data sent through HDMI will either get through and show on the screen or it won't. The image won't "degrade" or sumshit, unless you're gullible or ignorant enough to "notice" a difference. Clearly people don't understand what does digital signal mean. Besides 90% of the LED TV's in the market are just normal TN-panel televisions with a LED backlight. The only difference to a CCFL might be longer life span and a more even backlight, and even that's not guaranteed if it's an edge lit model. There are some really expensive LED backlit LCD televisions that can dim the backlight from a certain point on the screen depending on the source material, thus basically providing better contrast, but anyway "super huge LED TV" doesn't mean anything. Misinformation, misinformation everywhere.
My parents bought an HDMI cable for their laptop. Pretty awesome when you hook it up to and HDTV.
Went to this entire thread and no one mentioned how kick-ass Grado equipment is.
Or Ultimate Ears.
I just bought this http://www.amazon.com/KOSS-DJ100-Professional-Stereo-Headphones/dp/B003X1BEKI
Just going out on a limb here. Favorite "High Quality Sound" Companies/Manufacturers: Sennheiser, Grado, Beyerdynamic, Genelec, Etymotic, RME Hammerfall, Presonus, Harman/Kardon, Koss, Ultimate Ears, AKG, Ultimate ears, Little-Dot, Infinity, Crown, Rane. Just from experiences I've had. I know there are a lot more.
I just prefer headphones over earbuds and CDs over MP3s.
Music should sound amazing. Not "perfectly fine". Although I enjoy an Ipod obviously its not like I say "only listen to it on this and avoid this". We can cut corners when it comes to sending signals, but not when there are oppurtunities for a better delivery of a medium. Just like a HD movie with brilliant sound over video cassettes on 4:3.
When rich people get a little crazy in the head, things get blown way out of proportion. I say .m4a files on a regular ipod with some decent headphones is good enough.
Earbuds never sound "fine".
They have their place though. I use a pair of $10 Sony earbuds from walmart for my MP3 player since I manage to destroy them every 6 months. (They fall in water or get crushed in my pocket, something like that)
when it comes to music i try to get .flacs or 320 kbps because they both make a huge difference compared to shitty 128 kbps that you get from some crappy source though i've found .flacs aren't that much different from 320 kbps, though. i guess it depends on the mix
People can spent and waste their money however the fuck they want. No matter how stupid, you shouldn't be bitching' on what other people want to buy unless it involves you in any way.
I'm an audiophile and I disapprove of those items in the OP. I like Denon because of their really accurate bass.

This is majorly off topic, but can anyone suggest a good headset or a good headphone/desktop microphone combination?
This is majorly off topic, but can anyone suggest a good headset or a good headphone/desktop microphone combination?
Beats by Dr. Dre :smithicide:
This is majorly off topic, but can anyone suggest a good headset or a good headphone/desktop microphone combination?
Generally you're better off buying good headphones, and a separate mic than a headset. Other than that, it depends on your price range. I'd ask in the headphone thread in Hardware/Software

Therefore they aren't on the list :v:
though i've found .flacs aren't that much different from 320 kbps, though. i guess it depends on the mix
Some people are idiots and covert their 320kbps to flac files thinking it'll increase quality.
On the subject of headphones and such, what IS a good pair of earbuds/headphones or a good headset? Not too expensive, try as cheap as humanly possibly that is actually good and lasts for a long time
People who spend a lot of money on portable amps/headphones/earphones are faggots, home audio is the only way to actually enjoy good quality.
People who spend a lot of money on portable amps/headphones/earphones are faggots, home audio is the only way to actually enjoy good quality.
If you've ever used a decent pair of headphones/earbuds you would probably disagree. Then again, the only way to truly enjoy audio quality would be to listen to it live. Even true analog systems can't replace the original instruments.
No. Scientologists is the stupidest fucking people in the world.

You'll get people who don't know the worth of money wherever you go, I'm sure I could make comments about hundreds of redundant systems, from homoeopathy to macs.
I forgot to post my setup earlier you know, just a little something to drag around with my laptop actually this reminds me, the stereo I actually have this hooked up to is set to my computer via a cheap optical cable to the amplifier and I am happy. Is optical cable just as stupid as HDMI to buy expensive 'high quality' cables as well? I'm using a monster optical cable stolen from a friend's moster xbox360 cable stuff and figure they sell the optical separate for retarded prices.
[img_thumb]http://u.snelhest.org/i/2010/11/24_2999.jpg[/img_thumb] My headphones. They completely surround your ear, pressing at your skull. A proper tight fit not letting a lot of noise neither in nor out.
Could you tell me what brand that is?
Beats by Dr. Dre
Aren't bad headphones at all. The only thing wrong with them is the branding that doubles their price. In quality department they compete with headphones $100 less, but they still excel when compared to Skullcandy and Bose. Still not as bad as the Quincy Jones' AKG Q701, which is basically AKG K701 that's promoted by Quincy Jones. Also the wire is detachable (the only real improvement) and LIME GREEN, and the headphone itself comes with a Q-logo and in three colours. Well, atleast they're both trying to make higher end audio seem sexy and desirable for the regular public although they're really trying to rake in some cash while at it, too. To be honest I'm still not completely sure who the hell Quincy Jones is.
Could you tell me what brand that is?
that is a beyerdynamic dt 770
