SkullCandy's are absolute crap, I regret spending $40 on one pair when I thought it would be better than the V Moda earphones I've been buying for a while now. http://www.v-moda.com/ Now the earphones by V Moda are fucking amazing, and the price for them isn't bad either. The only problem I have with my V Moda earphones is that the noise cancellation is so good I can never hear the school bell when it rings. D:
I just got me some wonderful 45$ headphones, that's the absolute maximum I'm willing to spend on them. [editline]27th November 2010[/editline] It's mostly because of the built in microphones quality.
I like my Sennheisser HD 205 just fine, they sound pretty leet. My Logitech Z-5500 on the other hand is just amazing.
To be honest I'm still not completely sure who the hell Quincy Jones is.
Legendary musician and music producer. Produced some of Michael Jackson's best work.
speaking of crazy HDMI cables
[img_thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1276735/Pictures/Other/Screen%20shot%202010-11-27%20at%209.53.32%20AM.png[/img_thumb] http://www.bestbuy.com/site/AudioQuest+-+Coffee+6.6'+HDMI+Cable+-+Brown/Black/1267646.p?id=1218245470758&skuId=1267646&st=AudioQuest%20-%20Coffee%206.6'%20HDMI%20Cable%20-%20Brown/Black&contract_desc=null And it gets better: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/AudioQuest+-+Coffee+39.4'+HDMI+Cable+-+White/1267764.p?id=1218245464814&skuId=1267764
Love whoever wrote this review
I spent $16+ on a pair of Sony "Studio quality" headphones. It was a good purchase.
Audiophiles (real ones) aren't stupid, but they are annoying when they flip out because I can't hear a difference between 128kbps and 320kbps. I don't mind Skullcandy non-earbuds (the earbuds are complete shit, can't use them for a week without utterly destroying them), I just wish they wern't so GODDAMN EXPENSIVE. I will say I fucking hate earbuds though. They always fall out of the ear, they're so easy to lose, and if they aren't the right size you're fucked. Far as I'm concerned, earbuds are cancer.
I'm so glad that my Nokia earbuds come with interchangeable thingies so that they fit :v:
And people have bought it, and given it good reviews.
well of course they did, if I spent 900$ on something like that I'd try to at least make it look like something good so I wouldn't look like too much of a dumb turd
At the risk of being late I still need to say you can get all that shit for a reasonable price at an electronics store I used to work at... A high quality ethernet cable 1.5m - 5€. A device that makes sure your electricity is even (sorry about my language, my English sucks sometimes) or maybe I should say balanced or something. (Prevents electric spikes and emits an even current). is like 110€. But you would probably have to pay around 300€ for a stronger one if this one wouldn't suffice your device. (In watts or V&A) And headphones with either adjustable earplugs or adjustable frame around them for 15€ at the most. This thread made me laugh hard :) [editline]27th November 2010[/editline] And 10€ for a 1.5m HDMI cable.
don't most UPS do that anyway?
I was talking about a UPS I just forgot to write that XD Sorry :D I do realize you can get cheaper ones too, but this is still cheaper than that cable :D
So you'd drop 100€ on an UPS, but 15€ on headphones?
This thread makes me sigh.
I'll just leave this here
Oh, spending money on something suddently makes you STUPID? What about the guys buying a 4 way GTX 580 SLI, the EVGA classified, and two i7-980x? Are they also a part of the most stupid people in the world? No. Oh, what about people buying supercars ? Oh wait, cause they spend money on something that they can get cheaper, they're suddently stupid.
Well that stuff does make a difference. It's not like a light shining on a cd will enhance it, because cd's are digital anyway...
I forgot to post my setup earlier [img_thumb]http://gyazo.com/00601b31fc6144e65d1aa00fb14def3a.png[/img_thumb] you know, just a little something to drag around with my laptop actually this reminds me, the stereo I actually have this hooked up to is set to my computer via a cheap optical cable to the amplifier and I am happy. Is optical cable just as stupid as HDMI to buy expensive 'high quality' cables as well? I'm using a monster optical cable stolen from a friend's moster xbox360 cable stuff and figure they sell the optical separate for retarded prices.
Well, since the signal is digital as well, if it goes through it goes through. You might want to watch out for jitter though. [editline]27th November 2010[/editline]
Well that stuff does make a difference. So it's pretty comparable actually. Those components might be great in a render farm or a server, but useless for gaming. The light thing might be great in a dark room, but not a lot of good for audio. :P

It's not like that sound "enhancer" makes a difference at all.
Aren't bad headphones at all. The only thing wrong with them is the branding that doubles their price. In quality department they compete with headphones $100 less, but they still excel when compared to Skullcandy and Bose. Still not as bad as the Quincy Jones' AKG Q701, which is basically AKG K701 that's promoted by Quincy Jones. Also the wire is detachable (the only real improvement) and LIME GREEN, and the headphone itself comes with a Q-logo and in three colours. Well, atleast they're both trying to make higher end audio seem sexy and desirable for the regular public although they're really trying to rake in some cash while at it, too. To be honest I'm still not completely sure who the hell Quincy Jones is. [img_thumb]http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/6503/quincyjonessignatureakg.jpg[/img_thumb]
I was going to buy those but they're only available for preorder. I have a different pair of AKG headphones, and the quality is amazing.
What the hell is with gaming headsets. Holy shit, Turtle Beaches. They're like 150 bucks and all of my friends have them. They're overpriced pieces of garbage and they break in like half a second. And what the hell is with these. They're 250 DOLLARS. I could buy like 40 headsets with that money. Why don't people just learn to not be stupid and buy... The best headset ever.

D:
V-Moda does pretty good stuff, and that's what I've got now. I always look for noise cancellation in earphones (I can't stand regular headphones) because it lets me listen to the music. And that's as opposed to others hearing your music, or background noise drowning out your music, and they feel more comfortable too (to me anyways). But back on-topic, what the hell is with companies making ridiculously priced products, that work just the same as regular-priced ones? Are people just that stupid to fall for it, expecting higher prices to mean better quality automatically? I just hope this is some ridiculous trend that doesn't continue for any longer than 5 years...
Oh yes, I'd love to spend 2000$ on sound-related hardware just so I can listen to my compressed chiptune 8bit shit and low-budget weeaboo japanese kawaii voices faggotry in good quality. Wait...
op is confusing audiophiles with brain-dead gorilla-people.
Actually the cord is really thick gauge and would be useful, but you can get the same quality from another extention cord of price around 100$
I need a new pair of headphones. [editline]28th November 2010[/editline]
[img_thumb]http://www.digicore-xtreme.com/products_pictures/377-1.jpg[/img_thumb] The best headset ever.
That's the pair I've got at the moment, but they're red.

The light-shining-on-a-CD thing isn't gonna do jack shit at any time.
Oh look, there's a "DISC ENERGIZER" for LPs too. Who the fuck buys this shit? My lil brother is seriously the worst audiophile I've ever seen. He's already gone through 5 full sound sets, and he won't stop talking about speakers, hertz, whatever has to do with audio. I just don't wanna listen to it, it's annoying as fuck.
I got a Logitech G930 headset as my birthday present in October, lurve it for some gaming. I can go upstairs to my kitchen, a good 100+ ft away and still hear everything crystal clear. 7.1 digital surround sound is pretty cool, I use stereo mode for music though. My only gripe is that I can't figure out a way to have both them and my speakers working at the same time. It is also great for running to the toilet and still being able to hear the lesbians scissoring.
