I found a set of HD 590's (sennheiser) For about £20. Really good considering that they cost over 100 new. They are the best sound that i have ever heard through my ears, way better than my dads £700 quid sound system. He is a little jealous.
You need a cmoy amp if you're going to listen to your iPod.
I got a pair of Tours Beats by Dr. Dre. Are they worth the money? I have to say, yes. When I go through FL Studio or After Effects, I can tell a noticeable difference. Hate to say it, but as commercial as they are, they work.

Casual audiophile here. I may not put bags of quartz on my jacks and use ceramic cable suspenders, but I do use two studio monitors hooked up to an amp. The difference is generally noticeable, more so after using the speakers for a while. The more noticeable difference is when you play lower end, shit quality tracks which were okay on my previous set of muddy speakers.

I just installed some really puny 2.1 set as my rear speakers, now my system consist of two active monitors and an active subwoofer, and two satellites and a puny subwoofer, so it's erm, 4.2? Oh well, they work for gaming and I disable them for music because the rear subwoofer and front speakers have some crossover problems and it sounds a bit funky :3:
Apparently, Beats by Dr.Dre is overpriced. Come on, its just a headphone / earphone with 10hz-20khz frequency range with extra bass and used on most Video clips and Justin Beiber. I myself would go for a Seinheiser HD650 with an Audio Symphonica cable, an Audio Technica AD900 or an AKG 701. Something Lady Gaga would use. Skullcandy is totally cool. Skulls are the best. Haers be hatin
Huh. I wonder if SteelSeries is just marketing crap. I have the 5H v2, sounds amazing, but maybe I just haven't used anything better, and gotten used to the quality.

I'd use FLAC audio stuff for albums I really like if I had a good speaker system for use at home. I don't. Though a low end or midrange speaker system (or an mp3 player with earbuds), you're not going to notice much difference, at least not enough for FLAC to be worth the time and space. If I was going to pay out the ass for an incredibly expensive piece of audio equipment, it'd be for an amplifier head, at least with that it's actually useful. I love to listen to music, but I cannot fathom how much somebody must "love" to listen to music to be able to spend over 10 grand on audio equipment, it's ridiculous. When it comes to audio equipment, as things go up in price, their usefulness to price ratio saturates in favor of price. You will start to pay more and more for less and less discernible difference. At least for use at-home where you can't really put the volume up very high without the cops coming for a polite visit.
Apparently, Beats by Dr.Dre is overpriced. ...
Well, the studio edition ones are like, $350-$400. The last headphones I bought were some Ariel7 Tanks, and those only ran me $100, but comparatively speaking? Best fucking headphones I've ever purchased. They've got a 57mm driver, and a range of 5Hz-20kHz, and unlike the SE I mentioned, they don't require 2 AA batteries to function. Plus they come with an iPod/iPhone/Android/General Smartphone adapter, it's basically just like the little gizmo on the apple headphones, as well as a 3 meter long 1 meter-coiled cord, and a 6.7mm headphone jack for amps and shit. And it's a little strange, but looking at the site for SE, I could not find the sound specs for the headphones. Nothing at all! They're not even printed on the box they come in. :/
