That is why it is called a FIRST CAR. My first car was 1989 Chevy Cavalier. Made of solid steel and was a very faded blue color. Tons of smoke pouring out of it, the tensioner was loud as all hell and I had to hit the catalytic converter with a hammer to start it in the winter. I only got a nice car about 3 years ago when I got my Alero.

Passat has a bit of the "business"-style in it. It won't scream [B]TEENAGER[/B] like all ugly ricers or the Golf does.
The Passat is more family than business. It's by no means a bad car, it's just... not very exciting.
I have a '96 Civic. It's an ugly green color. :(
Still solid though, car's been in my family since it came off the lot :D

Insurance costs for a GTI would be insane. (depending on age/driving history).
Edit: I have an 08 GTI, insurance costs a bomb. Not too bad anymore though.
I have a Jetta GLS and while it is a very nice ride the damned engine light is triggered by [i]anything[/i]. Apparently Jettas are notorious for lots of silly electrical problems too, didn't stop me from buying one though.

Nah you're right. But I bet insurance for a car over there is alot cheaper then over here. But then again, I'm abit too busy trying to pay for university to be able to afford a car.
I have a 99 Honda civic SI and my insurance is $1600 a year.
Seems like kids have a lot more money now then when I was a kid. My first car was $25 and had only 2nd and 3rd gears and no reverse. Air bags were not invented at the time so I didn't have them either.
Once I get the money to get a car, I'm gonna try to get a Jeep like this.

I won't use it for offroading. 4x4 doesn't necessarily mean you have to drive in the desert or something. It's just an SUV. I'd use it for driving, storing stuff, and that's it.
