Jail: The place you stay for several days when you commit minor crimes like disturbing the peace or stealing something. Prison: Months to years of confinement from the outside world. Mostly for major crimes. This is the part where you start realizing how badly you've fucked yourself over. Prison rape is plausible.
Thank you all for saying that jail and prison are not the same thing. Repeating the same thing even though it have already been posted over and over has really enlightened me and my incorrect usage of words.
jail and prison are not the same thing.
I was hoping for a huge thread with all sorts of information on jails/prisons, with helpful tips too maybe. Oh well.
It's spelt Gaol. "jail" is an Americanism
For reminding me you should be pulled apart by 4 cars and then the pieces burned and thrown inside the police station while they're still burning. [editline]12:57AM[/editline] Or maybe I could push you off a tall building with a noose on your neck so you fall and the rope chops your head and body into two pieces. [editline]12:57AM[/editline] Maybe burn the pieces when they land. [editline]12:57AM[/editline] :v:
jails and prisons have nothing on gulags.
Been to jail for being drunk in public... That shit sucks
You don't go to jail for public drunkenness, you go too the drunk tank. I know this because so far I have spent approximately half my life in there so far. [editline]11:03PM[/editline] The other half being getting to there
omg lions and tigers in one thread
Thread of the day.
OP needs to lean that JAIL and PRISON are two completely different things.
I believe it is spelt gaol

American jails are horrible.
American jails are horrible.
Hahaha Evil American Empire
Because everyone who deserves to go to prison totally do get sent there :downs:
American jails are horrible.
A jail is supposed to be horrible, else what is the purpose of jail? If jail was pleasant people wouldn't give a shit whether or not they'd break the law because going to jail would be nothing more than a few years off in a nice resort.
In sweden, prisoners get gaming consoles and TV.....
You're shitting me
You don't go to jail for public drunkenness, you go too the drunk tank. I know this because so far I have spent approximately half my life in there so far. [editline]11:03PM[/editline] The other half being getting to there
oh how manly you are! i wish i could be like you!
OP needs to lean that JAIL and PRISON are two completely different things.
only in america. everywhere else in the world they mean the exact same thing [editline]09:59PM[/editline]
In sweden, prisoners get gaming consoles and TV.....
it's the same in australia - infact even some of the higher maxs get computers no point in taking away things like that - being trapped in a fucking box is already enough
Been to jail for being drunk in public... That shit sucks
Do you live in the middle east or something?
Do you live in the middle east or something?
It's pretty much illegal wherever you live.
It's pretty much illegal wherever you live.
I'm pretty sure it's legal in the majority of European countries at least, you just have to be 18 years or older.
I'm pretty sure it's legal in the majority of European countries at least, you just have to be 18 years or older.
To be drunk in public? Doubtful.
People insist so much that people in jails be treated "humanely", so a bum on the streets has far less things to sustain life than people do in jail. So if you're a bum, rob a bank and get thrown in jail.
Bit of a dilemma. 1) Commit crime for free food/water, bed, toilet, shower etc ... but get ass raped while living the rest of your life having to deal with prison politics to survive or 2) No ass raping or prison politics, pretty much have freedom ... but starve all day long and eat scraps of garbage, while stinking like crap using public bathrooms rest of your life To be honest, seems like a hard decision. Unless you go to prison and request to be in one of those isolation cells, lower the risk of being ass raped and shanked ... good luck trying to watch the sunset and smell the flowers though.
Not necessarily if you do "bad things". More like if you break the law. Just because something is against the law doesn't mean that it is bad. It is smart to either live by the rules in the country that you inhabit or break them without being found out, second being a little harder depending what you are actually doing and how the law covering that action is enforced and monitored.
To be drunk in public? Doubtful.
Just how drunk are we talking? Because I've been drunk many times in public, also around police, and nothing happened.
Just how drunk are we talking? Because I've been drunk many times in public, also around police, and nothing happened.
You rebel... they're not going to pull up everyone and arrest them just because they're drunk - that doesn't make it illegal. [editline]10:57PM[/editline] they normally only bother with the bad ones, like BBKF who spends 50% of his life in the drunk tank and 50% of his life getting to the drunk tank. now that's rebellious!
You rebel... they're not going to pull up everyone and arrest them just because they're drunk - that doesn't make it illegal.
Prejudiced towards people who like to intoxicate themselves are we (or whatever that 'rebel' comment was supposed to mean)? And I realize that the Police aren't just going to arrest all drunk people they encounter, but I've never heard about anybody having the slightest amount of action taken towards them for being drunk.
Prejudiced towards people who like to intoxicate themselves are we (or whatever that 'rebel' comment was supposed to mean)?
Not at all. I just don't go commenting on how many times i get drunk on a forum - makes you seem well, what's the word... uh, "special"
And I realize that the Police aren't just going to arrest all drunk people they encounter, but I've never heard about anybody having the slightest amount of action taken towards them for being drunk.
well now you have.
