That was crazy.
It was strangely awesome looking when they strafed the steam engine and it begane spouting steam from the bulletholes.
Pilot: "I'm here to fuck shit up." *Strong Southern Accent*
Point of interest:
1:09 Japanese plane is hit, pilot bails but deploys chute too early, chute is ripped off and he plummets to his death.
holy shit, I had to watch it three time to notice the guy plummet down after his parachute fails.
Wow, this is very cool. Sad, but cool.
Now playing: Iron maiden - aces high
Anyway, my grandpa who was a german fighter pilot in WWII always told me that it was generally
looked down upon shooting parachutes among pilots. Most of the time they would visit enemy pilots
in hospital when someone was shot down and talk about what went wrong. But there were some
real bastards, too. The Canadians used to specifically aim for parachutes. English pilots on the other hand
were the most respectful. Even though he ruined his liver drinking with them.
Damn you and your zero in IL2.
yeah :smugdog:
:frog:
Oh wait, I use the zero too. The only difference is that I'm not a persistent fuck that manages to shoot other people's wings off all the goddamn fucking time.
Ah fun times.
The song in that video is p chill.
Any idea of the song name?
I should probably feel horrible watching this, but I feel an extreme sense of patriotism. Hmm.

For some reason I find the eastern front to be most interesting.
Interesting footage, but I've always been drawn more to World War I aviation.
It's weird.
We watch this and are immune to it's true effect by default as we experienced it first in games. How many of you noticed that your semi-sub-conscious thought was that pilots with smoke/fire billowing from their planes had low health?

As a long time IL2 player, I did.

There's a whole bunch of videos of WWII on this YouTube in colour, including the video in the OP.
I never really got into playing IL2...I could never take the time to learn how to take off without doing a barrel roll. :v:
I'll have to play that again sometime.
Regarding the video, that was really awesome. I've never seen a recorded footage of a fighter pilot running strafing runs like that.
