Hey, what about the brown forums from 2004?
It's hard to believe the history this place has.
I feel like I've been around here for hardly any time at all
I have no idea why I still visit this site but I do.
No mention of the great snowstorm that blanketed the site and caused the massive slowdown?
Does that guy still kinda stalk garry? What does he think about Rust, or hell, did he even ever play Garry's Mod?
Yeah I re-read the posts about Garry's stalker from time to time.
You ever going to do an update Garry? Did it calm him down or make him worse?
Facepunch was effectively the place where I 'grew up' on the internet. I pretty much agree with everything Bird said. Looking back, I am so happy that most of my post history is gone. Even the small bit that remains makes me slightly uncomfortable. I don't really know if I can consider myself a part of the community here anymore. Found other sites, other interests, etc. But no matter where else I go, Facepunch will always be special to me.
I guess I'm posting now to thank all of you people for being there as I grew up, both literally and in the internet sense. I'm happy and thankful for all of the people I've interacted with, and the experiences I've had.
So, yeah, thanks.
Same here man, facepunch was a major social development for middle school me.

I miss the Who's Online at the bottom of the main page, it was super useful to tell if my friends were online or not.

Rex the dino from toy story.
Facepunch LIVE was my highlight here.
Ten years. It's been a ride.
I remember when 2010 rolled around us 2009ers were happy to not be the butt end of the 09er jokes and could make fun of the 10ers.
it's my 8th fp birthday in about 10 days

Heh, I just completed 6 years here a few days ago (though technically I lurked a lot before mostly to learn and observe the TF2 threads when I was still figuring out how to make hats and stuff). I spent nearly one year of that in traction, though from a bad motorcycle accident, but other than that, I'd like to think I've been moderately active overall.

Been here since 07 and I don't remember the highlights one bit
Joined Facepunch solely for the Airsoft subforum and when it got dissolved, I found myself still sticking around. Guess that's the marker of a good online community.

and i started being active in 2012
As a few others said, FP had some real life influence on me too, in terms of taste, how I discuss with others online, etc. I'm really happy to have been a member of this forum, and I like the moderation, the users, etc. You guys all rock.

Wasn't there a huge spat with bronies on the forum or something around the 2010-2012 era? I lurked the forums back then but I don't think I was an active poster then.
I've been here since 06 and I will continue to stay.
Long live Facepunch.
Here's hoping Newpunch doesn't make anybody leave. I think Facepunch right now is as close as you'll get to a perfect forum, and the community is unmatched.
I don't use read threads and popular threads so I guess I'm Garry's "ideal" user, but surely it isn't that bad to not use them, right? It seems like a petty thing for people to up and leave over. It's convenient, but it only saves you a few seconds in the grand scheme of things.
I have a slightly longer list of worries for Newpunch (I don't know what Garry feels is so modern about it compared to currentpunch other than under the hood performance, personally, it seems largely the same functionally), but I guess this isn't the place for that. Here's hoping FP weathers the transition gracefully.
I honestly am really excited for the new forums; the presentation looks super sleek and the functionality seems more up to date as well. I could understand the apprehension with Labpunch for a few reasons, but I don't get the complaints with Newpunch. It genuinely seems like an objective upgrade in a majority of the areas, aside from minor nitpicks like the updated ratings or titles/old ratings/etc not carrying over, which aren't super big deals.
Newpunch is a big step up from what Redditpunch would've been. I don't think there's any elegant solution to Garry's issue with megathreads, and trying to forcibly solve it via many subforums was obviously a bad idea that would've segregated the communities. So in its current state all I have are relative nitpicks, which is a good sign. Built-in custom CSS solves the problem of the fact that I think it looks uglier and clunkier, too.
So I don't really see what would alienate people, it's functionally largely the same but with a gimmicky coin system.
I've been here too long

THIRTEEN YEARS?!
It has really been so long

I blame Facepunch entirely for giving such good typing etiquette on the internet. Before, I would type in all lower cases, no punctuation.
I cringe at people that do that now.

for me it's the opposite
the longer i spent on facepunch the less i gave a shit about typing etiquette, although i do include punctuation when appropriate
i think it was at some point in 2015 when i stopped caring
