I blame Facepunch entirely for giving such good typing etiquette on the internet. Before, I would type in all lower cases, no punctuation. I cringe at people that do that now.
I only care to do it in places where my text is "permanently" stored and easily accessible, like an internet forum. I've never cared about doing it in chats and other less formal internet places, unless I need to be very clear and precise with my language :v:
looking at the old "Who's Online" list, it's really comforting seeing familiar names on there and knowing they're still active.

Anything ephemeral gets punctuation most of the time but the shift key is just too far away. Anything long term gets proper punctuation / capitalisation and edited if I miss something, texts get it too because it's mostly handled automatically anyway.
I signed up to this site when I was 19. Fucking hell. So much has happened since then, it's kind of insane.
Here's some garry.tv history, archive.org actually archived some of garry's old counter-strike flash animations :v: https://web.archive.org/web/20050207015223/http://www.garry.tv:80/old/csspoofs/toonz/

I remember I was trying to download something from garrysmod.org and I was really annoyed I had to make this account to post a comment on it. Oh the memories.
I think the main reason my post count isn't higher is because I tend to stick to megathreads, so I actually see that point. I love the forums and I don't think I'll ever quit coming here, even though I pretty much stopped playing GMod. :v:
What does garry mean the forums are going to die?
is it bad i felt a tiny twinge of happiness that my dumb gold username was in the top 5 rows of one of the screenshots it's bad isn't it
its going to be sad to see vB go [editline]7th January 2018[/editline]
god I forgot that avatar
fuck i havent heard this in ages
Man... The shit storms that the My little pony section created. Remeber when Facepunch had an entire furry section?
my typing actually evolved in weird ways thanks to Facepunch. I went from typing with all punctuation like this; (Even if incorrect grammar sometimes due to my English knowledge) to typing like this with some weird pseudo-grammar. before Facepunch it was literally all poor grammar and no attempts at punctuation. Oh hey almost 6 years now.
thank you everybody on facepunch for making my internet home since i really started it such a fantastic experience
Facepunch is the Vaterland I always wanted to be in. And I'm sure as hell to be glad it has such a connected and supportive community. I've never felt this internet integrity before, FP is highly unusual for me. And that's great.
all this history and not a mention of the compwhizii regime :^(
Holy crap. I forgot we had a section for Facewound.
The only thing I still remember about Facewound is a thread called "wgat the fuck is facewound."
I can't tolerate any other forums anymore. Everywhere I go the users are too juvenile, moderation is very lax and what's worse, everyone has these kinds of signatures: BLEEEUGGH
This is the true sentiment. You've RUINED the internet for me, garry! Ruined, you hear!
I like how the 'whos online' box just keeps getting bigger and bigger in every subsequent pic
I remember the 3 or so Facepunch mod contests/challenges where all the mods would change their avatars to a certain theme or for clues and you'd have to know various bits of Facepunch history like obscure OIFY jokes to pass the challenges, which were typically tackled in teams. Then at the end of one it lead to a hidden subforum with a single thread full of mods just saying congratulations to the people that made it through. I never made it very far in those, but they were fun to try.
Facepunch LIVE was my highlight here. Ten years. It's been a ride.
Breadstick x1
I like Facepunch. It's the nice balance of simple layout, good colour scheme, good moderation and no bullshit. I mean you can go to various other vBulletin/phpBB boards that have been around for just as long, and they either have extremely messy layouts, signature bullshit, ugly designs, edgy dark colour schemes and other shit. Or moderation. Moderation is something I feel Facepunch has done really well, it might be somewhat strict, but that's good, it encourages people to make good posts and just retarded shit like "haha poopy xd". And then there's other parts of the internet where the moderation is far too strict and practically autistic with rules and stuff. And then you have stuff like reddit, which actually needs an addon to make it not retarded; and whilst the little community thing it has going on with the subreddit system can be good, you still have a stupid amount of powertripping idiots, autistic rules and echochamber-y hugboxes. There's just so much shit that you have to sift through.
I can't believe that after all these years, FP is one of the few forums I actually read on a regular basis.
I can't believe that after all these years, FP is one of the few forums I actually read on a regular basis.
I like people like you who have had the same avatar for basically the entire time. It's basically how I identify people... If someone changes theirs it takes me a long time to notice they're not somebody else haha Come to think of it, switching back to what I used for the longest time.
Facepunch made me gay
Are you sure that wasn't the huffing of dog farts that did that?
I have no idea where else I would be lurking if I never found Facepunch
Seriously. This is basically the only site I reliably browse throughout the day. There's a few others I check every day but those are typically once in the morning and that's it. If it weren't fro a friend of mine wheedling me into getting GMod I never would've even ended up here to begin with.
I honestly am really excited for the new forums; the presentation looks super sleek and the functionality seems more up to date as well. I could understand the apprehension with Labpunch for a few reasons, but I don't get the complaints with Newpunch. It genuinely seems like an objective upgrade in a majority of the areas, aside from minor nitpicks like the updated ratings or titles/old ratings/etc not carrying over, which aren't super big deals.
It's not perfect. There's the occasional issue. But compared to Labpunch it's a far superior experience and in some ways is already more than adequate as a replacement for the current forums. And a lot of the places it isn't adequate are on the drawing board for the future too.
More fun was and still is people aiming for the first account of the year and then just getting a free permaban.
When was the last time that happened? Maybe I just missed it but I don't actually recall it happening at all since like 2012.
I remember the first time on Gmod trying to implement add-ons. A lot of the add-ons on the garrysmod.com site would link to Facepunch threads and I'd be like, "What the hell is this gay forum?" A year later my friend told me the forum and game are by the same person so I signed up for my daily dose of LMAO pics.
rarely post but, always lurking fp got a special place in my heart tbh
Facepunch ruined my life
i was 10 when i joined and i started being active in 2012
Jesus christ. I've got t-shirts older than you.
So highlights were picked by mods? I can't remember anything about that feature (even though I was here by then apparently)
