Low-Life - New Order - 1985
pretty great new wave music, sometimes it can get really really eighties but it has some proper good hooks and a great beat. new order were the remnants of joy division and with the awesome drumming and bass you can tell. the guitarist, one of the most unique of his time, is just an extra treat. just don't expect him to sing too well.
5 post-punk Bjork's from the 80's out of 5.

Yeah you're right, I pretty much just dismiss anything that was made in the 80's or below so I never really gave any of the eras a chance.
I'll start looking at some 80's stuff and see if I find anything of interest, after I'm done checking out some other things.

My shirt looks kinda grey there but it's actually purple. It's signed because I was one of the first 1000 to get it or something :smug: It's on a removable leaflet copy of the artwork, which I'm actually kinda sad about but I guess its easier for them to have signed so many that way

Ash Borer/Fell Voices - Split
5/5
Two untitled songs by two Post-Rock infused Black Metal bands. Ash Borer's song is a 21 minute song filled with hypnotic riffs and drumming that compliments the song. The riffing feels ever changing but flows really well. At a few points the riffs turn more droning and doomy and at times feels like Post-Rockesque crescendos. Fell Voices' song is just over 15 minutes and is more on the droning side. But don't take that as not being very hypnotic, it's just in a more doomy and droning type of way. The drumming is another difference between Ash Borer. Fell Voices' drumming is more hypnotic yet still keeps it simple for the most part. Overall both songs are truly amazing with such great flows.

Nice.
I remember buying a limited edition vinyl album brand new that was signed.
Sadly it was warped so I returned it :smith:

Close as I have gotten to something up there with some of Pink Floyd's stuff, that is made in the modern era.
I think I preferred the second half of this album in comparison to the first, but that was probably due to the progressive nature of it. The sounds are so well blended together that give you that unique "space rock" experience.
Great stuff.

It was really great but a bit too much guitar wank for my taste. I am still gonna give it the full rating though because they are great despite the guitar wanking.

IMO, a really good album, maybe not as good as their debute, but it's full of indie-rock styled songs and slow, pretty songs as well. My only complain is that the album doesn't flow too well, it goes from rock, to a slow song, then back again. Would it be cheating to change the track numbers to make it flow more :v:?
four and a half Shultz out of five.

One of the only parts of the rap genre that is tolerable, not NEARLY as good as When Life Gives You Lemons, but it's Atmosphere.
Storytelling rap is the best kind of rap.

Andrew Wood is (or was :smith:) a very unique vocalist. Never thought I'd hear grunge infused with glam metal. Crown of Thorns has a very "epic" feel to it, in the literal sense. A few songs weren't very memorable, but overall a solid album.
Why did every good grunge vocalist aside from Chris Cornell have to die young?
Never thought I'd hear grunge infused with glam metal.
Grunge is like Glam metal anyway when you take away the glam and replace it with slooginess.

It was okay, I feel like I don't need to listen to it again, no tracks really stood out.
I guess I'll give it another listen and see if I like it any better.

Moby - Moby - 1992
B-
Moby's first effort. A lot different to his ambient work, this is kind of the days of house and using it to represent the psychedelic age of the 90s. Probably going a bit too far, but whatever I didn't grow up as a teenager in the 90s so I wouldn't know.
This is quite good, shows promise in his artistry. It's a lot less of a joy from start to finish as compared to his other later ones. But I did enjoy the last few tracks quite a bit as they did bring that side out of him a bit.
Not essential, but worth the listen if you like the style of music.

Swans - Filth - 1983
A-
In my opinion, ahead of it's time in terms of combining Noise and Punk rock genres together. Not only that, but having an underlying tone of "Industrial" to it. I'm not sure why the last track has to be a crappy live 25 minute recording, but all in all it's a great album.

Swans - Cop - 1984
A
They upped the anti with there next album. It's a LOT bolder and more vibrant than what they laid down with Filth. I kind of vomit with this album art, but the music makes up for that :3:
Instead of "underlying" tones that I suggested before, it is more full on here. The sound is more defined and the expression and technicals just swarm through. Quality album.
