oops, wrong thread~
Imo We're Here Because We're Here was infinitely better than Weather Systems which just didn't stick out for me. Was good but a bit forgettable. Also sounded like a Disney soundtrack but who wouldn't enjoy that

hakita, if you weren't big on Grin try Mental Vortex.
hakita, if you weren't big on Grin try Mental Vortex.
Sure thing
Earth - Angels of Darkness, Demons of Light II 8/10 Solid album, I really like the first one more, but this is still really good. [editline]13th December 2012[/editline] Whoa what's with the album art, I uploaded it to imgur and it changed its colors.
Sure thing
Grin was actually their worst album to date (imo) and thanks for reviewing Nils Frahm...I will give it a try
Grin was actually their worst album to date (imo) and thanks for reviewing Nils Frahm...I will give it a try
Alright, didn't know which one to go with at the time so I just chose their newest album. No problem on the Nils Frahm review, even though Wintermusik can be a bitch to find sometimes. I still chose that one though, since what's a better album for winter than literally 'winter music'
Grin was actually their worst album to date (imo) and thanks for reviewing Nils Frahm...I will give it a try
yeah Grin is their worst album but I still feel like it's a fantastic one. Mental Vortex and No More Color blow it out of the water though
Hey Hakita how do you randomly choose your albums?
Hey Hakita how do you randomly choose your albums?
I just ask people for recommendations and check the earlier pages of this and the album recommendation thread. If something catches my eye, I add it to my list. So its not really random, I just call it that because I don't listen to them before I actually start the marathon.
Hey Hakita how do you randomly choose your albums?
random finds are best.
I got into some punk rock/whatever the fuck you could call it and I listened to Blink 182. Enema of the State is the best album of them, I don't really like the newer ones (Neighborhoods), and of Enema of the State, Adam's Song was my favorite. The buildup between chorus/verse and the guitar just does it for me.
King's Evil - The Deletion of Humanoise Genre: Thrash metal 7/10 I wouldn't expect a thrash metal release from Japan not to mention a fairly normal one. It's a really good album, though. Great, rifftastic, death-metal influenced thrash. Not the most original record but it's worth checking out. "Necronomicon" by Nox Arcana As we all know, everything can be made better by adding a bit of lovecraft. This great album proves that this also is true for neo-classical music! Four Hasturs of Four! Honestly, to me it just sounded the same as Weather Systems, for better or for worse. Overall I felt like it was fairly forgettable, but still a nice listen. [img_thumb]http://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/images/fotolife/p/polymoog/20060206/20060206134731.jpg[/img_thumb] [sub]Elektel Bit Stream Lounge____________________________________[/sub] Found this gem by accident. Awesome electrolounge with a great chill atmosphere and fairly scarce but still well implemented female vocals combined with fantastic instrumentation make it very fun to listen to and incredibly catchy. Shinesparkers - Harmony of a Hunter: 101% Run A bunch of different artists got together to remix tracks from the Metroid series. 10/10. Absolutely phenomenal. I thought it was just gonna be a bunch of orchestral remixes but boy was I wrong, tons of variety and none of them stray too far from their sources. Aquatic Lullaby caught me off guard; I've heard the original so many times I never imagined it could be done like this.
Hakita, you should check out _ _ by BNNT. It's a jammin' noise album that you may like.
Hakita, you should check out _ _ by BNNT. It's a jammin' noise album that you may like.
I'll take a look at it
Here's a few new albums I listened to:

[img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/ac/Necronomicon_Nox_Arcana_cd.jpg[/img_thumb] [sub]Nox Arcana Necronomicon_______________________________________[/sub] Listened to this one because I'm a sucker for anything related to the Cthulhu-mythos. Pretty sweet, dark, almost ambient classical music with a really well done narration every now and then. The atmosphere was good and the album had some really great melodies, although it's not very memorable and only works as a full album. [img_thumb]http://www.zeldainformer.com/images/uploads/news/3008529558-1.jpg[/img_thumb] [sub]Theophany Time's End: Majora's Mask Remixed___________________[/sub] I've never actually played Majora's Mask, but there was a huge hype surrounding this album, so I decided to check it out. I was completely blown away, originally expecting a mediocre fan remix collection, but instead getting a well made neo-classical album. Kind of reminded me of Hurtbreak Wonderland at times, which I absolutely love.

[img_thumb]http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4n03v2DM51qim879_1338047603_cover.jpg[/img_thumb] [sub]Itou Kanako/Abo Takeshi Steins;Gate Symphonic Material_______________________[/sub] Accidentally found while bored on Youtube. I fucking love Steins;Gate and thought that the soundtrack was fantastic. Now it got even better with great orchestral versions of the music from the VN/Anime. My only problem with this album is that it's way too short. I really wanted more of it!

90/100 Really lofi with very simple instrumentation that definitely calls for a good listening setting, something away from a PC. Really refreshing folk-punk type lyricism, that begins to taper off in terms of quality towards the end, but not by much. Some may find the sound samey throughout the album, but I enjoy it considering its concept.
Artist: Red House Painters Album: Down Colorful Hill Best Track: Michael Runner-Up: Medicine Bottle Worst: Lord Kill the Pain Overall: Exceptional Definitely one of the best slowcore albums I've ever heard. For being at the front of the movement, it's surprisingly well polished, with long melancholic instrumental sections. Kozelek's warbling, emotional voice fits the tone of the album perfectly. Some would argue their later offerings eclipse this one, but Down Colorful Hill is arguably the most dreamy, detached album that Kozelek's ever created. You might like this album if you like: Idaho, Slowdive, Galaxie 500, Codeine, Neutral Milk Hotel
rollercoaster is great too, can't say which is better though.
AC/DC Highway To Hell 9.5/10 Heard parts of the album already(more of an individual song person than an album person). Some really nice beats in the songs, considering getting it on vinyl when I start a collection next year with a bit of luck.
Built to Spill - Perfect From Now On (1997) i really didn't think i'd like this when i got it, but it was much better than i thought it would be. airiness is a bit of a theme in the album. the songs are laid back and relaxed - but most of all, totally inoffensive. that might sound bad, but it's alright in this case; the album pulls off inoffensive pretty well. 8/10, give it a listen
Angel Spit, Hello my name is. 6/10.
This page, don't give a fuck.
Listened to quite a bit of Touhou music last night, plus so far this page is very meh, so I decided to write reviews on them! Sorry for page-stretching:

[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/UOOpw.jpg[/img_thumb] [sub]COOL&CREATE Super Shutter Girl____________________________________[/sub] This one isn't made by a single artist or band, but rather is a collection of songs from different artists released under the COOL&CREATE name. I might be 100% wrong though, so don't hold me on that. Anyways, to the actual album: It's ok. Not really that good, but still good enough to keep me listening. What mostly turned me off here were the vocals. None of them really clicked for me. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/SM5D8.jpg[/img_thumb] [sub]dBu Music Scarlet Rapsodia_____________________________________[/sub] dBu usually has that kind-of-soft mixing style that really bothers me on their rock/metal albums, but here it's a lot better. It's still easily noticeable, but not to a degree that I would find annoying. The songwriting is great and the album has a nice, energetic feeling going for it. It's got some really good tracks and some more forgettable, kind of 'eh' tracks. Not the best, but still good.

[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/9lyu8.jpg[/img_thumb] [sub]IRON ATTACK! Vampire Concerto_____________________________________[/sub] Definitely the best one of the bunch that I listened to. Then again, I have a gigantic boner for classical-sounding scales, which this album definitely delivers. The mixing is a bit wonky, as it feels like it lacks some bass, but in comparison to some other albums of the kind, it's pretty good. Overall atmosphere is a great, kind of dark, almost gothic atmosphere. The actual songwriting was absolutely ace though.

[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/kVBKY.jpg[/img_thumb] [sub]dBu Music Arietta Incalzando____________________________________[/sub] While this one has my favorite album cover of the bunch, the music isn't and leaves quite a bit to be desired. The aforementioned soft-mixing is much more noticeable here, which bothers me quite a bit, because it feels so unfitting for the type of music. The actual music is still around the same level as Scarlet Rapsodia's, altough this one has a few more misses than SR. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/z9pXe.jpg[/img_thumb] [sub]IRON ATTACK! Black History_________________________________________[/sub] While Black History lacks that great, dark, gothic feel of Vampire Concerto, it still has very similar songwriting and overall is still very good. Not the best one, but far from the worst one. Honestly, I don't really have much else to say about this one that I haven't already said in the Vampire Concerto review, so just refer to that one.

[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/RliB3.jpg[/img_thumb] [sub]UI-70 The Gift______________________________________________[/sub] This album is definitely the most varied of the bunch, but also has quite a few really weak tracks. Then again, there's quite a few very good tracks too, so that kind of balances it out. The mixing is decent enough, but some of the tracks feel very ehh and lack energy and feel. It was entertaining enough for me to sit through it, but its definitely on the bottom half of these.

[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/G0JcQ.jpg[/img_thumb] [sub]IRON ATTACK! Sparking!___________________________________________[/sub] Continues the same IRON ATTACK! formula and quality. Atleast mostly. This one definitely has a few more misses than the last few, but the good ones are still very good and enjoyable. I honestly don't think that any IRON ATTACK! album can top Vampire Concerto, but I'm still going to give a few a try. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/QUapR.jpg[/img_thumb] [sub]IRON ATTACK! Angel Mountain_______________________________________[/sub] Iron definitely stepped up the mixing here. The instrumentation is still the same as always: fast paced heavy metal. This one is definitely better than Sparking! and Black History, but still not quite as good as Vampire Concerto. Definitely close, though!
