I don't get some people's rating habits, how is "a bit boring" 4/5 material?
It's good for the short term, but it's not really an album you can go back to over and over again and listen to without getting boring, and for me that's a big thing. Don't get me wrong I love the album, I just won't listen to it as much as I will my other stuff.

I will definitely listen to a 4/5 album again. If you get bored of it. Notch it down.
I will definitely listen to a Periphery album again, about a hundered times. Whenever I get bored I just listen to Crotchduster or Dog Fashion Disco, it just never gets boring.
I dunno, it's my opinion and I gave it a 4/5. I'm gonna leave it at that.

Listening to Exmilitary by Death Grips On track 8 I think this is a 4/5 so far

The Fall of Troy - Phantom on the Horizon Released: 2008 My Rating: 9/10 A great concept album. Its essentially one 40 minute song broken up into 5 chapters based around the story of a Spanish Armada Ship running into a ghost ship with fun bits of cannibalism thrown in here and there. Absolutely love it.

I rarely listen to angry or hip hop stuff, so this was a welcome change. And all the sampling (?) and all the shit going on is just so great all the time. Everything was just great. But like, I guess I'm rating it down a little more because it just feels more like a 7. No reasoning for you. Final Fantasy/Owen Pallett - He Poos Clouds - 2006 7/10 This is all violin and piano and whatnot kind of music. Owen Pallett's voice is brilliant. The whole thing was just really great to listen to. Best track, definitely This Lamb Sells Condos. Or at least it's the catchiest one and took my attention straight away. and 7 again for the same reason as Exmilitary. Yeah.
i went into this album with extremely negative thoughts. i got my foot in the door with the title track st anger. i listened to it a few times here and there. i moved to frantic, and then to dirty window, some kind of monster, sweet amber, then the unnamed feeling. while im not completely finished with the album yet, i can say its a very.... weird album. very repetivite and of course known to be without guitar solos (as far as i can pick out. i can recall metallica talking about getting away from a typical guitar solo in some kind of monster, which leads me to believe the solo may be in a different form and buried withinn). i think the album is more for getting across the point in the lyrics as opposed to the instrument areas. the song "unnamed feeling" seems to talk about a feeling hetfield (or someone in the band) for that matter gets and doesn't know what to do with, and it eats them
It comes alive It comes alive It comes alive And I die a little more It comes alive It comes alive It comes alive Each moment here I die a little more Ooh, i die i die i die a little more Then the unnamed feeling It comes alive Then the unnamed feeling Takes me away
i think this song could reference to the reason why hetfield drank so much. the really weird vocals really gets me on this song too. frantic too is a true gem. seeming to recall the past, dealing with things your ignored or did anyway, despite warning. (or something, still decyphering) hetfield's voice is also a fucking plus on this album
Nirvana - Nevermind Heard all the songs before but this time, as I have begun to do, I listened to the entire album all the way through, several songs at a time. I actually sat through the entire ten minute silence in the last track just to get the feeling. 5/5 Great, the last track gave me visions of Hell, and revealed the inner psychological condition of Kurt Cobain. First track was overrated though.
I found out a few days ago they from a town near me.

First try :v: [release] King Crimson Lizard 1970
8/10
My first listen to this album and my first review too. The first song, Cirkus, is an OK intro song, but not really for my tastes. Don't really have much to comment on this. The second song, Indoor Games, has a great and really catchy saxophone intro. I really like this song and especially the "chorus". Third is Happy Family. This song is really great and catchy too. I really like the keyboard effect in the beginning. The only thing I don't really like is the singing effect. The fourth song, Lady Of The Dancing Water, is the ballad of the album. Very basic but also relaxing. It has a nice flute+guitar melody. The fifth and the last is the title epic, Lizard. This 20-minute track is, of course, the highlight of the album. I really liked the first half. The second half was OK, nothing really special in my opinion. I will have to give it a second listen. Overall this is a nice King Crimson album, although not as good as their first 2, its still very enjoyable. Their newer singer I didn't like much though. I get used to him fast, but he is still nowhere as good as Lake. I recommend this album to all King Crimson fans.[/release]
Marvin Gaye - I Want You - 1976 A- Heard it about a billion times now. Never gets boring and is superbly produced, some may argue it's not entirely Marvin... but screw that this is a superb album in itself. What a project, that seems the underdog to Let's Get It On. I listen to this more than that... what does that tell you? Reason I listen to this, is solely for the fact that it's pretty much a concept album driven by solid craft and atmosphere. Love that cover too, on LP it's superb.
Well.. Good. Rating it and telling us you won't give a reason. :colbert:
It's all good but not good enough for a 10. Will that do?
It's all good but not good enough for a 10. Will that do?
Rate it whatever you like, but be specific. :3:
Fact: It's an EP, not an album :3: Opinion: It's my favourite EP released in the 00's. It's amazing and got me in to Fall of Troy, it's just of such high caliber that it flies over my head how mind blowing it is and how the half hour+ song just flows so well. It's a well deserved 9/10 too.
Are you sure you aren't talking about the ghost ship demos? They're essentially the same songs but these ones are finished. Course I am usually talking out my ass and have no idea what I'm saying.
Stevie Wonder - My Cherie Amour - 1969 B It's solid. A great early album of his, way before his mass worldwide popularity. It has the well known "My Cherie Amour" song on it.. but other than that you have a lot of filler cover songs and some originals. The reason why it's a good album is because it's simply his voice. You can never doubt him on any of these songs, I adore his performance on all of them.. even pulls off a superb cover of Doors' "Light My Fire". As far as his "Early Motown" era goes... this isn't his best, despite probably being his most popular.. but still worth a listen. I'll definitely grab it on LP when I get the luck. [editline]24th May 2011[/editline] Stevie Wonder - I Was Made To Love Her - 1967 A This album is amazing... Sad to see it slip through fingers, but goddamn this should be praised as one of the all time classic soul albums. CAN HE SING IT? Hell to the yes, he's only 16 or 17 on these songs and holy shit can be BELT out these power ballads. Greatest cover of James Brown's "Please, Please, Please" I have ever heard and the title track never fails. You are guaranteed to find a hidden gem amongst these songs too and as a full listen, I can say I will go back and experience this genius at a young age again.
Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights (2001) post-punk wow am I late to the party. For a while I wrote these guys off as a weird cross between Joy Division and The Killers and not really good in their own right. I guess I warmed up to their style and after giving them a proper listen, really love what they do. They're style is mechanical like post-punk but not quite as sparse; a lot more interaction is going on between the instruments, starting interesting melodies and rhythms. I haven't started to get much out of the lyrics but he at least sounds great. It definitely has the kind of attitude which belongs in head phones while you walk through the downtown or something. There's just a lot of catchy but interesting stuff in here, and a certain feeling that definitely reminds you of Joy Division, or any of the old post punk bands. One of the best albums of it's time as far as straightforward rock goes. 7.5/10
The title track is simply amazing, and the rest of the album doesn't disappoint. It's one of those beautiful albums that you almost forget it's playing (in a good way of course), and i'll definitely be listening to it more. 9.5/10
[release] Earth Hibernaculum 2007
9/10
This album is absolutely brilliant. My first drone doom metal album and I fucking love it. The first track, Ouroboros Is Broken, is really catchy and has an amazing riff. The second track, Coda Maestoso in F Minor, has a very sad feeling. The third track, Miami Morning Coming Down, my least liked track on the album, also has a rather sad feeling. The last track, A Plague Of Angels, is a 16-minute track. Its the longest on the album and it also has drums in it. This song is my second favorite, my favorite being Ourobors Is Broken. Overall this album is fantastic and has great atmosphere. I'll definitely be checking more of their stuff as soon as possible. I recommend this to everyone who likes slow and atmospheric music. Also, thanks to Stizzles for telling me about this band![/release]
