What the fuck you forgot Frayed Ends of Sanity :byodood:
For some reason I apparently don't have it. Odd.
It's in my top 3 from the album. Wait, top 4. Argh fuck, it's too good, I love every track :saddowns:
Used to disregard older Death albums. How wrong I was. As it turns out, this is my favourite. Probably 9/10
Okay hoes, time for a big 4 album post :smug: Sadly, I'm rating them all good. Bob Dylan - "Love And Theft" - 2001 A+ Released on September 11th 2001, unfortunate... but it happens. This is a beautifully crafted blues and ROOTS rock album. Something I've always wanted him to do, but he's left it until his voice was haggered and him in a period where he was still trying to please his crowd. But hell to the yes does he perform. Lyrical genius has returned with something truly inspired. He has again, began to tell some stories instead of put his thoughts on the world around him... he's now funny and charming instead of depressing... and pulled out bags of content and just hired some really talented players to accompany him on it. The way it is recorded is sublime, I believe that it was analoguely done with some of the best machinery available. He probably got it due to him winning album of the year with his previous album. His rhymes and rhythms are more solid than he has been in years, and surprisingly... his vocal expressions work at some of his very best. "Bye and Bye", "High Water", "Mississippi" and "Po' Boy" are clear winners among this, but you are going to find a lot when you dig into it. [editline]26th May 2011[/editline] Elton John - Honky Château - 1972 A+ Honky Cat hits first, and damn when you start grooving... you never stop. The signature piano strides all the way through this and he provides some his best vocals here. "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" has nothing on this work, neither does "Captain Fantastic" which I think is his favourite. Yesterday I feared that I would get annoyed with this album, because I hear it so damn much. But I decided to throw it on today to see how I'd react. I then just forgot those thoughts and just concentrated on greatness like "Mellow", "Rocket Man", "Salvation", "I Think I'm Going To Kill Myself", "Amy"... I think I listed two thirds of the album :3:
The Knife - Silent Shout - 2006 A This is some dark, synth, experimental, ambient music. This is a real kicker, even though now I realise it's only two people. It feels like a LOT of work went into these amazing sounds. Having been obsessed with Laurie Anderson, this was very understandable in terms of it being experimental. There can be this really crisp, glitchy sounds flying all over the place that just make the music glow really nicely. On top of that we have some nice "pop" style vocals which do get very weird when messed with :3: [editline]26th May 2011[/editline]
C-c-c-combo breaker
arse. [editline]26th May 2011[/editline] Prince - Love Symbol Album - 1992 A- One thing I thought before listening to this... was that it's a "New Jack Swing" album made around the time another album was made that hit it big. That album is Michael Jackson's Dangerous which is one of my favourites. However what we have here, is less "rock" and more "funk". State the obvious. We have some nice post-80s as well as the new hip-hop vibes that put the jive into this album really nicely. It's 74 minutes so obviously it's tough to get through. But good for me because I was stuck on a bus for that amount of time due to the SHITTINESS of the weather IN ENGLAND. :argh: On topic, it's really well put together. Not quite "Sign O' The Times" or "Purple Rain"... or even "Dirty Mind". But it's a really kicking album. "Sexy Motherfucker", "I Want To Melt With You", "The Morning Papers" and "And God Created Woman" are really nice.

B This is the first and only album I bought from Symphony X (now why didn't I order Divine Wings of Tragedy yet?). Step aside, it is generally a good album, but becomes tiring after the first half. My favourite song from the album is Communion and the Oracle.
How fitting, I just finished listening to The Odyssey. I'll write a review instantly. [release] Symphony X The Odyssey 2002
9/10
Brilliant. Just brilliant. I absolutely fucking love this album and all of its songs. Speaking of which... Inferno (Unleash The Fire), the first song, is a great and powerful album starter. I really like this song. Wicked, the second song... It does not dissapoint. Incantations of the Apprentice. This one is in my opinion one of the more forgettable songs from the album. Its still great, though. Accolade II, the ballad of the album, is not as good as the original Accolade, but still very great. King Of Terrors is one of my favorites off this album. It has an epic buildup and the chorus is amazing. The Turning is an Ok song, nothing too great, but definitely not bad. Awakenings... Eh, see above. The Odyssey. Holy fucking shit. This is amazing. It's in my opinion Symphony X's best song, after Divine Wings Of Tragedy. I especially love the last movement. BONUS: Masquerade '98. This is just brilliant. Amazing remake of the original song. I even like this version more. [/release]

[release] Red King Crimson 1974
9½/10
Fuck yes. One of King Crimson's best. The only downside is that its a bit short-ish. Anyways, the first song, Red, is an instrumental. It really kicks off the album well. Its a nice instrumental. Fallen Angel is probably my least liked song on the album. Its really great, but not as amazing as all the others. One More Red Nightmare. Holy shit. This is one of the songs that got me to listen to King Crimson. Its amazing and the verses make me want to dance. I don't really think of this as a song, but a separate intro for Starless. It really does it's job well and entertains me until the big finale. Starless. Another amazing instrumental from the band. I was really sad that I hadn't heard this until a few days ago. Its absolutely astonishing. Would've rated Fallen Angel higher than One More Red Nightmare but it's all DAMN GOOD.

fuck yea post-punk and post-hardcore binge This Heat - Deceit (1981) avant-everything post-punk from hell Scary and fun and at times almost beautiful? mind fuck, one of those "how did this manage to exist in the 1908s" albums. Excellent percussion, harrowing atmosphere, complex compositions and fuck 9.5/10 Fugazi - The Argument (2001) post hardcore Like every Fugazi album this is hardcore that kicks ass and is interesting and fun to listen to. Probably the softest album, and this gives them more room to breath than on full steam ahead mode like the self titled and Repeater. I don't think it ends up being as great as those, but I still love it. 8/10 Unwound - Repetition (1996) post hardcore After listening to only the last Unwound album, the spectacular Leaves Turn Inside You, I was sort of anticipating that the other albums would just be more straightforward punk albums and not interesting like that one. But this is almost as awesome. Definitely more punk edge, but still has the psychedelic quality to it that makes Leaves such an adventure. 8/10 [editline]26th May 2011[/editline]
My store has a brand new copy of First Utterance on LP. Amesoeurs- Amesoeurs (2009) 4/5 Fantastic album. Great blend of post-punk, shoegaze and black metal. Definitely recommend it to anyone who's a fan of any of those genres, because it does a great job at all 3. It's in French so I guess if you suck that might put you off. personally I think it adds a great feel to it, as it's a lovely language (to be sung at least :v:), with both female clean vocals and male black metal vocals (delivered by the fantastic Neige of Alcest, who also contributes to the guitar, bass, drums and synths- there's 4 members, most of them are multi-instrumentalists so they all contribute to different parts) whose vocals are amazing. Even if you don't like harsh vocals I don't think the screaming in this would put you off, it's a unique style and it's incredibly emotive. You can really feel his emotions coming through his voice, it's beautiful. Highly recommend this album :buddy:
Madvillain - Madvillainy 2: The Madlib Remixes Being a massive fan of the first album and only discovering MF DOOM recently, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this, unfortunately it is a case of quantity over quality. Same short, disjointed style, but it's just not as addictive and catchy as Madvillainy. Madlib's remixes are quite abstract and MF's verses seem very cut and paste. Beats and loops still retain that awesome, odd vintage quality though. If you're into old-school rap (e.g. A Tribe Called Quest) definitely check this out.
Yeah it's nowhere near as good as the first.
[release] Tool Ænima 1996
8/10
Great album by Tool. Although not their best and it has too many filler songs, which I will not include in this review. Anyways, first is Stinkfist. This song is pretty basic. Nothing too great nor too bad. Its a good album starter. Eulogy, the second song is probably my favorite from this album. Its just so awesome and when it finally builds up in the end, its just mind blowing. H. Just like Stinkfist, this is a pretty basic song. Nothing much to comment here. Forty Six & 2. Goddamn this track is awesome. It builds up from an awesome bass riff and creates a nice experience. Hooker With a Penis. I absolutely love this song. It has alot of power and hate. Great hate song. Jimmy. Similar to H and Stinkfist. Not really much to talk about. Pushit. I don't really like this track too much. Its ok and doesn't break the greatness of the album, but its still worse than most of the songs. The title track, Ænima, is another great song. I really like this one. The riff is great and I like the vocals. Third Eye. As the finale of the album, its nothing really special, but does it's job well. Your way of rating songs confuses me hakita :3:
You're way of rating songs confuses me hakita :3:
A Winner means a single point and Agree is half a point. 3 points is the maximum.

I'm starting to think Aenima might be my favourite Tool album. Lateralus is amazing but I find it very hard to listen through in one sitting. 10,000 Days is great but it kinda meanders a bit. Should probably listen to Undertow and Opiate more
Opiate and Undertow are pretty amazing. Lateralus, I find that to be only listenable in one sitting. It just fits too well together to not.
Lateralus is definitely my favorite.
Klippa (renard) - Arcadepunk Nothing short of perfection. I can't really describe it but god damn this is probably my favourite thing Renard has ever done. 10/10
I really love 10,000 days. It's not as seperated as Aenima or Undertow or as together as Lateralus making it really solid but easily available to cherry pick songs from it. It's also just has a really good heavy rock sound, I'm not a fan of Prog-Metal that much.
Possibly one of my favorite releases by Between The Buried and Me and that's saying a hell of a lot, even though the EP only has three songs it's pretty much the same length as a full album clocking it at just under 30 minutes of pure progressive awesome. Each song clocks in at around 8 - 11 and always changes up as you barely ever hear the same section played twice. I'm still having trouble deciding whether I prefer this over Colors it's pretty darn fucking close. This EP gets 9.5 time signature changes out of 10
Excellent release :buddy: looking forward to album/part 2 dealio
