I think it leaked, I still really want to preorder it but the vinyl edition has no cd or download with it
I preordered the complete vinyl package, so I didn't feel so bad after I got a leaked copy.
couldn't find For Emma at any of the local record stores.
Also agreeing that For Emma was amazing (even more so than the new one), but it's not bad for a sophomore album. For some reason Beth / Rest hit me in a weird spot. It just reminded me of an autotuned Chicago somehow, and I loved every minute of it.
it's leaked in AAC 256kbps

Belle & Sebastian - Lazy Line Painter Jane (2000)
twee, indie
Compilation of various early EPs from the band: Dog on Wheels, Lazy Line Painter Jane, and 3... 6... 9 Seconds of Light. Since it's Belle & Sebastian, every song is perfect pop, catchy, pleasant and very poignant, with clever and charming lyrics. One of those bands I like listening to on boring and cold days because they totally counter that sort of thing. Plenty of high points on this comp, making it just as strong as most of their LPs.

continuing my goal of listening to every Fugazi album because they're all awesome. Really energized, exciting and badass music, with some noise here and there.

some of the best Fugazi moments in this EP. Waiting Room is of course THE Fugazi song, but really everything else on here is great.

Timber Timre - Creep On Creepin' On (2011)
folk
Strong songwriting backed with some somber and interesting instrumental. The lyrics show a very dark and one sided kind of love. Definitely not summer music here. The different take on love songs is pretty nice. And the playing on this album has a stark and almost haunting tone (as in it doesn't really have much power, but sounds right). The instrumentals never go out of their way to be beautiful in any strong way, but they fit the mood and add some atmospherics. And of course the singer has a lovely voice, which alone might make listening to a few songs worth while. memorable and heartfelt songwriting.

So, I had listened to this album before, just never in it's entirety in a sitting. It's a god damned brilliant album, with one of my favorite endings for any album so far (The Trial), and I just wish I could have found it today when I was out looking for vinyl. I also love the change from the first part to the second, with the second being more depressing and emotional, and I'll need to listen to it more often like this.

First time I heard it, I've only known the Amélie soundtrack, which was great, but nothing like this album. This album is truly amazing and in my opinion superiour album, it's very atmospheric. Made me think of GY!BE at moments, but less dark.
I really need to listen to this more

I really like this album, its really unique and is good music to fall asleep to. Overall, the beat is usually slow, but for a person like me who enjoys slow music, this album is excellent.

It was completely brilliant tbh. Everything about this album was put in the way it should have been. It's the best thing I've heard from Devin since Terria, possibly even better.

Album of the year? Definitely
Album of the decade? Probably.
One of the greatest things my ears have ever had the pleasure of listening to? God fucking yes.
Why is it "Devin Townsend Project" and not just simply "Devin Townsend".
That screws my library up. :smith:
I know
I just change them to Devin Townsend because of that lol. It's all Devin anyway. he's the brains behind it all, just different monikers. not different bands.

Manchester Orchestra - Simple Math. A-
Very good album, just as strong as their last album, Everything to Nothing, but surpasses it at points as I feel it stays strong throughout, unlike Everything to Nothing. The songwriting is great, and the lyrics are the best Hull has ever written. Unfortunately, at points it feels like they're using orchestral instruments at points just because they can, instead of for impact or for the benefit of the song. Great album though, love it.

Holy Sons - I Want to Live a Peaceful Life - 2003
B+
Some really nice folk rock which has been given a certain quality by making it lo-fi. So I'll have to steer slightly away from the "folky" aspect of it and think about how the lo-fi adds to it.
I was recommended a really obscure lo-fi album in the name of Quasar Wut-Wut, and I found that to be more inspired.. although this is more on the folk side, they both go quite well together.
I'll certainly look into this bands other work, they've put out quite a few. The album itself is nice, a mix of "indie" like vocals that are blatently lackadaisical to give off an uplifting tone.
It's a nice short album too. Just over 30 minutes, so we don't really have to piledrive through long pieces. Only 3 or 4 are actual songs as compared to the muxical gestures presented in the others. I liked.

Ulver - Bergtatt - 1995
A
As a starter black metal album, I could not have been more blown away. Gladly Burzum was done a few albums after this otherwise I would've gone crazy.
But to the point, I got the nice sense of "progression" with these really nice, light guitars and production styles to give a bigger, atmospheric hit. Of course, the vocals won't be as enjoyable as some may prefer, but goddamn I've been into Opeth for a while so this isn't new.
It's a cool album, nothing too freaky because it tends to take you places that you can trust here. I was expecting to visit the deep depths of the dungeons of chimney soot, but instead we have a nice melodic flow. :smugdog:
I've been tempted to buy that Ulver album for a long time now. Do you think I should?
I've been tempted to buy that Ulver album for a long time now. Do you think I should?
I think it's awesome, it's not long either so getting through it while experiencing that thrill isn't relatively difficult.
Murder Junkies - Road Killer
6/10 - All six points come from the two tracks Piss Drinkin' Jew and Once a Whore. They both feel like tracks right out of the glory days when GG was fronting the band.

I think it's cheaper than normal albums too, so maybe I will buy it.
