Ordered it on LP. Haven't heard it yet.

Black Keys - Attack & Release - 2008
Score: 10/10
I honestly don't know where to start with the Black Keys. Jesus, these guys blow my mind. The first I heard of them was a random link my friend sent me. It was a live performance of the Black Keys playing I Got Mine off of this album. There are only a handful of videos I watch over and over again on YouTube, and that's one of them. I love the guitar and drum blues-rock combo, sort of like if the White Stripes bred with Muddy Waters. A strange spectacle of raw enthusiasm, but still soulful. After getting this album and their most recent one, Brothers, I heard Cage the Elephant's Ain't no Rest for the Wicked. This pretty much solidified blues-garage-rock bands as one of my favorite genres. I was hoping to go see them at Bonnaroo, but no $ fucked that one over.

"Use Once And Destroy" - Superjoint Ritual
It's like hardcore punk done while thinking like metal (or maybe it's more like vice versa. I'm not sure. It's one of those at least.) Huge amount of energy to it, and it keeps going the whole way through. Some tracks are better than others, but I wouldn't call any of them weak. The production sounds awesome - everything really "pounds" and the guitar and bass have a great sound to them. Now, there are certain riffs and passages in the album that pop up in more than one song (or you get bits that sound uncannily similar between songs). Now this, I can see why people might be bugged by this. But the thing is that the recurring riffs and passages in question are actually such badass ones that for me at least they're pretty welcome when they pop up again.

Four and a half Pepperchrists out of five. I'd give it a 5/5, I really fucking dig this album, but I feel it'd be a little biased.

Big D & The Kids Table - How It Goes
really fun ska album, but it has quite a few boring songs.

He sent me that too lol.
It is awesome but not rateable as an album, because I said the tracklist was in alphabetical order :smugdog:

"Identistick" by Benighted" (2006)
9/10
Fucking brilliant. Fantastic technical skill, great, thick, meaty production give a great energy to the whole album. The singer's versatility from pig squeals, shrieks, standard growls, and pretty much everything in between really gives a good flavour to the album as well. If I were to describe it I'd say it's basically:
Imagine Progressive metal, technical death metal, grindcore, black metal, and melodic death metal all got drunk one night and had an orgy and one of them got knocked up, this is the glorious seed that would be produced. Anyone into any kind of extreme metal should definitely give this a listen.
I remember you posting a from that album some time ago.
I showed it to my brother and he loves it.
Yeah I think I did when I discovered it. Couple months ago now.
It's still awesome :frogc00l:
Boris - Pink

So this is like, noisy doom/sludge. In Japanese, I think. Well, the band is Japanese, and I can't make out a single word most of the time, so I'm guessing it's in Japanese.
So the opening track, I don't even know how to pronounciate it, it's awesome. Probably one of the best opening songs to an album I have ever heard. It's so dreamlike and relaxing, it's the sort of song that makes everything better. The song that follows up, the title track Pink, is also pretty awesome, but damn it would be impossible to beat the first one. Still, there had to be something to break off the whole dreamy thing because that would just give a headache in a couple of songs I think. So the second track is quite noisy, and the following two songs are too, which is kind of annoying. Then (Blackout) comes along and it breaks off in a really nice way, but afterwards it mostly goes on in the previous noisy way.
Which kind of sucks. Not that they are bad songs, but you can't bear to listen to the same noisy(although wonderful) mess, song after song, at least I don't. If I were to listen to each song separately and rate them I bet I would like them more, but that's not what we're doing here is it? No, we're rating an album, as a whole.
And as an album I would give Pink a 6.5/10, with a little plus because the album cover is awesome
Favourites from the album are:

I hear the LP starts with "Pink"..
I personally think that screws up my experience of it, because Farewell (the first track on CD) was in essence the first track that got me into Doom Metal.

Powder! Go Away - Laika Still Wants go Home
A
What this Russian post-rock band lacks in English grammar it more than makes up for in quality. This is really something special; wonderfully emotional and refreshingly fast paced. Only criticism I have is that it seems to offload its best songs early, and the quality goes downhill a little over the course of the album as a result.

Poineers of metal, every song a classic (except for Rat Salad which is poop), awesome riffs. The only reason it doesn't get a perfect score is because these guys are too outspoken on their devout Christianity on this record and it gets annoying at times even if you are a very religious person.

David Gilmour - David Gilmour
I actually picked this up on vinyl for about 4 bucks yesterday, at random, I hadn't listened to any of his solo work, but I love Pink Floyd, so I figured why not.
I love his voice first of all, even if this isn't Pink Floyd, it's still reminiscent of it, and his guitar work is still his and unique. This is full of really nice tracks that I've enjoyed, and I'll definitely give it a spin a few more times.

I think About Face is his best, but even Gilmour doesn't like that so I doubt people will agree with me. :3:

Would you like to recommend an easy album to get into one for me? I like to start with easy stuff and head from there.

Bomb the Music Industry! - Album Minus Band
Ok, wow. This is some hysterical shit. Not 8r0074l or anything, just really hysterical electro-skapunk. In a good way, I mean it's really energetic. The vocals are really full of energy and emotion, but they can be quite off-pitch which is fine(perhaps even favourable) in the more faster, more punkish songs, but in a calmer context, like the acoustic parts of Sweet Home Cannada and Future 86 it can be downright painful.
The band makes great use of keyboards, organs in particular. They fit really nicely in with the rest of the sounds. I often hear bands that use keyboards "just because", but BtMI! definitely isn't one of them. The basslines are great too, which is unusual in punk. I guess that part of the music is more ska-influenced, because they sound skalike at times.
What else...Right, I love the way the music walks the line between experimental and conventional. They figuratively jump ropes with clichés, using pretty standard sequences in new ways, which is very impressive in this modern age. It also holds true to punk, which is cool I guess. Compare "Funcoland vs. the Southern Electorate" and Ramones' "Got a Lot to Say".
As an album it holds up great, it has a good balance of angry and happy songs, a great opening and a great end. It's like a completely hysterical ride in a rollercoaster that in the end comes to a halt and you're having a beer with your buddies and singing along to the titanic song.

Favourite tracks, in no particular order:
It Ceases to be "whining" if you're "shitting blood"

Celldweller - Celldweller
B
A personal favourite of mine, but not spectacular from a critical view. There are some great songs here, but the album feels padded out with some forgettable songs, and is definitely longer than it needs to be at 69 minutes. This is Klayton's distinctive style of electronic rock put to good use, but it's got very little to distinguish it from Celldweller's other works. A good album, but nothing amazing.

Absolutely wonderful. The golden middle road between the two "eras" of Modest Mouse, genius album.
I give it a 5 out of 5.

Neurosis - The Eye of Every Storm
A-
This is great atmospheric sludge. It's simple and raw, especially the vocals, which really help make is as powerful as it is. Not all the songs stand out paritcularly; this is album that benefits from a complete listen, but the last song, I Can See you, sends shivers down my spine. It's a truly fantastic end to the album.

Two Door Cinema Club - Tourist History
Such a feel good and jumpy album, it's also somewhat relaxing. It's what every debut album should be, replayable, memorable and overall brilliant. If you're looking for a song to sum up the general feel of the album then listen to ''Undercover Martyn''.

Alestorm - Back Through Time
B+
This is definitely a step down from the excellent Black Sails at Midnight, and the shouted vocals used on quite a few of the songs aren't very enjoyable, but it's a solid effort, and it's clearly the Alestorm we know and love, which is enough to make it plenty worth the listen. I'd probably give it a B if not for the I Am a Cider Drinker and You Are a Pirate covers, which are as much fun as you'd expect and earn it a few bonus marks.
In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 - Coheed And Cambria

It started off absolutely astounding, with the title track being absolutely top-notch. But many of the other songs don't quite fit the same proggy bill, with some tracks even being somewhat pop-punk.
But it's an overall decent album, so I give it a 3/5

Four Tet - Rounds
Probably one of the best electronic albums I've heard for a while, sounds like a mix of earlier dubstep and IDM, with some guitar in it.
