overrated makes no sense It just means that you don't like it and lots of other people do
overstated is better than overrated.
Electro-shock Blues - Eels Mark Oliver Everett is a goddamn genius. I feel so terribly bad for him; his father was a genius and came up with the theory that whenever any variation is made to anything, an alternate reality is created. He rarely spoke with his family and died of a heart attack at age 51. Mark Oliver Everett, E, the leader of Eels, was the first to find him when he was 19. As quoted, "It was fucking weird, that was the first time I can remember touching him. He was just dead, and I moved him." A year or so before this album was written, E's sister Elizabeth commit suicide. The first song on the album, "Elizabeth on the Bathroom Floor" is written regarding this. Shortly after Elizabeth took her own life, Mark's (E's) mother wound up with cancer and died after a short while. Electro-shock Blues is Mark's way of dealing with his fucked up family history, imo. I can't give specific songs to listen to, the whole album is a depressing emotional experience that is brilliant. 10/10 warning: will ruin your nice day.
Damn that is a horrifically depressing album. I love it but I don't think I rated it well based on experience, I may relisten and rerate.
Heh, you can hold up fine until "Dead of Winter." It just is so sobering.
Unknown Mortal Orchestra - Unknown Mortal Orchestra 7.5/10 Indie pop stuff with funk influence. A good fun listen and nothing more.
I'm surprised anyone would consider F#A#infinity "the most overrated album ever" with albums like The Wall or Abbey Road kicking around. Even knowing about Godspeed is kind of surprising.
Godspeed is actually more popular than most people think. Post-rock is becoming more and more of a popular genre.
Indie pop
Talk about oxymoron
Godspeed is actually more popular than most people think. Post-rock is becoming more and more of a popular genre.
But no where near Popular. Known, but certainly not popular. [editline]25th June 2011[/editline]
Talk about oxymoron
Independent Popular music. Indie doesn't mean unpopular.
Talk about oxymoron
It's a very convenient term though.
But no where near Popular. Known, but certainly not popular. [editline]25th June 2011[/editline] Independent Popular music. Indie doesn't mean unpopular.
9,241,991 plays for GY!BE I'd reckon that's fairly popular.
Indie is a idiotic genre and I hate it most of the music I listen to is published by independent record labels and they are not indie post-metal or indie stoner rock or shit like that.
9,241,991 plays for GY!BE I'd reckon that's fairly popular.
You're talking about last.fm. That's like asking /mu/ if they've heard of The Protomen (everyone will say yes) and then determining they're popular. Those are places specifically music, ask anyone on the street or anyone you know 80% they'll say they've never heard of GYBE [editline]25th June 2011[/editline]
Indie is a idiotic genre and I hate it most of the music I listen to is published by independent record labels and they are not indie post-metal or indie stoner rock or shit like that.
If a band is on a indie label, they're indie. You're confusing folk and low-fi shit with a label affiliation.
Indie is a idiotic genre and I hate it most of the music I listen to is published by independent record labels and they are not indie post-metal or indie stoner rock or shit like that.
It's true; at this point indie translates to alternative rock.
Indie is a idiotic genre and I hate it most of the music I listen to is published by independent record labels and they are not indie post-metal or indie stoner rock or shit like that.
People like you actually annoy me. No genre of music is idiotic you just dont like the sound of it. To label it idiotic is pathetic.
People like you actually annoy me. No genre of music is idiotic you just dont like the sound of it. To label it idiotic is pathetic.
I've seen you around here for 3 hours and I don't like you already.
People like you actually annoy me. No genre of music is idiotic you just dont like the sound of it. To label it idiotic is pathetic.
IT'S NOT ABOUT THE FUCKING SOUND It's about the idiotic genre that makes no sense why label stuff by their record labels, makes no fucking sense and from the little I've heard indie sounds like folk rock or something like that.
It's not like it's the fault of the musicians really. When Folk and non british alt-rock was the only thing that was really not being picked up, the only independent thing was that stuff. Society has just run with it since. The best you can do is just not use the term.
So what the heck kinda stuff is indie pop just pop with independent labels or folk rock pop?
cheaply made iMac hipster tunes.
IT'S NOT ABOUT THE FUCKING SOUND It's about the idiotic genre that makes no sense why label stuff by their record labels, makes no fucking sense and from the little I've heard indie sounds like folk rock or something like that.
You misunderstand, indie can mean both "independant record label" and a style of music. :downs:
So what the heck kinda stuff is indie pop just pop with independent labels or folk rock pop?
Stuff like Tegan & Sara, Vampire Weekend, of Montreal, The Shins, Cut Copy, MGMT.
You misunderstand, indie can mean both "independant record label" and a style of music. :downs:
Mostly nowadays used as a genre which is stupid
Stuff like Tegan & Sara, Vampire Weekend, of Montreal, The Shins, Cut Copy, MGMT.
Basically yeah. Indie styled music with pop hooks
Mostly nowadays used as a genre which is stupid
why ? Evolution of vocabulary ?
It's even used as a stereotype too, so now I personally do not care about the word in any way. It's a dumb concept that means nothing. Music is good though. :downs:
why ? Evolution of vocabulary ?
http://www.last.fm/tag/indie
Mostly nowadays used as a genre which is stupid
Why is it stupid to use it as a genre? It's a pretty particular sound that is described
Not an album, an EP Meh, wasn't expecting much
Mental, but mental in a good way. 10/10
