4/10 Some of the studio trickery doesn't seem all that impressive now as it might have back in the early 70s, but damn this is a damn good album. The back up vocals in Time and Eclipse sound gorgeous and David Gilmour's guitar solos are always a hit while the lyrics still ring true and are pretty funny. Everyone's heard this album now and if you haven't well you just haven't musiced.
You give 4/10 for a "damn good album"? :what:
You give 4/10 for a "damn good album"? :what:
well like I said in the beginning some of the studio trickery doesn't seem all that impressive now as it might have back in the early 70s.
well like I said in the beginning some of the studio trickery doesn't seem all that impressive now as it might have back in the early 70s.
And because of that the album is below average?
Beastie Boys - Hot Sauce Committee Part Two I give it a 8/10. I loved every single song on it and It's nice to see The Beastie Boys are still fresh even to this day.
And because of that the album is below average?
Well yeah. I did say I enjoyed it but because of its problems I have to be truthful and give it a fair rating. Like I really liked Citizen Kane, but because in that scene where Kane's mother signs Charles away and she opens a window, it changes height without explanation between shots, so I can't say it's really that great of a film and in my book I gave it a 3/10.
your ratings system is fucked
well like I said in the beginning some of the studio trickery doesn't seem all that impressive now as it might have back in the early 70s.
Well, I don't understand your logic at all.

9/10 Just everything about it was great, the instrumentals are godlike, and the thing that got it so far in my charts is the vocals, fucking beautiful. [editline]25th June 2011[/editline] It's also a shame Wilco hasn't made anything as near as good anytime soon..
The Mars Volta - the Bedlam in Goliath 3/29 Honestly I really had a hard time listening to this. The singer's voice sounds annoying when he does that high-pitched effect thing and the band overplays everything in every measure. Some parts were pretty cool though but they have to screw it up by sucking afterwards. This sounds like people making fun of the Mars Volta.
3/29 Wut [editline]26th June 2011[/editline] Why can't you just give it a 1/10
Why can't you just give it a 1/10
3/29 is more accurate.

Hold on, let me maths... it's just over 1 isn't it? Too late for this. Anyway yeah... Bedlam isn't their best, but I enjoy it. I think it's Pridgen, the drumming which takes it over the dge possibly, he can't hold back, and it's much more aggressive in the mix.
Electro-shock Blues - Eels Mark Oliver Everett is a goddamn genius. I feel so terribly bad for him; his father was a genius and came up with the theory that whenever any variation is made to anything, an alternate reality is created. He rarely spoke with his family and died of a heart attack at age 51. Mark Oliver Everett, E, the leader of Eels, was the first to find him when he was 19. As quoted, "It was fucking weird, that was the first time I can remember touching him. He was just dead, and I moved him." A year or so before this album was written, E's sister Elizabeth commit suicide. The first song on the album, "Elizabeth on the Bathroom Floor" is written regarding this. Shortly after Elizabeth took her own life, Mark's (E's) mother wound up with cancer and died after a short while. Electro-shock Blues is Mark's way of dealing with his fucked up family history, imo. I can't give specific songs to listen to, the whole album is a depressing emotional experience that is brilliant. 10/10 warning: will ruin your nice day.
The first time I even touched the album I listened to the whole thing while lying on my bed, with no distractions. By the time "PS You Rock My World" had started I was so fucking down, but that song is just fucking mind blowing, and overall makes the album for me. [editline]26th June 2011[/editline] Pageking? Better do a review: This is a seriously impressive album which is fantastically put together. Songs like Vicarious, The Pot, Rosetta Stoned and Right in Two are just nothing short of brilliant. However the album falls short in its drawn out ambient moments which are intriguing but overall pointless, seeing as the songs barely flow with each other anyway. Maynard proves his pretentious unlikeablity with the lyrics which are just ridiculous. Despite the questionable themes and poor flow there are some fantastic musical moments here. 9/10
The Bedlam in Goliath is better than De-Loused and Octahedron - FACT
my friend got me to listen to body count by body count. i rate it 10/10
The self titled was alright.
Well a ghost is born was also pretty good too, but in comparison to YHF, it will remain king.
Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a memory Telling the story of a young man (Nicholas) who begins going through regression therapy to stop a recurring dream about a girl who he has never seen before. This concept album by Progressive metal Dream Theater combines skilled acoustic work with insane metal thrashing. This is one of their best albums to date, and has, in my humble opinion, the best story to discuss about with others.
What an amazing reveww

Electric Wizard - Dopethrone Well, my first thought when listening to this is "God, this is heavy", quickly followed by nausea. There's something about the heavy bass that my body can't handle, I guess :v: It took a while for me to get used to the sound, hence why I haven't listened to it properly until now. And this really isn't as brilliant as people make it out to be. Sure, the riffs are great, the droning arrangements blew my brains out, but after said brains were blown not much more happened. Maybe I just don't "get" stoner metal, but I really think there should be more to an album than being as heavy as possible. Maybe this is necessary though, an experiment of sound, but it didn't do much for me. That said, some of the tracks are very enjoyable, especially the longer ones. I particularly enjoyed Weird Tales/Electric Frost/Golgotha/Altar of Melektaus, clocking in at 15 minutes 3 seconds, since the drone-doom part in the middle was as close as the album got to a change of pace. I liked Funerapolis for the same reason, but instead of slowing down the track was a bit more energetic and faster than the rest. The main riff of the song is nothing short of amazing, either. Overall a good album, but definitely not deserving of the cult status it has achieved. 6/10
