I put a lot of thought into it, go away
Too much think, need more feel. :smug:

Frank Zappa - The Best Band You've Never Heard In Your Life 2 stars mostly boring jams. their covers are pretty cool tough.
System of a Down - System of a Down (1998) 5/5 I'll always prefer the style they had on this album than the others
SBTRKT - SBTRKT 9/10 One of my favorite albums of the year so far. Blew my expectations away.
Too much think, need more feel. :smug:
I was trying to capture the feeling of the music with my pseudo genres :3
Midori - Hello Everyone. Nice To Meet You. We Are Midori. This is what happens when you take crazy honky-tonk piano, a naked drummer, a contra-bass and a batshit insane yelling Japanese schoolgirl with a guitar. The songs mix noise rock, punk, and some 'cute singing' intermezzo's and blend them into a big sociopathic album, supported by overactive piano and walls of feedback. 10/10
Shadows Collide With People - John Frusciante By far his most polished work, and full of emotion as with everything he's done. 18 tracks that change, from electo-only songs, to guitar and back again without skipping a beat. Amazing. 10/10
SBTRKT - SBTRKT - 2011 A- Another post-dubstep release of the year that is gonna get people interested in this new "creative" style of dubstep music making. We have elements of funk and "cleanly recorded sounds" playing their parts here. It reminds me of some of the sounds on the Jamie Woon album, but this is a bit less of the "modern blue-eyed r&b soul" and more "modern contemporary r&b soul". Which basically doesn't mean much other than it probably has better vocals than the Woon album. I didn't think much of the female vocalist here, but she didn't exactly make it bad. The sounds range from being nice and soothing with that clean delivery of smooth dubstep, tracks like "Ready Set Loop" and the final track "Go Bang". Other than that, we have some quite nice, creative, well flowing contemporary post-dubstep. Genre makes no sense, but the music is "cleanly done" which I think adds to the factor of this new "POST-DUBSTEP" hype. A worthy one of the year, but don't expect James Blake here because this isn't Dubstep Soul like I like to call that record. Neither is it that minimal or does it create atmospheres. I may listen to this more than James Blake and Jamie Woon but it is slightly below Blake's effort with his debut. Speaking of which, this is a debut which adds to the surprise. Good stuff.
Where's thisispain with the new Bjork single?
Where's thisispain with the new Bjork single?
that's not an album!

[release][/release] For Emma, Forever Ago - Bon Iver Folk-rock almost, with a quiet, relaxing and peaceful tone to it. The singer has one of my favorite voices, it's very relaxing and unique, and it fits so well with everything else. The kind of album you almost forget it's on, it just flows that nicely. 10/10

10/10 I really enjoyed this album, not a bad track on it. Look forward to listening heavily in the future. Psychedelic rock done exactly how I like it, with a Pink Floyd quirk to it.

A Great album. Canadian indie/alt. rock at its finest. At first I was pretty underwhelmed but I did keep wanting to listen to it again. This isn't really a band that shouts out for attention in their melodies and instrumentation; they keep things a lot more toned down. They're sorta like Arcade Fire without the strings, but they are just as dramatic but more subtle.
Kerker - Extinction Ceremony: A Death Rite In Three Acts (2008) Drone/Dark Ambient 4/5 While this is on tape it can be downloaded legally from the label here http://heathennoise.blogspot.com/2009/10/freq003-kerker-extinction-ceremony.html which is where I got it. The album is made mostly up of textured drones and light noise in the background. The first song lacks many of the textures and sounds like some eerie space drone or something. It's a good song but no where near the second and third. The main problems are the feedback at the end of the the last track and this random synth in the first song. But overall some great Dark Ambient.
"Trapped Inside" by Lack Of Interest (1999) Powerviolence/Hardcore Punk Lots of furious energy in this record. Average track length is about 30 seconds, but there's a huge amount of fury packed in them. I wouldn't say every track is stunning, but I wouldn't say it really has any weak tracks either - it's consistently energetic the whole way through and doesn't tire or lose momentum. I dig it. 4/5.
Terence Trent D'Arby - Neither Fish Nor Flesh - 1989 A+ The album that essentially... killed his pop career. And I mean that, because the album before this, has sold 15 million copies. This was a complete commercial disaster due its complete outlandish nature. But damn, who gives a shit about what the mainstream think, this is possibly the best soul album experience I've had in a while. The voice, is there. I don't want to compare because soul voices, good ones, are never alike. What's good about this album, is that there is something bigger going on than just a bunch of pop soul songs like I expected. I put the needle on the record, and I was immersed in these big, brash, cool sounds that really put me into submission. It rocks too, and in my opinion the only psychedelic soul album to come out of the pop era. This album had no singles, understandably. They're meant to be heard on this as an album. I'm amazed really, not that it didn't appeal to the mainstream, but that he really did something more to just a nice voice and turn it into something out of this world.
Fennesz - Endless Summer Nice ambient tracks that mesh together lovely textures and colours of sound. The tracks seem to kind of stay where they are rather than evolve in any way, which makes this good for a certain kind of listening. A good album to listen to in a calm, detached way. 3/5 So far this is my favourite Autechre album. The beats are unpredictable and alive and the melodies have a strange, cold mood to them. Not as mechanical as some autechre I've listened to but still quite cold, especially compared to Boards of Canada, with all their sentimentality. 4.2/5
Ritual, The black dahlia murder. 11/10 Now i didn't really like deflorate like a lot of other people did, The last really good album i have heard from TBDM was miasma, and this album... It blew me away. The riffs are amazing, The drums are symbolic and beat you down, The vocals are astounding and the entire album comes together nicely, Den of the Picquerist and a shrine to madness were my favourites on this album, The first shows an astounding punk influence, and the second an astounding lead and rhythm guitar. Forgot to add in the crushing bass. That was most of the reason i liked it. It's great low end.
You can't do 11/10
Mathematically, you can.
You can't do 11/10
In this case it's perfectly possible because I just listened to it again (6th or 7th time through since it came out I think so I've got a pretty good impression of it) and it's pretty godly. Better than Deflorate for sure, but I'm not sure if it's as good as Nocturnal. Nocturnal is fucking amazing, one of the best albums I've ever listened to. We'll see how Ritual compares over time, I guess :v:
Mathematically, you can.
1 and 1/10th
1 and 1/10th
Or 11/10?
