The Police - Outlandos d'Amour The Police's debut album. Has some pretty catchy songs on like So Lonely, Born In The 50's and Roxanne, overall not amazingly genre-breaking but not overly shite either. 8/10
Van der Saar - Red Circle It's like Mogwai and Bon Iver had a lovechild. 8/10
Looked it up, it's free! Listening to it now, I'll let you know what I think http://vandersaar.bandcamp.com/album/red-circle
Alabama Thunderpussy - "Constellation" Stoner Rock/Southern Metal Holy SHIT. That's what nearly every track is making me say. "HOLY SHIT!" and then groove the fuck out. Fucking amazing shit. Has a huge, triumphant, really powerful sound to it, but at the same time is really groovy and feel-good. Uplifting as hell. This record feels really fucking long too, but in a very good way. Good because it's so awesome and there's a lot of it! 5/5.

Listening to it now, I'll let you know what I think http://vandersaar.bandcamp.com/album/red-circle
7/10 Drops at points, and some lyrics are very lyric-writing 101, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I'll listen to it more later, loved the mood of it.

9.9/10 Wonderful melodies and orchestration and very emotional at times. The very last song sounds like Steve Reich's vomit though.
5/10 Didn't really like it, it wasn't post rock, it was more electronic.
Cunninlynguists - Oneirology 9/10 Great beats and great vocals.

Pretty usual electric wizard but with more ambient stuff I just can't get that interested in this band. 8/10
9/10 Awesome album with particularly great clean vocals, definitely bringing something new to the melodic death metal scene; it's progressive melodeath, after all. The proggy polyrhythm guitarwork compliments the harder riffage perfectly, and manages not to sound pretentious, complimenting the songs in general despite being used liberally. Only reason I don't give this a 10/10 is because the wall of sound technique is getting old for me, like it's an excuse not to compose properly; that, and the vocalist dude's growls aren't great, they feel very secondary.
Malajube - Trompe-l'Œil Québécois indie rock, one of the few francophone albums that became popular in English-speaking regions and even in the United States. It reminds me of Franz Ferdinand somehow. It features guest artists Pierre Lapointe (Montréal -40°C) and Loco Locass (La Russe), and speaking of La Russe, it's one of the few hip hop songs that I like. Loco Locass is a very liberal and nationalist group, and I don't agree with their beliefs, but they know how to rap. They don't swear constantly and their lyrics are very smart with satisfying word plays and clever sonority. That's just one song out of twelve though. The rest of the album is full of catchy indie rock songs, Montréal -40°C being the most popular track, featured in commercials and a video game, but I liked everything I heard in it. My only gripes with it are that it's hard to understand what's being sung over all the instruments, and [sp]the hidden track taking way too long to kick in after the end of the last listed one[/sp]. Apparently every song has something to do with some medical condition.
6/10 As much as I don't want to compare this to Quadrophenia, I can't help it. Even some of the plot points were slightly reminiscent of it. And compared to Quadrophenia, its not great. Its a good example of a rock opera, but not perfect by any standards
Aww, I loved Operation Mindcrime. Great concept too :3:
Aww, I loved Operation Mindcrime. Great concept too :3:
It was a great concept, there's just others that I'd prefer to listen to
Master Musician's of Bukkake darkly enchanting psychedelic folk shit with some drone sensibilities. I dig it. 7/10 Iggy Pop - The Idiot was totally surprised with this. a really different album in Iggy's career. David Bowie was responsible for the direction this album took I guess, which makes it sound more like Berlin-era Bowie than anything Iggy did before or after. The album is some of the darkest and coldest pop that isn't on Bowie's Low. Oh and Ian Curtis hanged himself while listening to this, I guess I can't get around mentioning that. 8/10
Got this cranking right now Reminds me of a heavier, more downtuned, less musical sabbath I like it
6.8/10, going to give it some more listens. Listening to this right now Just listened to this 6 or 7/10, was strange, I really enjoyed it. I've never listened to anything like it before. I'll be listening to more stuff like it Listening to this for the first time today Heard a lot about them, going to give them a try
Air-Premiers Symptomes I am a big fan of Air they are probably my favourite band at the moment. I have listened to most of their other albums, so I decided to listen to Premiers Symptomes which is their first. The 1999 re-release that I listened two had 7 songs. These are slow and very melodic. I really like this album it seems beautiful Favourite song-Le Soleil Est Pres de Moi 9/10 Air - The Virgin Suicides This is a film score and I think is Air's worse album, it is good but I think that they had to incorporate the film so it doesn't sound as much like air It is good but doesn't really have that many memorable tracks. Favourite song - Playground love Overall 6/10 Now I need to listen to Love 2 and I will be complete
9.5/10 Listen to the whole album without at least tapping your foot and you deserve some sort of boob-encrusted medal, theres so much raw power and British anger taken out into music it's insane. Favourite punk album so far for sure.
A+ 90s britpop at its finest. Fantastic look at British life and romance at shit. Plus Jarvis Cocker has one of the sexiest voices in music history.

fantastic playing with a really cool style. Ulmer is a great jazz guitarist with a cool sound and style. backing him up is violin (which is electronicly treated i think) and drums. awesome little record. 8/10
Looks like him <
Odyssey is one of my favorite albums. You should also check out "Tales of Captain Black".
awesome, thanks
As Cities Burn - Son I Loved You At Your Darkest 7.5/10 A great album that lives in the shadows of the bigger acts of the genre such as Underoath and Thrice. Musically complex at times and interesting throughout. A great listen if you are a fan of good experimental post-hardcore. If you are a fan of the bands later works you might be caught off guard by this album, its quite a bit different and it isn't for everyone. Vocals could be a lot better though, screams are good but cleans are obnoxiously whiny at times.
wow I should maybe proof read my writeups a bit more. anyway. grooves so well. First track is some nice guitar noodling, but the rest is way better. tons of energy and... funk. basically it's awesome. 8/10
Minor Threat - Complete Discography All Minor Threat songs in one album, running at only 47 minutes, not really a big discography, but still great material. Probably my favourite hardcore band. 8/10
Arcade Fire - Funeral I've seen a couple of "meh" review on this one, especially concerning the vocals. I really don't understand why, I love the vocals. Well, sometimes they are a little forced(see: Crown of Love) but on the whole I think they're great. I much prefer vocals to be a little bit off-pitch at times but with a lot of emotions rather than being perfectly in-key and boring, without emotion. These fall into the first category. The instrumentation is great too, I love how they make use of strings and horns. The guitarwork is great as well, it doesn't draw so much attention to itself, in a pretty standard indie rock fashion. I don't really get the whole "Neighbourhood" thing, the songs don't seem to have that much in common. Not much more to say, I think everyone should listen to it.
