Awesome fusion of Jazz and Chiptune, nice to see these guys finally release something after 4 years since their last EP. Though was fairly dissapointed at the length, but still a very enjoyable album.

The instrumentals are a bit generic Post-Hardcore but the vocals are really enjoyable.

I can totally see why someone would find Tool boring, but how can you say Maynards voice sucks?
Just listen to it:

Holy shit I don't like the new media tags at all, they're huge. I never even view videos from the tags, I always go to the source.
Thank god, quoting makes them smaller.

Recently decided I would give Godspeed You! Black Emperor a try after all the buzz I have heard about them in the past. I started with F♯ A♯ ∞.
This album expresses a very dark, apocalyptic atmosphere that I enjoy quite a lot. It's hard to explain if you haven't already heard it, but I'll do my best to try. The Dead Flag Blue starts the album off with a narrative that really sets the tone for the rest of the album. It then segues into a what I would describe as a almost the soundtrack to a western film, then ending with a section glockenspiel and violin. The next track, East Hastings, starts with the sounds of a man preaching on the streets, backed by bagpipes. It then evolves slowly into a mix of guitar and other stringed instruments. Providence ends the album with, starting with more dialogue from a man speaking of the state of things. This track, being longer than the previous two, has much more room to expand. It brings together what we've heard previously, instrumentally at least. After a period of silence, the album comes back with a louder melody of drums and guitars. This then creeps out and ends the album softly.
This album really is something that needs to be heard to understand. F♯ A♯ ∞ is honestly one of the best albums I have ever heard. To end on, here is a portion of the narrative that starts the album:
The car's on fire and there's no driver at the wheel
And the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides
And a dark wind blows
The government is corrupt
And we're on so many drugs
With the radio on and the curtains drawn
We're trapped in the belly of this horrible machine
And the machine is bleeding to death
The sun has fallen down
And the billboards are all leering
And the flags are all dead at the top of their poles
great album, now go listen to the rest... you absolutely won't be let down. (well, don't let Yanqui be the last one you hear if you like saving the best for last :p)

Hounds of Love - Kate Bush
O bjork how could you! you pretended you were unique and special! now i find out you stole all your tricks from someone far before you
it's okay though, i forgive you, because you are by far not the only one.
hounds of love is a wonderfully strange album that turns into an irish jig at the end. fans of bjork's post will certainly appreciate the eclecticism but the 80's production strangles the songs.

Brand New - Daisy. I love this album. A lot. It may not be their best songwriting, although At The Bottom, which I consider probably their best song is on it, but the atmosphere and mood it creates is incredible. It's a mix of depression, anger and paranoia, to an extent that I have never heard before and it's fascinating. Lyrics as good as normal, and there is no song it I think "Ugh, don't like that bit" at all. Some great sounds on it, especially the drums, which have a real Lo-Fi, pumped quality to them.
A+
Must get that album... Why don't I listen to it :(
Totally forgot to mention the outro and intro. Shameless wikipedia grabbing:
The opening music at the start of "Vices" and closing music at the end of "Noro" is "On Life's Highway," a gospel hymn written by Bertrand Brown.
It really adds to it

I'd get that and The Devil and God definately. I don't like their first album at all, and Deja Entendu is quite... thin to me, but still good. But those 2 albums are amazing.
Wire - Pink Flag

Punk at its most minimal. Punk was a pretty new genre and I guess these guys looked at the Ramones and said, "nahh this is too complex. Let's have even shorter songs with even less chords." They're just as good at rockin' out as the Ramones do though. For a short but great blast of classic punk check this out.
Pink Floyd - The Final Cut (1983)

I thought I'd finally give this a listen. It's a great album, don't get me wrong, but there are many problems I have with it. The main issue is the lack of "Floyd" per se. It's basically as Waters as Momentary Lapse was Gilmour - in the essence that it wasn't true Pink Floyd but rather Roger doing it on his own accord and the others (Gilmour and Mason) as guest musicians. To me it feels like a really cheap mooch off of The Wall (which for the same reason I didn't like) in that Waters felt after the success of The Wall he'd try to do another concept album and basically control the whole thing with few contributions of the other members.
Not only that, but in addition to the no-Floyd sound, Rick Wright isn't present in the album. Yes, Kamen's string contributions are great, but it doesn't make the Cut. To be totally honest, this doesn't feel like a Pink Floyd album at all to me. The Wall barely made that for me, but to be totally honest, The Division Bell was more Floyd to me. I'm not a Roger Hater at all, in fact I got gold tickets to see The Wall Live Tour, but really without the 4 members here and 2 of the members doing little to songwriting other than playing their instruments, it feels like something Roger can just bicker about to claim it was his. As said, the album isn't bad, just lacks the Floyd charm.

Really great math rock album. Horse Hunter features Brent Hinds of Mastodon. The album has one point were it feels a little boring, but it picks right back up and is in my opinion the best of their 4 current albums.
Porcupine Tree - Stupid Dream

A-
You ever listen to a really depressing album to cheer yourself up? This is one of them. Porcupine Tree's "Stupid Dream" has a constant mood of wistful melancholy. At points where the album gets too depressing, something's always brought in to lighten the mood ever so slightly, such as the saxophone solo in "Don't Hate Me". It can seem like a bit of a slog to get through, but it soon begins to flow and segue very elegantly. Brilliant album.

Defeater - Lost Ground (9.5/10)
Not a full album but an EP, from my latest obsession Defeater. Its a disheartening concept album that tells the story of the unfortunate life of a WWII veteran, in under 20 minutes. It may be hard to believe but this is as close to perfection as an album like this gets. Highly recommend it for anyone who has even a remote interest in hardcore (particularly melodic/post-hardcore) or good storytelling.

One of Scar Symmetry's best albums. Everyone hates Lars, but cut the guy some slack. He's got some big shoes to fill and does a hell of a job at it. Also, the riffs at the beginning of "Seers of the Eschaton" are fucking INSANE.

Natalia Kills is an English singer-songwriter, actress and director.
Formerly she was performing as Hip Hop musician called "Verbalicious".
Her debut album Perfectionist is electro pop with gothic and dark feeling in it.

This girl can sing and write songs with very meaningful lyrics without embellishing them.
She is only herself, without mimicking any other artists in the industry.

Creep On Creepin' On
7/10
A very bluesy album with some interesting instrumentation. Gives off a sort of melancholy tone, which is good considering the album is about struggles with love. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the echo on the vocals that every song has, but it definitely sets the mood nicely. Overall, pretty good.
[editline]welp[/editline]
I listened to the album a few more times. This album is a grower, especially the vocals. I'd probably give it an 8/10 now. I would have edited this sooner, but my ISP screwed up and my entire neighborhood lost internet connection.

Astonishingly beautiful with its simplicity, best enjoyed nonstop start-to-finish. All songs united by the common theme of radios, radio waves, and radioactivity. Most songs are seamlessly linked to each other, but fade outs are employed later on.
Kraftwerk shows their true progressive spirit in this album, rivaled by their previous release, Autobahn.
