I figured you were 17-18 too
I am. I'm joking. Seriously though, I felt the same way about Radiohead when I first heard them, but once you grow to appreciate the influence they have and the drastic evolution they underwent (and are still undergoing, really) they become a much better band. OK Computer definitely isn't a one-listen album.

I loved it at first listen, and I was like 13 at the time :v:
In my own humble opinion Kid A is obviously the superior Radiohead album and you're wrong if you say otherwise.
Yeah, but it's less accessible.. Whatever that means.
Yeah, but it's less accessible.. Whatever that means.
it's only less accessible
if ur a babby
Hail To The Thief was clearly the superior album.
Amnesiac is clearly the superior album.

Been listening to this loads. I've had a hard time finding albums that really click with me lately, so this has been great.
It's pretty chilled out which really works for me.
8/10
I should really listen to Porcupine Tree as well
So much new music
I recommend you start with Fear of a Blank Planet.
[editline]26th July 2011[/editline]
Followed by On the Sunday of Life, In Absentia and The Incident.
No love for Deadwing? :c

9/10 fucking awesome album.
Any other albums you funkers wholeheartedly recommend for me? I'm just starting to listen to them!
Stupid Dream and In Absentia are in my opinion the best PT albums.
Deadwing, Fear of a Blank Planet and The Sky Moves Sideways are after that.
Then theres the rest and The Incident is last.
Why? Because i thought it was INCREDIBLY boring compared to In Absentia or Stupid Dream or any of the other albums.
No love for Deadwing? :c
I love Deadwing! Its probably my favorite PT album, I will admit it probably isn't their best work but I like it more than In Asentia, Fear of a Blank Planet (both of which are my other two favorites), and definitely more than The Incident which was really boring imo.
foabp > the sky moves sideways > in absentia > up the downstairs > deadwing imho, still need to listen to PT's other albums not mentioned itp
anyways

7/10, good album. wouldn't call it "the next justice" like some people are due to filler (not just the intermissions). however a lot of full tracks just aren't as solid as love in motion, jack wire, c.t.f.o, etc..
good day for music

wowowow. groovy, dark, mysterious, weird, and of course the playing is just awesome. definitely gotta get the other albums from this era, and also check out more john mclaughlin albums

Fair to Midland - Arrows and Anchors
2.7/5
I didn't want to give this album a 2 or 3 or a 2.5 so I settled with a 2.7. I was recommended it by a few friends who really like Fair to Midland. I dunno, it's mostly generic alt-rock with some irish influences and guttural "screaming". Tracks 12-15 were pretty decent and the instrumental interludes they had between some songs were pretty decent.
Finally gonna start listening to some Opeth (I know, I know, I'm way behind), Still Life a good place to start or no? Probably gonna rate the first one I listen to too.

Asteroid - II
8/10
Aww yea
some psychedelic stoner rock that reminds me of Jefferson Aeroplane
Karma is a great, GREAT song.
And the singers voice is powerful, love it.

this next

Then maybe Divison Bell by PF
I really love Third, but Dummy and s/t I can't get into. It's the way Beth Gibbons' voice is different.
I just got recommended by a /mu/ thread in essential bawcore and it said that it was kind of electronic so I figured it was worth a try
I'm liking this album
[editline]27th July 2011[/editline]
55:12 that is

7/10
Some songs were great, others were not. Everybody was so hyped over them, I think it was unnecessary.

shame on you
protip: Third is a better album
I might look into it
this album is okay but it doesn't grab me
it's not what I expected though, thought trip hop would be rapping and whatnot but it's more of a softly spoken melody kind of thing with instruments like drums and scratch tables and stuff in the background
I like it better that way though
Trip hop is good, I'm going to have a look at it and some shoegazing after I go through the prog
That said

Great album!
thought trip hop would be rapping and whatnot
Well there does exist trip-hop with rapping like Massive Attack and Assive Attokcccccccccccccccccccccccccccccdddcccccccccccccccccccccccccccc
I'm looking back to 3 of the first albums my cousin bought for my eleventh birthday to get me more into music. Here's the first one:
Kasabian-Kasabian(self-titled)
I'm new to facepunch and not great with computers. Couldn't figure out how to put the cover out on. Just google it!
What I rated back then: 8/10. I thought "Club Foot" was mana from heaven, and played it on my discman before everyone of my little league games. All of those upbeat songs in this album i loved, but some songs i just didn't get. Some of the less straight-up songs, like "I.D." and "Pinch Roller" were just to different for me to appreciate back then.
What I rate it now: 9/10. Now that I have explored music more, I've fallen in love with "different" albums like Radiohead's OK Computer, Since my days as a youth I now appreciate the samplings of electronic rock. I've also fallen love with "Test Transmission", a song i barely listened to as a youth. I also love the great darkness in "Ovary Stripe" now. "Ovary Stripe" is one of those songs that make me wish Christopher Karloff was still with the band. Kasabian nowadays just doesn't have that certain oomph that that first album had. Don't get me wrong, they're still a top-tier band, but they don't stand out as much anymore.
This post is getting long so i'll post the other albums in different posts. k bye. :)
