I must've listened to like, 18 new albums in the last 2 weeks and only enjoyed 2 of them
I should stick with what I know, working through all this music that I end up not liking is a chore

Don't force yourself if that's what it feels like. Music shouldn't be a chore, dawg.
I feel I should give everything a chance, I've recently wanted to expand my musical horizons so I tried a whole lot of stuff
really the only stuff I've enjoyed recently are Souvlaki by Slowdive, most of the pink floyd albums and Karnivool's EP
I found Daft Punk to have a couple decent songs but just not my bag, Aphex Twin to be boring (from what I've heard, need to listen to more but I don't really want to, hence a 'chore')
Hawkwind and space rock in general is legit though
If you found that you really like Space Rock, instead of trying 20 new genres, stick with what you have newly discovered until you want to move onto the next. :)
I guess it wasn't all in vain
I listened to mono and sleepmakeswaves instead and sleepmakeswaves were good enough for them to become my new avatar
also sonic attack is weird as fuck
Yeah, I think as we get older we start to "get" into the weirdness.
When I first heard The Beatles properly at about 13 or 14 I wasn't really getting it. It's weird to explain because I had listened to a lot more R&B and Hip Hop around those times.
Getting into stuff like Metal and Jazz were pretty difficult and took its time to sink in.
Nowadays I can't really think of much that really disappoints me.
bro there is weirdness and there is the SONG sonic attack, not album specifically
I mean, what the fuck?
"Use your wheels, it is what they are for"
"Metal, not flesh, should be used wherever possible"
"There will be bleeding from orifices"
???
Yeah... that's psychedelic. Be careful with Hawkwind. :)
Get their In Search of Space album. It's awesome.
so you said
that's on my list, I'm going to treat myself and listen to stuff I enjoy for a couple days before I try anything new.
The Killers need to be abused, and I'll do a rate album thing of theirs right now

Now the twelve-fourteen year old me bought this as one of the first albums I'd own. I got it after hearing when you were young on guitar hero, and little did mini-me know I had excellent taste
There is not a song on this album that isn't great. Brandon Flowers is an incredible vocalist, with a tone and range which belong to a god. The guitar is especially tasty on this album, and they keyboard played by flowers is also a great touch to every song.
They're a talented, innovative band and their songs are extremely catchy and fun to listen to, play and chill to. You'll find yourself humming or singing along to any of these songs before you know it during your daily life, today while I waited for my psychology teacher I inadvertently hummed This River Is Wild before I knew what I was doing
A+, in my top ten albums for sure
Listening to DJ Shadow's "The Outsider" album.
It's not bad, but apparently he's quoted saying it's his best.
I'll have to dig deep into what he's thinking.

I thought it wasn't as good as sam's town but it had a lot of classics on there
[editline]11th August 2011[/editline]
And Dustland Fairlytale from Day & Age, I disagree with you I think that Sam is their best but the others are still good albums at the very least

just out of curiosity... what sort of music do you mainly listen to?
post rock and instrumental things
post rock and instrumental things
How did you manage to get into Post Rock without getting into more popular things first?
gosh snip
How did you manage to get into Post Rock without getting into more popular things first?
I went from pop, to pop rock, to Emo, to rock, to country, to classic rock, to classic metal, to metal, to blues, to jazz, to psychedelic, to progressive rock, to progressive metal and now I'm trying to branch out, which is why I asked for Space Rock suggestions.

The only genres I needed help for were Nintendocore and Grindcore.
Luckily Stizzles was there to help, where is that guy. :(
Everything I like I liked from the first listen
That includes extreme metal
I hate forcing myself to listen to stuff

So you listen to a punk rock album that you don't like then decide you hate the entire genre?
So you listen to a punk rock album that you don't like then decide you hate the entire genre?
What, no
Of course not
But I wouldn't listen to that album again
Maybe once more some time later to see if I still dislike it but that's it
How did you manage to get into Post Rock without getting into more popular things first?
I just did
I just did
First Post Rock album I did was Bark Psychosis' Hex, then you told me to get an Explosions in the Sky album.
Was awesome.
Then I listened to GIAA and my mind was blown
I was all

It's the person who is listening that has to incorporate their mind into the music. Not the music that has to change. :smug:

9/10
Love the guitar work on this album. I'm usually fussed by how excellent the guitars are on albums and stuff, but damn, Opeth push all the right buttons with the amount of groovy riffs and acoustical work on this album. The vocals are damn sexy as well, I'm almost not looking forward to Heritage because there will be no harsh vocals.
