Not the most distinct Indie sounding record, I liked it a lot actually. This is very emotional and personal I feel... and the reason why I'm not rating this considerably higher is that it didn't particularly make me feel how the artist wanted me to feel.
For example, "The Dark Side of the Moon" makes me feel precisely how the artist wants me to feel and there is no escaping that. With this one, you can simply accept what is going on and take on what it is ranting about, even though as melodious as it may be.. it doesn't steal your heart like something Radiohead could make.
Still one to recommend.

It took me a few listens to really get into it. [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCIx6HUpVs0]We Will Become Silhouettes[/url] is a particularly good one. Me and the little attention I pay to lyrics was the reason I didn't really see how great it was from the start. Sounds really happy for what it's actually about.

Brilliant ambient album. From Jón Þór Birgisson (Jónsi) of Sigur Rós and his boyfriend Alex Sommers. Haven't put a whole lot of thought into how much it does or doesn't sound like Sigur Rós. It's just really really good calming stuff though. First ambient album that I really listened to. It's really really good good is all I'm saying.

This is actually fantastic. It leaked really early, so naturally people put it straight onto Youtube. Listened to it through on there. Wasn't a huge fan of the debut, though maybe that'd be down to the fact that I haven't really listened to it a whole lot. But this second album is much better. So much happier, with more going on. Same kind of reaction I had to Vampire Weekend's second album, which kicked the first one's ass.
Bedouin Dress, the second track, really caught my attention. Definitely recommend this album if you liked the first. And if you haven't listened to Fleet Foxes yet, then you should, in whatever order you like. Chronological is best though.

Not much of a "compilation album" fan, but I thought I'd give this a go because it seemed interesting.
I don't really feel fulfilled by this in terms of the songs it represents. As an album it is okay, it seems to be set out quite well instead of most compilations where they don't really put effort of tracklists and just chuck on there whatever they dear please.
This on the other hands seems to take some sort of idea of John Lennon and plonk it down into one well structured album.
The grading may seem low, but to be honest... compilations in general don't really deserve the great recognition that they usually get. For example, a Beatles compilation doesn't seem intriguing or paint much of an idea with the artist's intent of the songs, however the LOVE album defies this and is actually very good. Also Star Time by James Brown, which is pretty much as masterful as any compilation gets.
I'm not appealed by them in general that's all, but a few like this do seem worth giving a listen.

I've noticed that this has been noted as the most accomplished album of her's, being that it is emotional and touching, maybe her most accessible?
I personally thought this album would have painted the perfect picture of this artist. This album is said to be her deepest work, seeing as it was her last released record in her lifetime.
If you want some SORROW, listen to her "Last Recordings" album, that is basically the artist in her dying days. Just like Johnny Cash, you can hear "that" person deep within, when they record just before they die.
Still a classic and forever her most celebrated record. Sad to see her other work to be buried deep under it.

Ahead of it's time, still sounds as if it could have been made this year. That's a seemingly more difficult thing to find in records from back then.
I think it is possibly one of the more accessible records to be enjoyed by enthusiasts today. This being said, it is an emotional record. Very sincere and well put together.

has a really interesting atmosphere and with that, also a very interesting singer. the songs usually take on a bit of a post-rocky feel, no guitar heroes here. also contains lyrics ranging from the touching to the bizarre. reminds me a bit of kid-a.

I might have reviewed this in some other thread awhile ago, but I forget.
It's an interesting album, and definitely experimental. The album art itself is a good representation of just how weird and chaotic it is. Still, I think it's a pretty awesome album, and John Frusciante probably has one of my favorite voices, at least when he sings high.
8.5/10 for me, I think it's worth a listen if you like experimental, and weird concept albums.
