and the stuff they've made before isn't podracing?
yes, but this is my favourite kind of podracing. Goo is up there too, same with Washing Machine and the pleasant ones with Jim O'rourke, and Evol has my favourite song, Shadow of a Doubt. I'll give Daydream a second listen.
haven't checked out the no wave stuff much

Andrew Jackson Jihad - Knife Man
Solid 8/10
Feels forced as fuck at times, but the sound and style of this band can make anything seems forgivable. And it still can't compete with the Rabbit album.

Wilco - The Whole Love
Band Summary: I don't think many of you know Wilco. They were never a popular band, nor are they still. They've had several LPs since their start in 1995. Fun fact: They wrote the song "Someone Else's Song" which was altered by Valve and put in Team Fortress 2 as "More Gun". 2002 was the year in which they released their best album "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot". Partially why they never grew famous was because the lead singer got addicted to pain killers. And less then a week ago, they released their new album "The Whole Love"
Review: There are 12 songs on this album. Each features its own sort of liveliness, quietness, or unique atmosphere. Out of the 12, I have to say 10 are more then favorable, and the other 2 are okay, not bad, just too quiet. My absolute favorite would have to be "I Might". My second choice is "Born Alone". Overall the album is a huge success compared to their past albums. This is not one of those albums that you get and only like 1 or 2 songs, its much more then those kinds of albums. Right now its between #4 and #6 on "Top Charts" for albums on iTunes. This is one of my favorite albums and its definitely one I'll continue to listen to and probably never forget.
9.5/10
Oh and this review is not bias :v:
They are one of my favorite bands, but I do not like all of their songs they've released nor their albums.
time to listen to another wilco album in faint hope of it sounding like yhf
time to listen to another wilco album in faint hope of it sounding like yhf
Ehhh it sounds a bit different from Yhf but I still hold it high in regards.
edit: I made that sound like it was worse, sorry. I think its better.

Soulwax - Any Minute Now
Really really good actually. Nite Versions was kind of eh, and I listened to that before this. This was less electronicy I guess? Much much better. Was Nite Versions like a remix album or what. Anyway this is better way better like.
7/10 for the time being probably
should listen to it some more

Kasabian - Velociraptor (2011)
Picked this up and gave it a listen. I was never a huge Kasabian fan but this has some genuinely good stuff on it. It faulters a bit after the title track but the last two are a saving grace. Much better than I'd anticipated but there are moments where the lyrics are just shit, not just in content but the timing is awkward. Some of the tracks just don't feel polished enough.
Highlights: La Fee Verte, Velociraptor!, Let's Roll Just Like We Used To

Taskless Sheep - Meadow Mayhem
[thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5793726/Taskless%20Sheep%20-%20Meadow%20Mayhem.jpg[/thumb]
Taskless Sheep is a trio consisting of TaskBeenden, Muddasheep and TheNameless. They've made a series of HL1 mods called Halfquake, which are almost masochistic games with traps and dark atmosphere.
I really loved the sountrack of these games and when I heard about this album my reaction was pretty much FUCK YEAH
The album itself is a weird mix of industrial and rock and something, I really don't know.
9/10 it's pretty rad.

Also it's free.

Converge - Jane Doe (10/10)
This has been one of the hardest albums ever for me to get into but all of the sudden it proverbially clicked today. Everything about Jane Doe is great, the instrumentals range from technical and crushing to beautiful, but to me Jacob Bannon's voice was always a road block in front of all those things that were great about Converge. Even their lyrics are great but you can't understand a single word of them, and unfortunately for most listeners, the key to understanding Jane Doe is understanding Bannon, which he doesn't make easy. So today I sat down with the lyrics in front of me and made an effort to understand, and I dug deeper into Jane Doe than I ever did on previous tries, and lo and behold she revealed herself to me......
...Lol.
Jokes aside, this is an amazing album. If you can get past Bannon's unbridled anger, Jane Doe is one of the most comprehensive, solid, and emotionally moving metal albums of the 2000s.

Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band - Safe as Milk
***1/2
If Trout Mask Replica is too weird for you but you still wanna get into the Captain, at least check this out before writing him off as "2 deep for u". While Trout Mask Replica is a blues-rock band being thrown down a staircase, Safe as Milk is just a blues rock band being slightly buzzed. There's still some Captain Beefheart oddness goin' through but overall this is pretty accessible with some decent melodies and some just plain rockin' songs.
Oh and btw if you haven't heard anything from Trout Mask Replica before, feel glad that your sanity is still intact.

Rustie - Glass Swords
Genre: Wonky, beats, purple, glitch hop, dubstep, uk bass.
Rating: 10/10
This album sounds amazing production wise. This guy knows how to make his music sound extremely full. It's also really fun. Here's a better review.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Works Volume 1

I think I reviewed this before somewhere... hmm...
Anyways, one of the greatest (in terms of sound) experimental efforts by a rock orientated band I've heard... especially in contrast to Ummagumma (which I did like aswell). This just sounds a lot better and the mix of styles and musicianship in the album is phenominal. Particularly Lake's first side which holds his own classical piece in 3 parts. Really influential stuff.

This is the shit and I fucking love it. This, and Leprous' new album Bilateral, are modern prog. This is the kind of music people should be making. The sheer technical quality of the musicianship is awesome in itself.

Holy shit this rocks. Why wasn't this a bigger hit when it was released? Great grunge music with tints of blues and folk and 60s pop. If grunge music is within a mile of your tastes, check this out, man.

The Works volumes were among ELPs worst, I found. They certainly spelt the beginning of ELP's self destruction.

Beck - Modern Guilt (2008)
5/5
Looks like I have a thing for Danger Mouse related things
Besides Chemtrails which I thought was a pretty ehhh track, I like everything about it
Never had an interest in Beck until now so Odelay and The Information will be my next listens
Can I suggest that you also listen to Sea Change, it will give you different perspective on Beck's music.

I like 'The Information' the best. Great, wacky album. My favorite song by him is "I Think I'm In Love". There's a part in that song that I think is fantastic.

9/10 Great Melodic Black/Death Metal (it's pretty much a Dissection tribute band) with some Obscura members.
