Wilco - The Whole Love
Band Summary: I don't think many of you know Wilco. They were never a popular band, nor are they still. They've had several LPs since their start in 1995. Fun fact: They wrote the song "Someone Else's Song" which was altered by Valve and put in Team Fortress 2 as "More Gun". 2002 was the year in which they released their best album "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot". Partially why they never grew famous was because the lead singer got addicted to pain killers. And less then a week ago, they released their new album "The Whole Love"
Review: There are 12 songs on this album. Each features its own sort of liveliness, quietness, or unique atmosphere. Out of the 12, I have to say 10 are more then favorable, and the other 2 are okay, not bad, just too quiet. My absolute favorite would have to be "I Might". My second choice is "Born Alone". Overall the album is a huge success compared to their past albums. This is not one of those albums that you get and only like 1 or 2 songs, its much more then those kinds of albums. Right now its between #4 and #6 on "Top Charts" for albums on iTunes. This is one of my favorite albums and its definitely one I'll continue to listen to and probably never forget.
9.5/10
Oh and this review is not bias :v:
They are one of my favorite bands, but I do not like all of their songs they've released nor their albums.
What do you mean? I'd consider them popular. I'd bet a lot of us know them, especially because of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. That's a great album.

Now this... I'm not really sure what to rate it. Everytime I think about giving it a really high score, I think of the times that I didn't enjoy it.
Whenever I think about giving it a low score, I think of the times that I really got into it.
Anyways, this album was pretty much Pink Floyd looking for their sound, in my opinion.
Album has some goodies (title song, Fat Old Sun) and some worse ones (If, Summer '68)
Anyways, highlights are the before mentioned Atom Heart Mother and Fat Old Sun

This is, in my opinion, the spot where Pink Floyd started their awesome-period.
This album is really, really good, with mostly acoustic, chill music, with a kick ass song for a beginning and a 20-minute epic as and ending.
So yeah, there are only a few minor things I don't really like about this album, such as the crowd ending in 'Fearless'.
This album gets my seal of approval.

The Caretaker - An Empty Bliss Beyond This World - 2011
The way I found it, was random luck that I knew a guy called OctopusGuy here. I put headphones on, and let the album be absorbed.
What I got was this immediate distance from the music. It's weird because I listen to a crapload of ambient, and I've never felt anything like what this album did.
Now, call it pretentious because this album isn't your ordinary ambient album.
It's that haunted ballroom music from The Shining. But the difference here is that he somehow made it even more obvious and even more in tune with the times.
The album is basically like a decaying vinyl record from the 20s. Some may say "it's just music nobody would listen to because it's 1920s Jazz" but by adding this HAUNTING texture to it. He's made something dramatic and beautiful.

Pink Floyd's last soundtrack. A very good one at that, but just not as good as Meddle.
It gets slightly dragging overtime, since the whole album is basically instrumental and simple songs, with a few ones with vocals in between.
This album is a lot more moving and action-y than Meddle (well, atleast mostly) and has a few really badass songs.
However, with badass songs, comes worse songs and very forgettable ones too.

Hot album. Will need to listen to it and their earlier album These Four Walls before I can really compare. I probably wont bother though. I get the feeling that this album is better though. It's definitely sticking more with me anyway.
Not got much to say other than that.
Giving it an 8. It wasn't really fantastic, but for three tracks to really stick after a single listen it pretty rare for me.

Why? - Alopecia (2008)
5/5
I really like these Why?'s style on this album. I read that their other albums don't have as much hip-hop influence in them so I don't know if I will like their other stuff as much unfortunately
Uhhh, Great Gig in the Sky is fucking Amazing....The vocalist is one of only two non-members to ever sing a song for Pink Floyd. Have a Cigar being the other one.
But I understand your points, Pink Floyd doesn't do a constant rock fest, they tend to weave their music together into a story. And with any story there are highs and lows.
Wish You Were Here for example is actually a massive jab at the music industry.
Dark Side of the Moon is last Album with Syd Barrett and you can hear the remorse in every word.
Meshuggah -
Nothing
An intriguing, unique as fuck sound is perfected here. Polyrhythms, excessively downtuned chruching guitars, bass lower than the bass range itself, and tuneless aggressive vocals that yell at you louder than your dad after getting caught smoking crack.
Basically the whole sound of the album is very similar, but the actual songwriting is enough variety to give each song their own element. The sound of this album is just so fucking badass. It makes you feel like you could shoot 1,000 orphans with an AK47, makes you feel like you could nail everybody's wives and get away with it, make you feel like you're getting shot 50 times with a Barrett M82 without feeling a thing, and basically it's just a feeling undescribable. Refer to the front cover, that's my reaction to this album.
If any album has removed my doubt of the quality of modern metal, it is this. If I had to give a 21st century metal record a 10/10 rating, it would be Meshuggah's Nothing. This album was NOT made by humans.

Ehh... This album is just far from bad, but it has a lot of downsides, which is why it deserves only 4 stars.
The main downside, in my opinion, is Dogs. I just can't get into this song. It has some cool parts but overall it just feels really uninteresting and unmemorable.
However, all the other songs are good. Pigs and Sheep especially, with Pigs On The Wing, parts 1 and 2 being good a good intro and ending.
So yeah, its definitely not a bad album, but Dogs really pulls it down from a 5 star for me.

Hell yeah, The Wall! Its a nice change from the usual Pink Floyd and it is REALLY good.
The first half has a lot of good songs with a few bad ones in between and the second album has the same problem. Especially Bring The Boys Back Home,
which just feels unfitting and odd. However, it also contains one of my favorite songs of all time, Comfortably Numb.
Although the live versions of Comfortably Numb are even better, the album version is very, very enjoyable too.

Now this is just basically a Roger Waters album, with minimal input from other Floyd members. If you can get past that, its still an amazing album with lots of memorable songs.
Yes, I think that The Final Cut is underrated. I suppose most people might just not like Waters' style, but I love it.
The album overall is very emotional in my opinion.
Also, did you know that The Final Cut was originally supposed to be a soundtrack for the The Wall movie?

Les Discrets - Septembre Et Ses Dernières Pensées (8.5/10)
Amazing shoegaze/post-metal album. It took a few listens for me to be able to differentiate the songs (titles in French, singing also in French, I think its all French, don't hate me if I'm wrong) but once I gave everything a good listen I loved it. With this album they manage to create an amazing atmosphere as well as some beautiful music spanning multiple genres of post-rock. My only issue is the vocals, they are nice for a while but they just get so annoying after long periods of listening, but they are sparse as is so this is hardly a major issue. Still recommend this to anyone who likes post-rock, post-metal, or shoegaze.
