I boycotted listening to this for a long time because I heard Oh Comely a few times and thought it was complete and utter shit (and it is), but I finally decided to give this a real chance hoping I would see the magic in it that so many people do.... And I really didn't, its a solid album and I enjoyed it a lot but the first word that came to mind while listening to it was "overrated". Its a fantastic album that definitely has some amazing songs but when listening to it as a whole it just feels so disjointed and unorganized at times that I can hardly say its a classic or a masterpiece or whatever it is people call this album. Also, what the fuck is up with Oh Comely? I don't know what it is people love about that song but it sounds like complete shit to me. However, Holland 1945, The Two-Headed Boy, and the title track are enough for me to safely say everyone should listen to this album.

It's not the best indie rock/folk album I've heard. But for the hype, it's quite nice.
It's breathtaking to feel the love that guy has for Jesus Christ. Try Magnetic Fields though.

BADBADNOTGOOD is a jazz trio who met in Toronto at their college. They shared similar music tastes, such as OFWGKTA, Gucci Mane, and Waka Flocka Flame. They decided to make a band and BBNG is their debut mixtape.
BBNG is a great album. The first track is very interesting and I could listen to the voice in it all day. The second track is great. "Fall In Love" is a great track and is very catchy and memorable. Improvised Jam is very nice too and sounds anything but improvised. In the middle of the mixtape, the track I Got A Bad Feeling About This changes the mood from somewhat happy and content to somewhat depressing. The track Listeriosis is somewhat disappointing which leads to the next track, Camel,which isn't a very good track either. The next track is amazing since the entire 9 minutes of that one track is a bunch of covers from TLOZ Ocarnia Of Time. The final track is very nice too. There is also a little part in it where someone in the band comments on this one old jazz song, bashing it because it's old and overplayed saying that he would rather play anything else BUT that one song. (Can't quite remember which song)
This album is also very unique. Instead of being just jazz or hip hop, it's a two way street of jazz and hip hop.

aeroplane is awesome. extremely honest and idiosyncratic songwriting and beautiful instrumentals.
it seems overrated as it's not like the best thing EVER but most of it's mythic status is probably because it's turned into a sort of mascot for /mu/ so its everywhere on the internet. also pitchfork 10.0 = lots of hype.
also check out Jordaan Mason and the Horse Museum. darker and gayer version of nmh.

Absu is a thrash/black metal band that's been around for about 20 years and is pretty underground. This is my first time listening to them and they're not bad.
The album starts of with my least favorite track on the album. It felt too rushed and overwhelming at first and it is a bit of a turn off. The next few tracks are pretty good wit the exception of a couple which were OK. The final track was a good ending but not the epic, spectacular finisher I'd expect from a metal album. The final track also felt more like 3-4 different tracks smashed into one and the album would have done a bit better if they were separate. The album overall feels short and more like an EP than a full length LP.
Overall this album delivers what you'd expect. A metal album that makes you want to punch something. It doesn't excel way to much but it certainly isn't bad.

If I believed in 10/10, this would definitely get it. The album that got me into underground hip-hop, this entire album has a lot of great memories attached for me. Sampling a David Lynch film (fire walk with me) in the opening few seconds of the album really gives you an idea of what's coming; a lyrically dense, vocally aggressive and melodically jarring work of industrial hip-hop. The production has always made me think of the bomb squad on PCP, while El's lyrics tend to sway between serious social commentary and Lynchian 'sci-fi' metaphors. my favourite track tends to oscillate between 'league of extraordinary nobodies' and 'Tasmanian pain coaster' but in general the entire album is brilliant. Tha Carter 4 it ain't, but to me that's a brilliant thing

Excellent technical deathgrind debut EP filled with plenty of interesting tempo changes, memorable riffs, and blast beats. I feel that the only think keeping this from getting a higher score in my opinion is its length, and the fact that the songs could use a bit more differentiation.

[b]Jónsi - Go[/b]
A solo project from the Sigur Rós frontman that's deep, relaxing and heart warming. There's many layers to this album that is formed by the instruments and topped off by the lyrical side, from acoustic piano to light, twinkling piano everything is sublime in this album. 2010/2011 saw a good measure of advertising for Jónsi from [i]Around Us[/i] being featured in the EA Sports title [i]FIFA11[/i] to [i]Sinking Friendships[/i] appearing in the tender finale of [i]Chuck[/i]'s fifth season.
This is definitely an album any Sigur Rós fan and anybody who enjoys an unearthly falsetto voice being accompanied by crashing drums and various other instruments.

Well, I know FP in general is not a big fan of Coldplay and neither am I for that matter, but I'm willing to give them a chance. When Coldplay released Viva La Vida in 2008, produced by the legendary Brian Eno, who told them to give up the depressive bullshit (apparently) they released what I considered to be a big step for what is essentially a brit pop band that hinted at some hidden depths that could be explored. You'd have to be an idiot not to realise that Viva La Vida was a massive step up from X & Y.
Anyway Mylo Xoloto takes a step away from that in a few ways, and seems to take in dance influences, a bit of heavy synths work, and obviously some fantastic production as you'd expect from such a man as Brian Eno - but at its heart, its standard feel-good music, very big anthemic stuff suited for stadium rock in a vein similar to U2. It doesn't introduce much that is new to the table musically, just a bit more electronic stuff, and the production is more layered than Viva La Vida. It doesn't bring much new lyrically either - though Chris Martin is now singing about how good you should feel he still sings about storms and symphonies and lights and hearts and mornings and paradise and shit like that.
However, Mylo Xoloto is a concept album, so perhaps Chris Martin was going for something a bit more sound as an entire work. In a way, it works too.
That said, if there's nothing new to what Coldplay is doing, that doesn't mean what they're doing is necessarily bad - Coldplay's strengths (accusations of plagiarism aside) lie in the strength of their melodies which do make you want to get up and move about a bit. The two singles (so far) have been tastefully chosen, particularly as Paradise stands out as one of the better tracks on the album.
All in all, some pretty strong tracks on it and some pretty weak ones but its pretty standard fare. Its an alright album, wouldn't call it a masterpiece but I wouldn't call it bad and as such I give it:

I'm being about as serious as the review, but I'm having a hard time deciding how serious that is. The only thing pointing towards irony (to me, maybe I'm just blind here) is the assumption that everyone likes DSotM, and that isn't true. I'm perfectly fine with people not liking an album, but the review goes pretty far beyond not liking it. And I wouldn't wan't to have to kill myself because I like it.
I'm usually pretty good at noticing irony and sarcasm and whatnot but here I'm just confused, so help me out here. And no, I'm not raging I wrote that post with a (confused) smile (of confused disbelief) on my face.

It's a joke? How can you even be sure? I thought it was a joke until I started reading about stuff he did like on the album, which threw me off. And again the only thing pointing towards it being a joke is the assumption that everyone must unconditionally like DSotM. This review isn't even out of the ordinary compared to the stuff I see on the internet every day.

It's fucking incredible, heading towards more rock-influenced synth sounds and beats, also a sort of dark Daft Punk feel. Definitely worth a listen, but don't except more of the first album.
