tbh I initially hated Justin Bieber but I think he's made some pretty canny decisions with his music and I am starting to view him with more integrity
Boris - Smile
This album's vying to replace Pink as my favourite Boris album. The more energetic, noisy songs like Laser Beam are as good as anything on Pink, and there's a nice mixture
of Pink-style material and more droney stuff. You Were Holding an Umbrella with its melancholic vocals is probably the only Boris song I've heard which I'd describe as beautiful.
Roy Harper - Stormcock
Fantastic proggy folk. I really love this guy's voice. Me and My Woman is definitely the highlight, with its discordant string accompaniment which gives it an unexpected dark air.
The other tracks don't use this element so much, and don't grab me as much as a result, but they're still great.
roy harper is superb.
I think Smile is Boris' best album. It doesn't over stay it's welcome like a lot of Boris albums do for me at times and the sound they have in it is really good. Boris is just a pretty amazing band.
I'm gonna start posting in this thread again.

This Will Destroy You - Tunnel Blanket
Really dark post-rock, with an ambient edge. Most of you guys probably heard this already.
What makes this album special for me is the mood it sets, the kind of dark, unsettling feeling you get from something I can imagine being a walk at a cemetary at night.

The last full album I heard?
The Angelic Process - Weighing Souls With Sand
My first exposure to the shoegaze sound. I loved it.
Recommended to me by a friend who later told me it was a concept album about a guy struggling before death. I plan to listen to it again with that in mind. Of course, I've never heard any shoegaze before, but since I loved it so much I'd say it's a good introduction to the genre.
9.6/10
And if we're doing the last album from which we heard anything...
A Day To Remember - Homesick
It's a metalcore album, so there's a lot of hate for it right away. But it's not like most metalcore albums. The emphasis is on catchy choruses with clean vocals, and that's something I always want more of in metalcore albums. Unlike other metalcore bands where the guitarist chugs the same muted note over and over again, in this one there's some great guitar work. The lyrics make no sense, but fuck are the choruses catchy.

Interesting that this was your introduction to shoegaze. Really amazing unique album, not much out there like it. The circumstances of the album make it that much more... Well, haunting... I wouldn't say it's a concept album though, seeing as it doesn't have any real lyrics.

Apparently all their albums are about the same concept.
But I liked this because it reminded me a bit of my favourite album of 2011, Woods Of Desolation - Torn Beyond Reason, with the really heavy thick melodies and everything blurring into each other. Sorry, I'm not very good at describing sounds.
Nah, your description was pretty much spot on.

LIGHT BRINGER - Midnight Circus
Normally I dislike power metal, but there's something about female vocals over power metal guitars that I love, and the vocals on this album (by Fuki, who's full name seems to be unknown by the internet) are fantastic. The music is pretty standard, but the vocals shine over the top. The other thing I love about this album is the keyboard. There is some beautiful keyboard playing here, especially on the opening track, but it's overpowered by the guitars for the majority of the album, which is a shame.

mclusky - mclusky do dallas
One of my all time favourite albums, fun noise rock/punk with great and witty lyrics. It even manages to have variations in sound throughout the album. Lightsabre Cocksucking Blues is a frantic and fast paced song, while songs like To Hell With Good Intentions sound like they could've been written by Fugazi.
Overall a really enjoyable album, even if you are new to the genre.
10/10 for me I guess, I don't dislike a single thing about the album.

Skrillex Bangarang
7/10
Being a fan of skrillex in the first place I am quite biased. I loved devils den, wolfgang gartner has done a brilliant job again (loved animal rights with deadmau5 to) I think the album lacked what it used to have, If you listen to scary monsters and nice sprites there is always something other than the bass wobbles, but alot of bangarang was just bass, It lacked musical value.
for Weighing Souls With Sand, struggling before death isn't so much a concept as a backstory if i'm correct...
Doing a Swans discography run starting from the beginning at the recommendation of vagrant, so I'll probably be in here a lot in the next couple days.

Swans - Filth 7/10
Once you get past the initial shock this album gives, it's extremely immersive and atmospheric. It's noisy and raw but atmosphere is really the focus of this album. It's not without its flaws but for the most part it's a very intriguing listen.
Standout Tracks: Stay Here, Power For Power, Freak, Weakling

Swans - Cop 6/10
The production on this album is more guitar heavy and just generally heavier than the previous album but for the most part this is the same deal as Filth with some notable improvements in instrumentation and lyrics (especially on Thug). My only gripe with this album is that while the atmosphere is fantastic, it just plods along and lacks greatly in standout moments.
Standout Tracks: Half Life, Thug
Oh... okay... well, I'll put another review in here anyway.
Rise Against - Appeal To Reason
Catchy upbeat punk rock stuff. You've probably heard this album already, but I can't get enough of it. The lyrics are open for interpretation, good guitar riffage (is that a word? It is now.), good production, just good everything. Lyrics focus on war, politics, poverty and many other subjects you can interpret as you listen. There is only one song on it that's a tear-jerker, and it's a real tearjerker.
9.3/10
swans get a lot different later on, whether you'll like it more I'm not the one to say. But Soundtracks for the Blind is awesome.
Swans are Dead is the great climax of their career c:

From what I've heard from Soundtracks for the Blind I'm pretty sure I'll like it a lot, but I am digging their old stuff more than I thought I would.

lil b is a horrible rapper on all technical levels but a strangely endearing persona. and the beats are HOLY JESUS. listen to "I'm God", flawless. I don't know what it is with these "cloud rap" producers teaming up with the swag rappers but for some reason it works?

I hate myself on Im gay (im happy) by lil b has actually one of my favourite beats ever, dunno why but i absolutely love it. Its a slowed down and edited version of a googoo dolls song mostly. Fuckin magical (srs)
Clams Casino is basically god. His beats for Asap Rocky are also amazing

Swans - Greed 7.5/10
This one moves further in the direction of Cop, with the band refining many elements and just tightening up their sound a lot, adopting a more droning sound. Most notably, Gira has traded out his harsh sort of snarling, growling vocals for a sort of moaning, warbling singing, and the instrumentation has expanded a lot, despite the drums becoming much more infrequent. The result is a much tighter and equally atmospheric effort that really packs a punch.
Standout Tracks: Fool, Greed, Money is Flesh

Swans - Holy Money 7/10
Pretty much just an expansion on Greed. Two of the songs are even straight off Greed. The only real notable changes are the, once again, expanded instrumentation, and the addition of Jarboe's lead vocals on You Need Me. While more diverse, the album just didn't quite stick with me as much as Greed did, but the progression is becoming more and more evident. I'm excited to see where this goes next.
Standout Tracks: A Hanging, You Need Me, Fool (#2), Money is Flesh (#2)
That's about all I can take for today without going completely insane haha. I'll try to listen to the next few at work tomorrow.

This is a concept album about finding a girlfriend, not spiders from mars, not a blind-deaf and dumb pinball expert-cum-messiah. This is pathetic awkwardness, hopeless jealousy and empty conclusions over a proto-punk beat. I doubt there is someone around who doesn't relate in some way to the lyrics of this album.

2001 The Chronic - Dr. Dre
8/10
Its a combination of good talent and production but occasionally sometimes it felt weird to me, like with some lines or the beat etc.
YOHIO - REACH the SKY
Nice guitar work in it, his voice isn't anything special really. The vocals still sound good and clear given that he is singing in Japanese despite being Swedish.
6/10

Aldious - Determination
This album is really quite average. Standard guitars, the vocals are nothing special, there's no point in the bassist since she's never heard over the guitars and drums, but for some reason I keep listening to it. Definitely only for people who really like the genre, though, and I'd recommend their first album over this one
A
Following From Mars to Sirius and The Way of All Flesh, this album has a lot to live up to, and it does. It's nothing revolutionary, just the Gojira we love, but every song
is right up to standard and I love it.

Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy - 1973
10/10
Just listened to Houses of the Holy for like the millionth time and I think I've made the mental decision that this is my favorite album of all time. The track seems to me to follow such a well chosen order of songs I could never get bored listening to it from start to finish. Listening to this album always makes me happy.
but there are butts on that album, eww~
