Beach House - Bloom
Genre: Dream Pop
Possibly one of my favourite albums from Beach House. You should listen to this sometime.
My favourite tracks in the album is Myth and Lazuli.
Music For Airports is the only Eno album I heard.
I thought it was boring as all fuck.
Anyway,

Polvo - Today's Active Lifestyles
Genre: math rock
One of the best albums of the 90s.
Noisy, abrasive, swirling and complex as well as catchy and melodic.
Wonderfully fucked up and broken-sounding guitars.
A+++ rhythm section.
A sense of richness to the album's overall sound.
Mood-wise, I wouldn't exactly call it dark or depressing(except for the quiet instrumental desperation of "My Kimono"), but I'd be hard pressed to call it upbeat or happy either.
I guess "cryptic and vaguely frustrated" are the best words to describe the mood both lyrically and musically, but they still don't really do the album's overall strangeness justice.
It's summer music.
Rating: it's fucking Polvo/10
Whoa you thought ambient music was boring? That's kind of the idea, it's ambient.
I'm sure plenty of people don't find that album boring tho.
They probably find it soothing or calming or something.
I just thought it was boring.
Music For Airports is the only Eno album I heard.
Well the music is kind of designed for... airports y'know?
Try "Another Green World", it's a lot more "art rock" than ambient.

Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavillion
FAVORITE TRACKS: In The Flowers, My Girls, Summertime Clothes, Daily Routine, Lion In A Coma, Brother Sport
VERDICT: 9.5/10
Merriweather Post Pavillion is probably one of the most esteemed and prestigious albums by Animal Collective, and it's rightfully so; not a track on this album is better than the other.
It's an album to be reckoned with, even if the guitars from the group's previous records were absent and replaced with synthesizers.
MPP is probably the most accessible of Animal Collective's discography, and I recommend it if you're just getting into the band.
This album has a lot of synths, great production, great vocals and overall it's an excellent experience. MPP is a lot more pop-ish than their earlier records, but I think anyone can enjoy it.

get yourself Brian Wilson's Smile album for some "Proto-Animal Collective".
I really don't like Animal Collective but I could stare at that album art for hours.

There's just something that bugs me about them, I know their music is supposed to be all like artsy electronic but it just really grates on me for some reason, especially the vocals. I've only really heard parts of MPP though, I might like some of their other stuff better.

I didn't hear that optical illusion album until very late into the process.
I wasn't a big fan of them either, I was simply searching for Freak Folk and found "Sung Tongs", enjoyed it a bit and revisit it frequently.

TV Girl - The Wild, The Innocent, The TV Shuffle (2012)
A recent release from the Greenhead Record's signed group, The Wild, The Innocent, The TV Shuffle is a unique album. For starters it's free, it's a mix of Hip-Hop, Electronica and Indie that blends to create a lush summery sound. Even their previous work has drawn praise from the Guardian who have compared them to Beck and Todd Rundgren for their ability to ''master any kind of music''. Not bad at all. You can certainly see the idea behind the Beck comparison, the band manage to combine Hip-Hop samples into their lush guitar work and the product is rather Dream Poppy and sleek.
The album maintains a consistency to its output, each track is similar but not repetitive which is an allusion to the production of the album. The samples are varied; ranging from 50s Pop to 90s Hip-Hop which helps create the variation in the record. The track Keep Me Distracted Part II has the atmosphere of Ska around it, it places emphasis on the bass and exudes the tempo of the genre. This too is a healthy reference to the band's ambiguous skill that crops up in the album. The album's tone is really upbeat, a quality which helps define this album as a whole. All a Dream is a conclusion which defines the album, intense piano work accompanied by samples from various Hip-Hop artists as well a droning synthesiser in the background. If you're a fan of Hip-Hop and Electronica then you should definitely check these guys out at their Bandcamp.

I'll probably check that one out eventually, I've been meaning to give them a fair listen.

Yeah I guess like I said 2-1 is great and really makes you think but the first track is just a bit to much nothingness for me I know that is the idea.
I mean Eno's most popular song is probably An Ending(Ascent) but compared to this album it has so much more happening in it.
Same with Selected Ambient works 2 by Aphex and the Drive soundtrack so much more going on, if you haven't listened to music to 1-1 have a listen it is just so bare

Andrew Jackson Jihad - Knife Man
Genre: 'Folk-Punk'
This has quickly joined The Flaming Lips' "Embryonic" and Have A Nice Life "Deathconsciousness" in the ranks of my top favorite albums. This is one of the most honest and entertaining albums I have ever heard. The lyrics of Knife Man make up my favorite part of the album because of the humor and a kind of asshole attitude that I can relate to greatly. There is no bullshit on this album. This album is an observation on people as well as an observation into the song-writer himself. If there's one thing for certain about this album it is that it's fair. I hate to cast the music to the side like a second thought, but it too is great with lots of stand-up bass and neat barber shop piano. It's really a unique album to me sonically and thematically.

The Dark Knight Rises Original Motion Picture Soundtrack-2012- Hans Zimmer
The lack of James Newton Howard really hurt this score, his themes provided a subtle backing to characters and scenes. That being said this is still a pretty good score that uses a lot of old material in an effective way. "No Stone Unturned" manages to blend this movies "Rise" chant with a piece very similar to the Train Finale in Batman Begins and "Risen From Darkness" is pretty much a reprise of The Batman themes introduced in The Dark Knight and the Batmobile Chase from Batman Begins. The more original themes of this score like "Gotham's Reckoning", "The Fire Rises", "Why Do We Fall", and "Imagine The Fire" are all very good pieces. However, the two 30 second tracks A Storm is Coming and Death By Exile are pretty much wastes of space and "Mind If I Cut In" (Selina Kyle's theme) is pretty weak. I usually hate bringing up Elfman's Batman scores when talking about this series but the Catwoman theme from Returns is so much better.
When its all said in done, this soundtrack provides a solid musical ending to this series.
8 out of 10
first 2 batman osts were awesome.
not seen/heard the new one.
I just didn't like the way Batman Begins was set up. The music was good but the fact it was just a boatload of suites with the most useless track names ever (Interesting gimmick, the bat names, but a gimmick none the less).
Can't remember how the The Dark Knight was set up originally, I waited for the Collectors edition package.
I would have to say that The Dark Knight Rises album setup is better than the other two.
yeah I have no clue what the names of the tracks were all about..

"The songs on the soundtrack are all titled with the Latin names for different genera of bats."
okay, now it makes sense.
"and the first letters of tracks 4 to 9 spell out the word 'Batman"
Gimmicks everywhere.
9/10 but then again, all of Incubus' albums are fucking incredible.

Public Image Ltd - First Issue(Public Image)
So I had a dream in which Keith Levene, upon leaving PIL, went back to school and got a job as a bakery cashier.
So this old couple walks into the bakery and buys something, I don't know what it was anymore, and they give Levene the money.
Levene takes the money and then, instead of giving them normal change, starts putting hundreds of one-pound coins on the counter he's standing behind and they're standing in front of.
When the old man asks Levene why he's doing this, Levene angrily swipes all the coins from the counter with his hand, launching them in all directions.
As the coins are all falling around and making shitloads of noise , Levene jumps from behind the counter and proceeds to kick the old man in the legs, making him collapse on the floor.
As he's beating the tar out of this old man for no apparent reason, I wake up.
Man, I love Keith Levene.

This great little bit of psychedelic rock is Canadian in origin, but takes various inspirations from east asia, with j-pop influenced
female vocals and some guitar work that would sound at home on a Boris album. It's a great listen and with a short length of 31
minutes, it's definitely worth the time to check out.

keith levene kicks ass, when he left PiL it turned awful
PIL apparently released a pretty good comeback album this year, but I saw neither hide or hair of it
Gonna finish rating all Swans albums just cause I've been sitting on these for a while.

Swans - Soundtracks For The Blind 10/10
I haven't even come close to fully digesting this album yet but giving it anything less than a 10 wouldn't feel right. Sure I could nitpick about how Yum-Yab Killers sticks out like a sore thumb or about how some of the samples used are completely random in the context of the album, but the truth is Soundtracks For The Blind perfectly captures the essence of Swans stripped down into a sprawling, droning, ambient double-album that occasionally builds into a beautiful climax in one way or another where Swans truly show you what they're capable of. I predict I'll be listening to this for a long time to come and I'll probably continue to discover new things I love about it for a long time.

Swans - Swans Are Dead 10/10
Swans Are Dead is a double live album encompassing two live shows of mostly songs from Soundtracks For The Blind and The Great Annihilator. The first disc also has a few unrecorded songs that really shine. The recording quality of both shows is impossibly good for a live recording and if it weren't for the occasional cheering or chatter in the background you could hardly tell this wasn't a studio recording. The live shows themselves are energetic and cathartic to a level that can't be achieved anywhere but in a live setting. Jarboe is especially impressive at both shows. Bottom Line: Even as a live album, Swans Are Dead is an essential in every way to Swans' discography.

Swans - My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope To The Sky 8/10
The first Swans reboot album. It's definitely the most easily digestible album in Swans' discography thus far, and while it's definitely a regression from the sound on Soundtracks For The Blind, there's no huge drop in quality here. It's just a good album to get Swans kicking again and it succeeds at that. Jim is the definite standout here (and just an all-around impressive song even for Swans) and it really highlights the sound on this album well.
Well I tried not to be too obnoxiously long winded but it's hard to do these albums justice in few words. I'll get The Seer as soon as I can get my hands on something better than leak quality.
On the Public image album, I just found out that john lydon reformed Public Image LTD using money he got from doing this:
