I think everyone that likes boxy cars (me included) likes them because they used to play inside a cardboard box like a car.

Ford Taunus.
Wagon model to be precise.
The last gen before they killed that model line.
Basically the old equivalent to the Mondeo line nowadays.

Hah, I never even saw it until somebody mentioned it.
Even though it looks like a huge grin, I think it still looks good. But I still prefer the older Mazda 3.

When I saw that car for the first time I said to one of my friends: You know how every car has a face? Well, that is the happiest car ever made.
That's probably a SAAB :v: or BMW
Nope!
Well it's a small hatchback so I'm presuming something Asian.
Toyota Starlet?

kinda looks like a 106
the windshield, roof and ... the bars at the side of the windshield makes me think of an old Cosworth
What's a CBT?
Also my Dad has ridden motorcycles all his life. He's an experienced rider who's had his fair share of bumps and knocks. I'm not sure how he'd feel about me pootling around on a scooter that would get eaten by a bus if I lost concentration.
In my experience bus drivers are normally pretty good. It's generally 3 things that are most dangerous - BMW drivers (normally dicks that try to get in your way because.. I don't know why, maybe just jealous of you not sitting in traffic) and , Korean eco-boxes like Kias and drivers of old Volvo's (they are just careless/bad drivers). Not saying they are all like this it's just my experience. Foreign HGVs are also a worry but they are less common in London.
As for pootling around, look at 125s. In London they are more than you need in terms of performance. Most do over 60mph easy and because they are so light you can have lots of fun on the twisties. Even the basic ones will beat most London eco cars off the lights. The RS125 is the "best" 125 in terms of fun, but expect it to need a rebuild every 4k miles or so. Still, if you fuck around with some stuff to de-restrict it it can do 140mph, obviously that makes it illegal under L plates though, useful if you do a restricted 33bhp license. Not bad for an engine smaller than some lawnmowers. I'd go for reliability over fun though if its a daily rider.
CBT is a 1 day course that teaches you the basics. Hence the name. Pretty much impossible to fail it. Guy at work dropped his bike when he did it but still passed.
Talk to your dad though, if he has experience he can tell you all you need to know. It's natural for parents to we wary of motorbikes because they are dangerous and you are their baby.
Anyway, back to cars. Anyone else other than me get slightly annoyed when they see the new Range rovers with the low profile tyres? I know it's just a fashion thing but what's the point in including all the off-roading stuff like a low range gearbox when you go and stick "sport" tyres on it. That car could pull off bigger tyres easily.
It's not like you need the massive brake discs in those wheels either, I know the car weighs a lot but it's not the Sport model. You shouldn't need to worry about overheating brakes etc. Or am I just being Anal?
