must be talking about the 06' and up, because the affordable ones (1.8t) are a full second slower with an automatic
Yep, only the newer ones are DSG.
Curious, what would you guys get at my price point (10K)?
Curious, what would you guys get at my price point (10K)?
are you fucking kidding
most people around here sell RX7s and restored Datsun 280Z's for less than 10k
hmm the only rx7's being sold in my area have like 120k miles, are 2 decades old and cost like 8k
hmm the only rx7's being sold in my area have like 120k miles, are 2 decades old and cost like 8k
I'm talking about 1993 models.
yeah they're like 15k at least over here
yeah they're like 15k at least over here
because people who want to tune them buy them and then sell them at a high price.
i have to sort out all my viable options for finding a nice old e30 or an e28. I've found a lot on craigslist for at least 26k which is out of my range as my first car.
But I have had some luck on ebay with some 10k finds and a couple of craigslist finds that are ~20 miles away from my city.

You have 10k and you are looking at shitty fucking Tiburons. :geno:
I can find an Ap1 for that much if I look hard, imagine what else you could get.
I admit I was wrong with the tiburons, I've misread about it. But seriously you're right 10k is a lot of money, If I put that sort of money into a car I would at least want it to be relatively reliable. It seems like a lot of people here just want to buy the coolest and fastest thing they can get, without any realistic expectations like insurance, reliability, and even safety. Would you want to get into an accident in a old 280z?
ooohh how about If one were to go the luxury route? for 10k I would imagine the Hyundai Azera would be great. Fantastic reliability, low mileage, and nice big 3.8l engine that can get you in a hurry

True, but most people who post in the cars thread have some relative knowledge of how to keep cars maintained, like doing an oil change themselves.
I've already got a turbo system sitting in my dads garage in San Antonio, TX. It's waiting to be put in my e30 with a new engine and some fuel injectors + lines.

The Hyndai is heavy as fuck, it won't be very quick.
Lets start finding you a car you like, what type of body style are you looking for, 2-4door? 2-4seater? Do you have a preference over drivetrains? FWD/AWD/RWD etc.
What year is the oldest you will consider, can it be a used car?
oldest would be a 2001 I guess, I would be looking for either a sporty car (with little preference to luxuries) or a "luxury" car that looks nice (with little preference to performance). But both must be relatively reliable.
I would prefer AWD, but I haven't seen too many viable options, since I'd much prefer an automatic because of city driving.
Audi A4?
I keep forgetting that he wants an auto, to be honest the only affordable cars with a dual-clutch tranny is the Lancer Ralliart and the Golf GTI. That's just my suggestion though, to me if it's going to be an auto it better be a damn good one.

can't afford those, I mean I see 06 and up gti for like 9k occasionally but they have 100k+ miles on them, something I don't trust from a vw.
On the topic of Accord coupes:

My friend's got one of these with the V6 and a manual, and while it's not the fastest thing on 4 wheels, it suits her pretty well. Nice quality inside and out, too.
from now on this thread is only about rear wheel drive stick shift sports cars
from now on this thread is only about rear wheel drive stick shift sports cars
but I like offroaders :saddowns:
and also offroaders provided they are sports cars or have bull bars attached
[editline]09:15PM[/editline]
and are manual
rsx is slow as bawls. The RSX-S is marginally faster than the accord, but I don't know if I want a stickshift because I'm going to be doing a lot of city driving
Man up.
Rear wheel drive stick shift sports offroaders

You can only buy these as imports in the UK which puts them in a stupidly high insurance group meaning that even though I could buy one soon I can't insure it!
I'm settling for a Celica though

Gotta save for another 6-8 months and I'll be able to own it! :D
Just get the Mazda6, seems to be the best for you tbh.
Guys quick question, does a VW Jetta mk2 fomr 87' have airbag(s)?
Ugh, I hate the newer Celicas...
Guys quick question, does a VW Jetta mk2 fomr 87' have airbag(s)?
Most likely no.
It was fucking pouring today, these are my tires

Guess how my day has been. :v:
Also I slid a corner at an intersection and a fucking AE86 blows past me at twice my speed and twice my angle and then disappears, awesome.
What's on the right side of the garage?
Those tires don't look legal boy :cop:
Homemade racing slicks :v:
