The bodykit is for wide tires. He's claiming that it does nothing more then add weight and draw attention.
I live in the UK and I was looking into to getting my first car, currently I'm thinking an old vauxhall corsa/Renault clio. Anyone got any good suggestions?
E: Dream car would be a Lancer Evo, however the insurance company thinks other wise :frown:

Get the cheapest and slowest car possible, reliable of course. Keep it and take care of it until you turn 21 or however old you have to be to get a nice car.

That's the second time I made post 1000 in a cars thread...on accident.....
what do you guys think of window visors? do they even work? anyone have experience with them?
I think they look mighty fine on certain cars, jap luxury cars specifically

They let you open the windows a little bit whilst getting rid of wind noise. Pretty neat.

GD threads go to 52, we're ok
I like window visors on my trucks/4x4s. Let me keep the windows down a little when they are parked, keep them from getting really fucking hot inside.

would you say they increase or decrease wind noise overall?

2002 posts, page 51.

compared to what it was stock, if I'm cruising the highway its definitely quieter if the windows are only down a bit. (AKA Not lower than the overhang of the visor)
God I hate these ricers with all these aftermarket modifications and such.

That's tasteful.
Not attention-grabbing, but subtle and good-looking.

Secondhand Corsas are pretty good. Fairly reliable, they'll do 70 and get you from A to B, insurance isn't too bad either. The main thing to watch when buying though is that you aren't buying one some chav has thrashed to death previously, don't be tempted by the ones going for absolutely nothing on ebay, there's a reason they're so cheap. A friend of mine got one for about £1400 last year, 03 done about 80k miles, completely stock. He's had his license less than a year and he's still 18 but isn't paying much over £1k in insurance. Have to say though corsas do handle like absolute shite in the wet, they steer like a fucking shopping trolley (although that might just be the fact my mate buys remoulds because they're cheap, my focus with a nice set of pirellis does not suffer the same problems). I don't know how old you are, but for me turning 19 made a huge difference to my insurance prices, but holding out till your 21 is a good bet. Another recommendation would be an old volvo, they're a bit like toyotas, pretty damn difficult to kill, be aware of gearbox problems as they age however. You could probably afford to get a bigger engined volvo on the insurance and they have more room than a corsa. Another friend of mine highly recommends VW Polos. He has a 14 year old 1.4 diesel and he's paying something like £600 a year on insurance and the car cost less than £1k.
I guess it depends what you are looking for. Reliability and safety get a volvo, cheapness an old VW, or if you want something to play around with a bit first, the corsa. The best advice though is to really shop around and do your own research, even if it takes you a few weeks longer to get a car, it'll be better than rushing in and buying a shitbox. Oh and I know it might be obvious but if you're buying from online make sure you get a good look at the car before you exchange any money, pictures can be very deceiving. I also suggest if you don't know a vast amount of cars taking someone that knows a little bit, even if it's your dad, at the very least a second set of eyes can't hurt.

The stupid ones do. They think it's "mad tite yo" when it has a giant bolted-on bodykit on it.
I respect taste, but jesus fucking christ... You guys arguments are just plain retarded
