Heinlein has aged pretty great IMO. Try The Rolling Stones, it's one of my all-time favorite visions of the future.

Yeah, those are good too. Hamilton really hits the spot for me, he's one of my favorite authors for grand space opera. Both of the trilogies in the Commonwealth Saga are pretty good, but the Evolutionary void trilogy ends sorta meh. I do love that all of his books are always 1200+ pages though. I also really like hard (read: grimdark) Science Fiction, and Alastair Reynolds is one of my favorites there. Pushing Ice was one of the first true hard sci fi books I've read, and its super memorable and a complete mindfuck. Reynolds does great at getting the scale of the universe across, which is always good for a bit of a reality check :D
The Ringworld series is worth a read as another staple of science fiction, Haldeman's lesser known novels "The Accidental Time Machine" and "Chameleon" are also fun reads, and there are a couple others that are just completely escaping me right now. Action Sci-Fi is completely dominated for me by John Ringo's Vorpal Blade series. Its cheesy as fuck, and the Author is a complete wanker, but the book series is just a fun and weird and motivating read. Its like if someone wrote a summer movie for sci fi with actually okay science. Its great.
I miss reading. I have a huge library of books at home and I haven't got to see them in ages. My parents also packed my room up and took my books down, and my sister took all my favorite visual encyclopedias that I loved. Including the ones I paid for :c
I still have an urge to write at times, but one hobby/life goal at a time. So I'll try to get a few tracks out on a label then mebbe when I'm old and retire from the space industry or something I'll become a grumpy hermit writing sci fi or something.
Anybody wanna cuddle?

My granddad died early yesterday morning. fuck.
[editline]19th January 2016[/editline]
He was my best friend and hero. I wish i had more time with him before he got the dementia, i wish he saw me now. I wish he met my boyfriend, they would have got on so well. I wish he knew that his confidence is what made me confident. I miss him.
Oh god im sorry to put a halt on this thread and depress it! Please carry on!

Damn dude, that sucks :(
He probably had a hunch about how much he mattered to you. Dementia is tough, and while you may feel terrible and like you shouldve tried harder I think you did fine. He would have rapidly become unlike himself, and seeing him in that state may not have done you any good. Live in and with the good memories you have of him, and never forget who he was to you. The more you speak of the good he did and what he did in your life the more he lives on. Hell, even you are part of his legacy and seem to be doing damn fine with that.
Thinking about how much you've lost doesn't help. I lost my grandfather a while ago, and he was the only solid father figure in my life too. It got a lot easier when I started doing the above more.
Also your second post seems remarkably British, lol. This thread has those weird intervals of quiet

So me and my boyfriend have finally got a flat together! :D It's in a perfect location and the flat itself is really nice. It's got two bedrooms, we'll probably turn one of them into a TV room/office, and and en-suite in the master bedroom! It's such a nice flat and hopefully we'll be moving in there together in under six weeks, can't wait!
(edit) I did post some pictures but they can be reversed image searched and the address found. Not that I don't trust you guys but I'd rather stay safe :P I'll post a couple of my own pictures when we move in.
Driving from Montreal to LA was wild, I went from snow and ice to rain and warm weather.
I used to like winter, now I feel like it can fuck right off
Quit my job because fuck my life.
Got this album on vinyl, White Denim - Workout Holiday. It's a cool album and I think it's great, but I wouldn't say it's for everyone.

It came with an MP3 download code as well if anyone wants it, I'm not sure if it's still valid though as the record was already open when I got it, so someone else could have already used it. Worth a try though! Here:
