I had sushi for lunch at work yesterday, it had grilled eel in it and had some sticky sweet sauce on it

thank god all the sushi restaurants around here range from decent to good

If you have good vindaloo (Indian, I know), you'd want the yogurt on the side if you're not one for spice. Helps somewhat if you're uninitiated.

see if you can pick up some naan and butter chicken. the thick bread naturally compliments and counteracts the spice.
