There was spoken dialog ever since Davesprite really.

Edit:
Wait, all dialog with sprites was spoken, they didn't have their IM names.
So what would you say this is, better on the story side or is it better for crazy wicked fights? Kind of like Dragon Ball Z.
It's very much story orientated.
The story is pretty difficult to follow at first, but it becomes more clear the farther you get in.
The flash segments, though not really common, are really awesome and understanding the story makes them even better.

It really depends as you can see from the posts so far some people love the story and some people don't.

You're lying, it might get clearer briefly - but then you jump forwards and backwards in time an infinite amount of times and suddenly you know jack shit again.
Either way though, still fucking awesome.

It's not actually that confusing. You guys exaggerate it. I can pretty confidently say I understand the story at this point, and have understood it really clearly since the end of act 4. I mean if you backtrack you keep picking up new things, but the story itself isn't that cryptic.

Even though I had read all the chatlogs and tried to understand what was going on, only the recaps actually informed me about the relevance of the Exiles, the planetary system of the Incipisphere, and Skaia and Sburb's overall original purpose. Without those I still would have been wondering what the Wayward Vagabond has to do with the story at all.
is it bad if i was listening to

instead of http://homestuck.bandcamp.com/track/descend while reading the op?

I skipped most of those. A lot of stuff, specially Wayward Vagabond, were pretty well cleared up in act 4. Also when someone does get caught up to where they're waiting for updates like the rest of us, the Wiki is a lot better than the recaps at answering questions.

Too late, he got banned.

Yes, but nevertheless the recaps do help without providing spoilers to future events, as the wiki tends to do. When I was searching through the wiki, I was looking for information and clarity on the Noble Circle of Horrorterrors and accidentally learned about Bro's death long before I got to that point, which was slightly depressing.
good dog
best friend
Jade Level'd up, got a new frog. Cool.
Where'd she get that sweet hat and frog from.
I really hope DimJim gets perma'd, he's done nothing but threadshit and post stupid threads for awhile now.
I like how these last few updates have been similar to early on in the sotry.
Hahah Oakley Fangirl #1
I rather dislike most of the troll arc... fucking time shenanigans. If it weren't for the wiki I'd have trouble understanding it.
Where'd she get that sweet hat and frog from.
Every player is given a SWEET HAT relating to their role, and another SWEET ITEM in relation to their world.
I think.
We've only seen John & Jade's Echeladders, so we don't know what its like for Dave and Rose.

I hated it, until I realized how important everything about it was. I then reread it and became enlightened.
tl;dr READ IT. Read through 5_2, REREAD IT.
Read first bit. Shits horrible, never reading again.

Jade and John are pretty much the same person, it's a nice mirror effect going on

Bye!
Who here agrees that Diamonds Droog is THE BEST member of the Midnight Crew?
Read first bit. Shits horrible, never reading again.
As stated in the OP, it starts slow. Once I forced myself to read it all, I was like "holy fuck and to think I was going to stop reading this! DAMN!"
Who here agrees that Diamonds Droog is THE BEST member of the Midnight Crew?
I've always loved DD the most.
Who here agrees that Diamonds Droog is THE BEST member of the Midnight Crew?
This pretty much, he's so willing to accept literally any role.
He's so fucking middle of the road to, sometimes he gets the job done, other times he just seems lost and confused as all fuck
Who here agrees that Diamonds Droog is THE BEST member of the Midnight Crew?
DD always reminded me of Pi (from PS).

I always thought he was the coolest.

it gets better.
I liked Spades Slick the most even before he was revealed as an Exiled Jack Noir because he gets sick of the weird time shit and just uses Crowbar's crowbar to stop the fucking anomalies. It was refreshing to see someone in the story get sick of time travel too and do something about it.
Diamonds Droog is extremely crafty and intelligent though.
