Neighbors sue man to stop auto repairs at his own home
I can't imagine he has all of his tools running all the time with all of the windows and doors open during all hours of the day. This is just so fucking stupid and petty, are you really sinking 40 grand into this because you just don't want this guy to enjoy life? With that money, you could have just built yourself a fence to wall off sight and sound. Hell you probably could have built your own garage.
Oh yeah fuck him for wanting some peace and quiet in a house he owns that's not important, all power to the in-house garage man instead because it's his hobby and stuff. These damn people who want a calm life at home, unbelievable.
Ohhh boy, my sophomore biology teacher at the end of the school year played us a home video compilation made from security footage he placed around his home because of his shitty neighbors. He told us stories about them all throughout the school year and promised to bring in the compilation. He was a cool guy, that was his last year teaching because the school supervisor had it out for him and wanted him gone so a friend could get his job.
The husband would cross over into my teachers yard and piss on his plants and even stare at the security cameras my teacher set up because of prior crazy by these people.
The neighbors then put their trashcan on his driveway and bitch to the garbage truck and township that my teachers trashcan was in the way of his.
Among all the other stories to top it off they had a police officer at the local department show up for some "disturbance" my teacher was making(he wasn't) and the officer threatened teach and his family and any reports the teacher made never went through because of that fuck. Eventually teacher and his family moved iirc.
People want to be dicks because they have nothing better to do.

Found the complaining neighbour
Are you dense? If there was a legit issue with a lot of noise coming from his garage, the dried old hags wouldn't be the only people complaining about it.
Dude likes to tinker with cars and help his friends, not run an auto shop 24/7
It's not like old people are more susceptible to noise and other disturbances, they all must be old salty hags who just want to spite him right?
Watch the video one more time and listen to them one more time. All I heard was them being a broken record about how he's breaking "the law." They never said anything about noise, they just want to bully a man out of his life.
Same sorta thing happened to my dad.
He built a 10 ft fence
For the greater good!
If it wouldn't hurt him, I'd love to park outside each of their houses and just bounce off the revlimiter with a straight piped V8. Or maybe seafoam my bike and smoke them the fuck out. You want real problems? I can give you real problems. The guy's an amputee for fuck's sake, let him do what he wants to do on his own property.
If he was using something like an air wrench for commercial purposes in a residential area I can understand the dismay; zoning exists for a reason.
Not sure what sort of laws applying in his state in the US, but it's pretty easy to pass the threshold of "Carrying on a business" here in Australia.
That said, my neighbour in the duplex is a qualified mechanic who tinkers with his cars, and my next door neighbour (landlord) also tinkers with his race cars - I don't have an issue with either, and they appear to be a hell of a lot closer in proximity than the properties in the video; mind you, they don't have what appears to be fully equipped mechanic workshops.
As long as he ain't cutting up anything thick with a angle grinder or hammering something loose with a mallet then you generally don't make so much noise that you'd disturb your neighbors with a garage like his.
So unless he's restoring a rusted out hoopty, then he ain't gonna be a disturbance.
I should know as I still have grease under my fingernails and probably some crud in my face from work.

Doesn't look like it, though. He was even using an electric impact wrench instead of air. He sounds very respectful in terms of noise.

This is all maintenance and tinkering from the sound of it. I think he's too physically disabled to be doing full resto work, at most he might be yanking a motor but this genuinely sounds like a hobby that he shares with his friends.
The only reason they are targeting him is because they wanted to sue a crane company for ruining their common driveway, and asked him to join them.
Instead he shared a video showing that the damage was there before the crane company was working there.
After that they have been harassing him constantly, filming everything he does.

Christ, imagine being that shitty of a person.
Sounds like they were already pretty sue-happy, he just dove in front of their sights.
I never before had an appropriate definition for the term "Thunder Cunts"
Yet there they are.
It's not like old people are more susceptible to noise and other disturbances, they all must be old salty hags who just want to spite him right?
Yes, they are.
The basis for their case amounts to fuck-all anyway. Building code is important, but it's something that's only truly applied to either A) businesses or B) homes with people living in them. Their "evidence" amounts to things that nobody will spend the time on. I'm honestly sure this guy is aware that some of his equipment and how he's using it and how it's situated is not "up to code", but he doesn't HAVE to make it "up to code" because it's his own damn garage.
Now if this dude had an iron forge in the middle of his garage and was smithing bullshit all day and there was no proper ventilation, or the ventilation went out into some neighbors yard...yeah, that'd be a problem and that would have plenty of legal ground.
The guy even said he's had multiple inspectors come by and check everything and they have found zero issues, or anything they did find that was a small problem was a "non-issue", since he's not a fucking business.
I would understand these ladies if they had things serviced by him and they wanted to make sure things were up to standards, but the way I see it, if he did the job and did it right what difference does it make if his car lift is a couple of inches too close to a tool bench?
EDIT
Hahaha, the real reason "if he's allowed to do it and get away with it then EVERYBODY is gonna do it!" Yeah, because EVERYBODY has $60,000 to sink into building and maintaining their own personal auto garage. This is making my fucking blood boil.

Not to be an ass, but source?

I don't even know if you have a clue what it's like to actually live in a quiet part of nowhere
I used to live in the middle of nowhere. My neighbour, was a life long mechanic, builder, contractor, all around handyman. He built a bridge to cross the river for us, he built a bus to travel the US with, he built renovations to his home.
Again, this is in the middle of nowhere, where you could literally hear a singular bird, singing, it was so quiet.
How much noise did my neighbour generate over the 20 years I lived next to him?
very fucking little even with power tools.
I can relate to this man
My family breeds dogs for the fun and money on the side, we're registered and have all the proper paperwork but get constantly harassed because everyone from 3 miles away who wants to use our neighborhood as a nature trail. They'll call the cops because they feel threatened when their dog without a leash tries to take a shit on our neighborhood lawn around my male mastiffs and they'l respond by barking or posturing, to this date they haven't even hurt or jumped at anyone. Somehow I'm the bad guy in their minds :v:
Suburbs do weird shit to your mind when you have a nice life and focus too much on the little stuff
The best thing is when you live in an apartment complex that mostly contains old people and then you.
My friends apartment complex has a ban on WLAN, because "it causes headaches and nausea on people." So his WLAN is hidden, as is on everyone else there who is not an old idiot who doesn't really know anything even though they think they do.
Holy shit.
Her facebook shares
"Share if you think Donald Trump should be president"
"Evidence surfaces Michelle Obama didn't give birth to both girls."
Well that rules this case.

I went right ahead and donated. We car enthusiasts need to have each other's backs.
Man, you people have some awful neighbors, mine just bring me deer meat if they bag a deer on my land, and I let them sled down my hill during the winter because I have the best one for a couple miles.
The only time power tools should ever be loud enough for people to actually be annoyed by it is on a construction site or an actual auto shop(which this guy is not)
Working in plumbing I've had to use power tools like demo hammers on concrete, excavation backhoes for trench digging and a large mansion residential job where there were so many contractors you could barely hear what your boss was saying when he was in front of you. That is nothing compared to large commercial jobs however, and given the nature of the work nobody with common sense would complain about it since it was expected.
This guy is neither of those, one little electric wrench and a small power tool here and there is not going to be heard outside of his garage, especially in a retirement community full of decaying old people who can't even hear their own thoughts.

le reddit, he did a AMA
i would love to make up with these two nieghbors who are complaining. i would love to go back to a life of peace with my neighbors like it use to be. its not like i moved in and myself and the nighbors never got along. we were freinds for a very long time until their jealousy got the best of them and also i refused to go in with the neighbors on a lawsuit against a crane company for damages on our -then-shared driveway (because he had evidence he showed them that the damage was there before the crane company came).
