You're paying with your own time and effort. There are Lockerz members that have been there from the very start and haven't gotten anything yet. Like you said, you only get a chance to get free stuff. There are ways to boost your chances, such as using auto refresh and autofill, but it's still just chance. And when free stuff is on the line, expect a mad bum rush for all of it. Only few manage to get something, and the rest just rage or quit.

I've come to not expect much from them right now. Stuff has been getting better over time. The website works a lot better (when it's not redemption time) and they're actually launching stuff on schedule from the delays now. I have faith that my dedication to the website will pay off some day. If not, well I guess I'm out a few minutes of each day I logged in and did the dailies. My loss.
