Who needs extensive facial capture rigs when soon enough we'll be able to scan an actor's face in real-time from imagery alone? Granted, the extra precision of a rig will always have its place.

A good comparison is with stuff like Google Maps where it has 3D buildings, stuff like bridges where there should be a "gap" underneath just get merged to the ground
